Zeus is talking about how no one ever dared attack olympus but that a pantheon from the east come to attack him and they are an undead army unlike anything he has ever seen.Zeus in the meanwhile calls on achillies to lead the army,he is fighting and chopping off heads and is shown next to alexander wondering why they need this boy.

Ares is shown walking out of the house to his car loaded like robert deniro in taxidriver. He is shotup by the cops even in the head. He gets back up tells them to "fu$% off and shoots the cops trigger fingers off. He was telling them not to bother because he know's their weapons better than they do.

He is in a police chase telling himself through narrative that nothing will stop him from getting his son.He takes out swat truck's tires via machine gun. They try to blow up his car via helicoptor. he escapes and jumps onto the helicoptor and shoots it from underneath. He then jumps down and takes out a rocket launcher and blows it all to hell.

Achillies and 2 soldiers appear via lightning bolt and are telling ares they need him that olympus is under attack like never before. achillies reveals a scarred face that he got because of the eastern pantheon army and that his boy is up there. Ares tells him the scar improved his womanly looks.

Achillies unleahses a lightning bolt from his pouch and they are transported to olympus. The the eastern army attacks and it was found out the eastern pantheon stole alexander and ares decides to help achillies fight them off and then achillies said he would help ares against zeus if need be. Ares takes out a machine gun and launches a grenade and then he say's i grow tired of man's toys and takes out a staff and takes out 3 of them immediately.

Zeus then transports them all to his hallowed halls where basically hera and zeus beg ares for forgiveness of him and taking his son. Ares nearly chokes out Hera and slams Hercules for daring to speak against him.Zeus then takes a lightning bolt and slams it into hercules for attackiing ares. Ares then punches zeus and zeus appears on his knees begging ares to help him to defeat the eastern beasts along with himself and hercules.

In the eastern dead land the animals of the chinese zodiac are seperate spirits talking about how they want to destroy all the other pantheons and that they want a god of war of their own and alexander is next in line to be it. So they also figure to embarass the greek pantheon by taking one of their own. Lord Mikaboshi appears to the boy dressed in some kind of japanese spirit and gives him the cup of truth in where he learns about his father's true origin and also the partricide that takes place father to son father to son.

Alexander falls asleep and awakens into his godly form.

Very Very good issue

Awesome #2 issue, it's flowing so well and Oeming is keeping true to Ares's bastard personality. I really liked how Ares interacted with the Greek Gods and was so pissed that he even punched Zeus out. The action sequences were amazing, I especially liked Travel Foreman's battle scarred Achilles and Ares "punisher style" ass kicking until he broke out the futuristic bo for some hardcore owning.

The sub-plot with Alexander is interesting so I'm wondering how exactly that japanese god will turn Ares son against him and if he will age him to be older and much stronger. This is a fantastic mini, I'd definitely recommend it especially now when you can catch up with it.

Best thing Oeming has written for Marvel so far. In the past, he's had a little difficulty bringing personality to his characters. Granted, his killing off Thor arc didn't leave much room for much personality, and Beta Ray Bill has never been the most three dimensional character, even when Simonson was writing him. But Oeming has done something really unique with Ares. Good for him.

And Foreman keeps impressing.

What do you think of Ares as playing a role in the MU after this series?

I like him better than Hercules already (he's clearly tougher than him). If he recovers his son, he may decide it's foolish to hide from his past.

I finally picked up Ares (1 & 2) and it's great storytelling.

A couple of nitpicks though...why is Zeus' beard white, and why does he look so frail? I thought Olympians don't age very fast...and he was shown with a red beard just a few years ago in 'The End' and was well built. Also, I'm wondering where exactly Olympia/Olympus is...is it in Greece (Earth-616) or another plane of existence?

Anyway, great issues. Looking forward to number 3. I hope Ares sticks around in the MU after this series.

It's another plane of existance, but it has a portal to Mt. Olympus in Greece. That's how you get there.

Yeeeeeeeeeeeeaaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh finally Zeus is thought some humility.

Ares was right for punching Zeus in the face and he didn't even have to make zeus beg, Zeus begged out of himself!!!!!!!!

screw Thor or Hercules Ares is my favourite marvel , no my favourite comic deity/being with god powers and im counting every other comic company.

Oeming is the best Mythology writer Marvel ever had !!! And one of the best period !!
I hope that Ares gives birth to an ongoing with the same team.

In reality, Olympos and Olympia are 2 different places.

What's interesting is that he's still a small kid dressed up in war gear on that cover. I was hoping they would age him since it looks so odd to see him as a kid whupping ass.
