That feels weird but I can't quite put my finger on why.
Fast feeder Wendy’s International has announced that it wants to attract more younger consumers between the ages of 16 and 28, and will do so by introducing a new breakfast menu next year, as well as offering a number of new salads and sandwiches and a new frosty milkshake/dessert flavor (vanilla).
These changes will be keyed to an efficiency program designed to cut up to $60 million from the company’s annual costs.
The company is working to recover from a fiscal year in which same-store sales were off by almost four percent, the first time it has seen such a decline in 18 years.

I thought they already *had* vanilla.

Some places go with flashier items, Wendy's goes with more plain.

First: Source please?
Second, the weird thing to me is, they didn't already have a vanilla frosty? It's a milkshake, right?

It used to bother me in the 80s when they had a painting of a pink/red frosty (which to me is strawberry) on the wall of the Jefferson City restaurant, but didn't serve one.

I bet you can't put your finger on it because it was severed and is now hiding in a vanilla frosty.

Vanilla Frosty is just weird and unkosher.

It's about damn time.
Seriously, it's vanilla. Why the hell did it take them this long to put this out? Weird.

I think whats failing Wendy's is the marketing campaign now. You lost the best advertising you could ever buy with Dave Thomas. The man could sell a hamburger.
I think they really need to find a way to have Thomas show up , be it by computer generated grpahics or a cartoon. But they need his image again to sell Wendy's. Adding a vanelli frosty and salads will help but ya need to get people into the stores.

I can't speak for other people, but those ads that use digitally altered footage of dead people to hawk shit really turn me off.
Still, using footage of Dave Thomas to sell something he willingly sold in life is better than using Fred Astaire to sell vacuum cleaners, or Bogie and Louis Armstrong to sell Diet Coke.

I think Dave wouldn't object. He cleary loved his Wendy's and he would do anything to make sure it got back on top. I remember watching his Biography on A & E and he said in the mid 80's Wendy's came to him when they were in trouble and he started doing the ads.
I think Dave would get a smile seeing himself selling his brand on Earth still. ;)

Milk shake? A Frosty is not a milk shake. It is the premier frozen confection. And it should be chocolate, not vanilla.

How did vanilla get to be so trendy lately? First they put it in every soda - now they want to take the best part about a Frosty and change it to boring old vanilla? Yick.

I assume the chocolate variety will still be available.
They should really go crazy and bring out strawberry flavor. Maybe in another 35 years?

Indeed.
I like chocolate, but not chocolate ice cream for some odd reason.

Wendy's should try to make decent food, perhaps that'll bring more people in....

I like chocolate as well, though I prefer it as a supporting flavor in things - like chocolate and peanut butter; or mint chocolate chip.

C'mon... their spicy chicken sandwich is divine. It's so good, I called in to customer support and told them to never discontinue that sandwich.
