And do you want to share it with us. I've been keeping mine for a couple of weeks now, it can be seen here:

I wanted to share this last entry I wrote, just because I can't stop thinking about it.

10:41 pm I'm Obsessed
I am absolutely obsessed with a girl. A girl named "Adela". Oh sure, she's not what most guys would call hot, but she is the sweetest, most beautiful, most wonderful girl I have ever laid eyes upon. I can hardly contain myself being near her. Just the sound of her name sends me ecstacy. She speaks with the most cute little Russian accent, has long blonde hair, a face that just radiates with a classical beauty. She is always smiling, she's so smart, seems so sweet and kind. Look at me, talking about her like this. Truth is I don't even know her that well. But I want to find out everything there is to know about her. She seems so perfect that I'm almost afraid if I talked to her for long I would become highly disillusioned. Oh Adela, I wonder if she even suspects how I feel about her, and if she could ever feel the same way for me.

Current Mood: indescribable

No. I've never been one to keep a diary. The only time I did was for a school assignment, and even then I couldn't maintain it regularly. Plus, does anyone really need or want to know how I spent my day? They'd be bored to tears.

What kind of issues?Off the top of my head...

The level of html familiarity one seems to need, at times, is excessive. But you can still blog without knowing much about it.

The comments sections seem rather limited, unless you know certain tricks, apparently. I've seen Nikki do things with hers that I've been unable to do with my comments section. I'm sure she'd share her secrets, but the kinds of things I'm talking about shouldn't require "cheats."

I'm not a tech guy. I'm kind of parroting tech guys and hoping one of them will come explain better/correct me. Basically, there's a... thing called an RSS feed that updates when blogs update, and if people sign up for a special program thingy, it'll aggregate all the feeds of blogs they subscribe to, so they only have to view their reader instead of manually going through 2-100 blogs (or however many).

Ed Cunard

Just the tech of it, really. LiveJournals give you certain options blogs don't--community rings, the ability to decide which readers can read what content--like, if you only want certain people to have full reading access, you can set it up that way.

Blogspot is fairly easy, so it's what I use, even though it (as West pointed out earlier) is kind of crappy, and it breaks down a lot, etc.

An RSS feed is a relatively new kind of bookmark. Internet Explorer doesn't do it yet. The next generation of Internet Explorer will be able to do RSS, I believe.

Firefox and many other web browsers are RSS-capable.

I included two screenshots. The first one shows the RSS button at the bottom of my Live Journal Blog. It's the orange button that I circled. You select that in Firefox and you can make an RSS feed in any folder with the rest of your bookmarks.

The next screenshot shows a bunch of RSS feeds I have inside my blog folder under bookmarks. Selecting a feed, as I have done, will show you the titles of all the latest entries made on that website.

Question for the Blogger users: is there anywhere I can find add-ons or ways to customize the layout if I'm not too HTML-savvy?
I also use Blogger, and from my experience, it's pretty easy to alter the template if you're patient enough to sit there and squint at lines of code for a while. I'm not computer savvy at all, but I just winged it and figured out most of what I was interested in... take a look at this link:

Click. (http://help.blogger.com/bin/topic.py?topic=22)

First you have to go to your control panel, and then go to the "Template" tab. There is a big section in the middle full of code. All these things control your blog's settings, even if you don't know what they are or how they work. Just tweaking them will alter your blog. I found this advice (http://help.blogger.com/bin/answer.py?answer=114&topic=22) to be particularly useful. If you take a look at my blog, you'll see that it looks a lot different than the standard Minima Black template, because I just screwed around with the placement of objects and colors until it looked the way I wanted it to.

pennywisdom
03-04-2006, 04:02 AM
howy - Another tip: Make liberal use of the "Preview" button at the bottom of the screen when you're experimenting. Don't save your settings unless you're positive that it is just so. If you screw up, you can also click "Clear Edits" and it will take you back to the last saved settings (IIRC). Be careful. I don't want to be held accountable if your blog gets wrecked. :p

I wish I had a blog.

I'm mildly astonished to hear that you don't.

There are websites that offer free blogging, like BlogSpot (http://www.blogspot.com). Unless you were lending some witty commentary on how everyone and their mother has a blog. If so, then I agree, hahaha. But yep, I was just interested to read some blogs from the colorful CBR community. ^_^

I could host you, I think. Depending on how much traffic you generate. ;) I'm not sure if I have the bandwidth. *ponders*

Okay, now I feel bad. That was an in-joke about how my blog has been infrequently updated for about a year now.

I actually did get an idea this week for a pretty big project for it, but there's no way I can start it with my life as it is right now. Hopefully by the end of the year.

I wish I had a blog.

You really should put it in your sig. It's easier than digging through your profile.

P.S. Blogger is the Great Satan.

Well, hey, I'm not too proud to advertise myself in such a thread.

My blog is linked in my sig. It's a Legion-of-Super-Heroes-centric blog, updated several times a month, with prompt reviews of every Legion comic published, and continuity notes, profiles of individual Legionnaires, and miscellaneous other articles posted monthly if not slightly more often. It's a fairly easy schedule to stick to, which I hope means that I'm never going to burn out on it and will therefore still be doing it years from now.

Never had a Blog. I really don't care for one either. I know many have them. But to each their own I suppose.

My blog, in my sig, has over a thousand daily readers.

Someone needs to tell them I'm not funny.

I would like to start a blog one day.

I have a website.

I don't update the main page often, though. The only one I regularly update is the webpage for the course I teach and that's not of general interest
