I've been asking around if anybody would have any insight on this...the Azrael series ended a low note and there's no way that the character is done with. He was very interesting at the start of the series and there's potential for more from him. I was just wondering if anybody knew if there were any plans to bring him back into the Batman picture anytimesoon...maybe post-infinite crisis...like OYL.

More than likely not. I don't think we'll see Azrael back until either Denny O'Neil comes back to write him or some future fan turned pro decides to use him years down the line.

Seriously, when the series ended, I would've bet a paycheck that he was going to be coming back as the new Spectre b/c (1) The way they ended the series, (2) He was already into delivering vengeance, and (3) The then Spectre series was ending.

When the current DC writers were asked about Azrael at the comicon this weekend, their comment was, "he is so dead," or something similar. Doesn't sound like there are any plans in the near future.

Would DC not wanting to use Azrael have something to do with the fact that Joe Quesada created him and they would have to credit him in some way for it?

I know its politics but seriously just give us something with Az.

I think it's more that he isn't a popular character in the offices and the only reason he stuck around so long is because he was Denny O'Neil's baby.
