Last I heard, the Yoe! Studios Classic Comic Book Character Hellboy figures were finally supposed to ship on the 15th of this month, but I actually got mine today! :) And only 10 months after placing my order! :D

Anyway, it's pretty cool - I'll try to snap some pics tomorrow...

I talked to an action figure sculptor years ago who used to work for then Todd Toys. He had made a Hellboy figure in anticipation of Todd acquiring the rights but it never happened. I recall him sending me a pic of it way back when...it looked exactly like how a Hellboy figure by McFarlane Toys would look.

For all non-Mcfarlane toys collectors out there, that means looks very nice, but breaks easily if you plan on moving any of the body parts. I have some McFarlane figures and they are best left in their packages.

You have seen the Mezco line I assume?

McFarlane stopped making sction figures years ago. He makes plastic statues of Spawn and atheletes and that's about it. Oh, and AvP dioramas that aren't in scale with anything under the sun.

It's pretty neat, but I do have a couple nitpicks... the edition number on the bottom of the figure and the number on the back of the tin don't match. :( The hand painted BPRD patch leaves a lot to be desired - yikes! And the seam line is gigantic - but perhaps this was intentional... maybe they were going for a vintage toy feel? I'm not really familiar with that genre of collectibles, so I dunno...

Anyway, I like it, and I'm glad I decided to order one - even with all the delays.

If I bought one, it would be for the packaging...which looks a zillion times better than the figure. It reminds me very much of the PVC set Hellboy. How much taller is it since it doesn't have any more detail than the PVC one?

I think it's charming and the seam was intentional. As if Hellboy was a toy from early in the 20th century. Quick, someone sneak it onto Antiques Roadshow!

Yes, it doesn't fit with the super slick sculptures that most comic characters are rendered in but Mike's art doesn't fit into the trendy, realistic comic art that is popular not.

I think it's cool, like Gepetto carved it. Hmmn, maybe his horns grow if he tells a lie or denies his destiny.

Right and right, Tad :) It does have a certain charm about it, and I think the retro styling is a part of that. The more I look at it, the more I like it.

Oh, and he's 5 1/4" tall...

Gotta say I love the packaging. And I like it for it's classic feel. Guess that happens more and more as you get older. I'm gonna try to pick one up most definitely!
