Ron,
I know this letter is going to sound a bit kiss@$$, and I apologize for that, but I just stumbled across this board and had to drop a line. In 1994, in a desparate attempt to keep a girlfriend, I quit reading comics. As is the case with any true passion, the habit died hard and in 1996 I picked up the old crutch again. As a result of my hiatus, I was lucky to have missed "the Clone Saga" and a few other craptacular phases in comics (bad girl, good girl... ugh.) But anyway... when I started back in 96, I just picked up titles to try. One of these happened to be "the Final Night" series. In this Karl Kesel series I found Kyle Rayner. I had never been a Green Lantern Fan, and I was reluctant to try the book, but I picked up #82 and was surprised - not to find that Kyle was a cocky fearless fighter pilot - but rather an everyman artist. I bought Gl for about a year before I had to collect all the issues I had missed from #48 until then. I stuck with this character through the good times and bad, and Kyle has been my favorite DC character since. I wanted to thank you because, while my other everyman fave, Spider-man, was pretty bland, Green Lantern always had engrossing stories... Stories that made you feel emotionally involved with the characters. No writer has been able to replicate that personal touch with Kyle since you were on the book (although some have done okay) and I'm not sure I would have stuck with comics if not for your skills. I was disapointed when you left... Ecstatic when you came back... and horrified when Hal was brought back. Since You hooked me, I've collected the entire Kyle canon, I own 8 pages of original art from the run (3 from my first issue #82, one from #51 with Kyle in the original GL costume, and the rest are other Banks pages), and 2 color guides (of two original pages I have, giving me pretty much all the art steps in those pages.)
So, as you can tell, I'm a pretty big fan... I followed you around many projects since then and I've always enjoyed your work. Thanks for being you and I am eagerly awaiting ION. I know you won't let us down!
Again, sorry for the lenghty comment! I'll be better and more concise next time! :)

Richard, how very, very nice of you to say. You're quite welcome.

It's always flattering to hear from someone who has enjoyed some of the work I've done. Glad to hear you'll be aboard for Ion. We'll be doing some new and different things with Kyle, as well getting back in touch with who he is and what makes him tick. Hope you like it.

Thanks for taking the time to write.
