Silver Surfer came to earth finally and wiped the floor with a considerable amount of Marvel Zombies. However after a throwdown with the Incredible Hulk he met his fate of being eaten. Meanwhile, Black Panther who is one tough SOB, escaped his captures and met up with Magneto's Acolytes. Returning to the Marvel Zombies. All but Cage, Cap, Wolverine, Spider-Man, Iron Man, Giant Man and Hulk are gone. The remaining have been imbudued with limited amounts of the power cosmic. Now Galactus has arrived
Quiet frankly I think its stupid they can devoure energy being. I mean Galactus is pure cosmic energy, they should not be able to do anything to him

Since nobody has done one of these things yet...
The Marvel Zombies engage in a fierce and bloody battle with the Silver Surfer. They get blasted up pretty good but ultimately win, and about half a dozen of the zombies get to eat him, which temporarily gives those zombie heroes - Iron Man, Captain America, the Hulk, Giant Man, Wolverine, Luke Cage, maybe a couple others - a share of the Surfer's powers. They use them to basically destroy their fellow zombies, curious to see if they'll taste any good when they're cooked. They don't.
Meanwhile, the partially eaten - but still alive - Black Panther escapes, with the help of The Wasp, apparently, who is also still alive even after having her head bitten off by Giant Man last issue. They run into a bunch of characters who are looking for Magneto - presumably the Asteroid M folks who call Magneto in issue 1. I didn't recognize any of them, but I haven't read many X-Men comics the last decade or so.
Back at the remaining zombie heroes, they're planning their next move when Galactus shows up. Leading to this classic exchange: Galactus: "Where is my herald? Where is my servant, the Silver Surfer?" Giant Man: "If by Silver Surfer you mean the silver guy that flew around on the surfboard... we ate him." Galactus: "WHAT?!"
I won't spoil the last line, but it's pretty great too.
This series is just a whole lot of fun and it keeps getting better. So wrong, but so good. The Black Panther / Wasp conversation is also classic. "T'Challa...I need to feed." "This is madness!! You are a severed head! You don't even have a body! ... There is nowhere for the food to go! "
From the cover to the classic battle to the final page, this is the most fun I've had reading a Marvel comic in years.
Edit: I started this as a thread before Drifter had posted his...looks like a very fast moderator merged the two. Thanks!

seriously if they kill and eat Galactus Im tossing the issue in the trash... Fun story yes but don't go that far from reality, SS being eaten is enough

Silver Surfer can be eaten because he is just coated with gunk as opposed to Galactus who is simply energy made to look like a man by our goofy human perceptions.
The zombies eating the Surfer doesn't bother me. Them eating Galactus wouldn't bother me either. If for some reason, Kirkman decided that the zombies could survive eating vibranium dipped in concrete and still not break teeth, I'd be okay with that too.
As long as he keeps the surprise twists coming like he has these first three issues, I'll have fun with this "elseworlds" style book.

Exactly this book is fun and funny as hell, I love every page so far, weither or not Galactus gets eaten or not doesn't matter to me, as long as Kirkman keeps it fresh and funny, and if they can eat Galactus, damn how long is he gonna be feeding the troops for?
Did anyone else notice that since Wasp survived being a head, that there's a possiblity of Hawkeye survivng too? I think his head is going to play an important role later on. :D

That was one of the best comics ive read in a while. It was simply awesome.

Galactus was a mortal man before bonding with the universe way back when. But that's beside the point. One approach would be to wait to see how the battle with Galactus is actually handled before complaining about how it might turn out. Even if he can't be "eaten" he could certainly be defeated, depending on how low his energies are, through a conventional battle; the Fantastic Four and Avengers did it themselves back in FF #243.
And leaving that aside, it seems odd to be worrying too much about realism. The Wasp is a talking severed head. Probably shouldn't take this thing too seriously.

I love this book so friggin much! The Surfer getting his head eaten off by the Hulk?!?!? WTF! That's some s*** that I've been waiting to see for a minute. What a great book. How cool is it for Wolverine to finally realize that his claws aint always gonna work, especially when they fall out? Great book, I just wish it would go on longer than just 5 books. Good work Marvel.

This is great great stuff. I literally have not had this much fun reading a comic since I was a kid. I usually find something to nitpick about, but not with this story. Damn.
I usually wait until Saturday to get my comics, but I had to call my LCS and make sure they set one aside for me. This is simply brilliant stuff. I can't wait for the next issue!

I would guess that Galactus just gets disgusted and leaves next issue.

They could still eat Galactus yknow. This is an alternate universe after all, since folks like wolverine and Hank Pym are wearing the worng costumes, and captain maerica is Colonel America, and was president for a short time.
Damn, I need the crossover tpb, my LCBS has the first two parts for $14 and $6 each.

This comic is just too good for words. I actually had to put down the brains I was eating so I could read the latest issue.

Boy they throw the zombie rule book out the window on this but I still like it.
Black Panther had better fine a better way to get around or he isn't going to last much longer. I am also surprised how much Hulk is being used in this story. Thats 2 times Hulk has brought the "big game" down for the others.

Is it just me, or was the deformed man carrying the severed head of a friend more accurately characterized as the Black Panther than, say, the man in his monthly book? :D

Hehe. You are correct sir. :)
And, as a Beast fan... I took a bit of morbid amusement in Hank this issue. :D
Shame he need get a bite of the Power Cosmic from Silver Surfer, but it was still amusing. ;)

As soon as I saw that scene...(which was pretty hilarious, Beast getting his head blown off by accident? It's right up there with Gambit's severed head flying through one of the early panels as the zombie hordes fought the Surfer)...I thought how funny that must be to CBR's own Beast.
Well, I figured it would be either funny or angrifying. Yeah, I made that word up. :p
. . .angrifying.
One more reason I love DH....

Hell yeah! This short appearance in another universe made more sense than anything written by Huddlin

i can not stress enpough how good this book is, i know everyone else likes it, but it is prue class.
im reading the walking dead trades at the mo as well and alothough they take a more serious look at zombies adn how it would affect the world, but that is a brilliant book too.

Yay, which Acolytes were in the issue? ^_^
I'm not completely sure if I've got them all right, but there were 7 shown, of which I'm sure of Cargill, one of the Kleinstocks, Cortez and Scanner (without any facial tattoos though).
The guy between the Kleinstock and Cortez might be Neophyte, and there's a bald black guy there too. Could be Rem-Ram, cause I don't remember any other black guys in the Acolytes.
The last guy seems pretty generic, and can hardly be seen cause he's in the back and his face is partially hidden by shadows.

Yay, thank you. <3 I actually got the issue and I could only recognize Cortez and Frenzy, I just figured the others were generic Acolytes. Especialy since there was never a big, black, bald guy on the team. But I could see how it could be Scanner and the Kleinstocks (and possibly Neophyte).

You're welcome. :)
Then again I just remembered that this is an alternate universe, and it wouldn't be completely impossible for the Acolytes to have a few members unknown to us. Oh well.

Wont happen. Its just as I called it in my Marvel Zombie #2 post (http://forums.comicbookresources.com/showthread.php?t=101388&page=3&pp=15). Its going to turn out to be one of the zombies that will be Galactus' new herald (maybe Jan's head).
I mean think about it. Galactus has always had problems finding the perfect herald to search for worlds to feed upon - usually because of the ethics surrounding genocide. If he gives the power cosmic to one of the zombies, then both the zombie herald and Galactus will have the same need to feed.

That'd be an interesting way to do it. All the remaining zombies fight to the death to see who gets to be Herald...
Though my money is still on zombie Galactus, roaming the cosmos in search of other cosmic space gods to eat. Tell me you can't see the series ending with a rotting Galactus busting into Uatu's sanctuary and eating him.
