I'm seeing them a lot now. Its like if a topic changes to Religion gone haywire , the google ad changes. I personally wanna see a Google Ad on " Male Enhancement " on this thread .

Does Google have " Male Enhancement " ads ready ?

What kinda Google Ads do you wanna see here ? ;)

Maybe if we keep saying "inches" or "too small," it'll show up.

I've heard that websites that host google ads get money when people click on the ads. This helps support the cost of many sites so they don't have to pay out ot thier own pockets or ask for donations. You get differant ads depending on the subject matter of the site you visit. So click on the ads occasionally to support your favorite site , or not.

Even better with Filter Set G. I don't even have to do the blocking anymore.

One time it showed hotel prices in my town, which blew my mind for a sec until I realized it's because of the location text in my user info.

I must say, I once spent an hour wondering why an Australian company with services only for Australians would be advertising on this website - for that hour I was convinced Jonah must be the best salesmen ever.

Google ads are not that obnoxious like many ads, and if they allow a web site to keep providing free access, I don't mind.

Old thread that I bumped into accidentally, but I simply had to add something.

I never look at Google Ads (not at any ads for that matter) and I've never in my life clicked on any Google Ads.

However, I have a reason to look at them now, as there is a Firefox extension called Greasemonkey (https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/748), which is simply an easy way to run extra scripts. And one such script turns every Google Ad into a neat little haiku-like poem (http://userscripts.org/scripts/show/9122). There are many similar scripts that block the ads completely, but I really like this one. Examples (screenshots from sites I've visited, in this case Engadget.com, but obviously it could have come from any site that carries Google Ads):

I always end up getting nonsensical Ebay ads whenever I google stuff.

If I searched for the meaning of life, the ad would read "looking for the meaning of life? You can get it here on Ebay!" Or something like that

ebay made a deal with google to always appear at the top spot for most searches and used "dynamic keyword" insertion in the headline to get your search in there
