i don't remember the precise interval involved (if i weren't at work, theoretically i could dig into my sgt fury run & find at), but does anyone remember when marvel stopped printing replies in its letters pages for maybe 3-4 months, probably back around '69? i still find it somewhat jarring, well over 30 years later, to be cruising through an old marvel issue, turn to the lettercol & find letter upon letter unseparated by even a semblance of a reply ...

were they just trying to cram in more letters? did the assistant editors who batted out the replies get fired or go on strike? were they just wondering whether anyone would notice? did dc ever follow suit?

It was around the end of 1968 - in the Marvel Bullpen Bulletins for Feb 1969, Stan's Soapbox carries a fairly abject apology.
