You don't need a HDTV to play a 360.

You don't need one, but take it from somebody who owns a couple of HDTVs: You'd be missing out on quite a bit!
From what I hear, you Yanks have better deals on HDTV considering you get broadcasts in HD. We don't. That's just another reason to upgrade.

thanks. :) i dont know why lots of people say yes and some no. none of my friends have one. so i cant get the answer from them a 100 % sure. they sold out here less than 2 days when they 1st came out. its impossible to find one at a store at this moment. bastards on ebay rip you off on there so forget it.

Mostly because a lot of people are looking for an easy way to bash the 360. I see a lot of 'Oh, you need a half-million dollar setup to play 360' posts online, which is really surprising to me since I've been running mine on a $200 27" tube.

It Plays just fine on a normal TV. Here's an example of whre a HDTV setup would work: When I play the DVD player, the picture quality is very dark and I'm unable to adjust because the defaults are designs for HDTV and you can't tweak the brightness, etc. It's a pain in that regard, but not something you can't get around. As far as gameplay goes, there are some shading problems on a regular TV, but nothing that ruins the gameplay.
