Can someone fill me in on who Anarky is? I know he was a villain and is now considered a hero...and that he is the son of my favorite villain, The Joker. But what else?

Anarky is Lonnie Machen, a fourteen year-old with a disdain for authority who opposes the idea of government. He has always been more of an anti-hero than a villain or hero. There is at least one Anarky TPB out there.

Also, I'm pretty sure he's not the Joker's so - though I think he thought he was for a while.

I like Anarky , he should have been made to be a useful member of batman's gang. He's highly intelligent , a super wiz at technology and a decent fighter , he had faced down Ra Al Ghul and Darkseid without fear and outwitted the JLA. Wonder how the heck did he build his super high tech secret underground base with the super computer though.

Strongly implied he is in his final issue, and hasn't since been contradicted.
I did a search and came up empty, but I could have sworn there were at least two previous Anarky threads asking the same thing ("Who is he?" "Is he Joker's son?"). Ah well.

I read a quote from either Alan Grant of Norm Breyfogle once, that when they wanted to write a story where Joker is revealed to be Anarky's father, DC would only let them do it if they later wrote a story where it was revealed to be false. The first story came out, but before they could write the follow-up the series was cancelled.
Continuity-wise it doesn't make sense for Joker to be Anarky's father anyways, because Lonnie is too old. He was written as 16 his short-lived series (set at the same time as NML), and that probably already been a couple years ago comic book time.

In any case, it hasn't been contradicted in print yet, and they've had plenty of opportunity to do so. Oh, and the thread I was remembering is here (http://forums.comicbookresources.com/showthread.php?t=11131&page=3&pp=15&highlight=Anarky)

He was an antogonist of Batman's shortly after the death of Jason Todd. His visual appearance is based on Alan Moore's Vandetta. He was able to go brain to brain with the Batman as a junior high student. He is an anti-authoritarian revolutionary who surfaces from time to time. His philosophy tidilly summed up, "The will of the people is the will of God."

There's no evidence to the conterary, but IIRC, there was no definate proof that the two were related. I thought it was just losely implied.

He last showed up in a (in my opinion) rather good fill-in issue of Green Arrow.

If I remember right he was in the Knightfall triology as well. Didn't fare all that well against Azrael/Batman.

He was in Sins of the Youth...I think, I always thought he was cool.

There was a blood test, wasn't there? I thought that was how Lonnie himself found out.
