I know we have the female missing thread but I thought this is very important to get out as well. I posted in that thread but felt this deserves its own.

Here is something really bothering and serious that is going on in the Minnesota/Wisconson Area. Many college kids are turning up missing or thought to have gone in the river. This has been happening alot in the last 3 years? The other night when the Japanese student turned up missing in Madison, I looked at my girlfriend and said it sounds like a Serial Killer. I then found this site that has a listing of all the students and its pretty creepy. Its called Drowning in Coincidence: Midwest Mystery

I actually would like to see some people post on here who live in the area and get their opinion and see what they have heard, especially from PHO. Since she is a journalist, she may have heard talks about this. Any one in law enforcement, please chime in as well.

I remember reading an article on this in Rolling Stone (I think) several months ago. While most of it COULD be explained by coincidence....it sure is an awful lot of them.

The other night when the Japanese student turned up missing in Madison . . .Discounting the fact that he hasn't been found, yet . . . Isn't that a little too far from the Mississippi? I thought most of the deaths were in the vicinity of the border.

Looking over the whole site, it looks like the disappearances are centered around I-94, with any local river filling the role of drowning site.

Your wish is my command.

Hate to rain on the conspiracy parade here, but the media in Wisconsin, at least, are the ones reporting these deaths as accidental.

There's no evidence to suggest otherwise. College dudes drown all of the time because - let's face it - they get pretty stupid when they drink. When there's a bunch of water close to bars and frats, this is bound to happen. Id say its more a result of being in a "land of lakes" coupled with a reputation of overindulgence than anything else.

This guy tries shopping this theory around to every editor who will listen - but he has no case. Our paper, La Crosse's paper and Madison's paper have all done their own investigations into these situations and it all points back to binge drinking and carelessness every time.

Edited to add: And what would the motive be? They haven't been robbed. They were not killed by force or struggle. They were not sexually abused. They drowned - something that's very difficult to do to a full size man against his will.

phoenixrising gets only one quibble:

They drowned - something that's very difficult to do to a full size man against his will.

When they're hammered? Probably pretty easy, really. Especially when the most likely solution is that they drowned without any help at all.

I was in Minnesota when all of the college students started showing up missing. It got to me so much I wrote a book about it. The book is called College Predator Missing College Students. I believe it gives some insight to what is happening to some of these kids.
I also have a website http://toddhemmingbooks.com[/URL]

especially when he could of given us his insights into the events rather than a link to buy his book. It shows more concern about selling copies than any actual concern for the students who've met an untimely end.
