Marvel Romance Redux

Did anyone pick this up? Reasonably funny, some nice artwork from Colan & Buscema, I nearly spat coffee across the room when I came to to the story 'inked' by Vince Colletta, retitled:

"I Was Inked by Sparky Hackworth!"

worth the cover price alone :)

I bought it because ROMANCE REDUX contains a story by the one-and-only JOHN LUSTIG, of Last Kiss Comics:

but John gets some stiff competition from other writers (Keith Giffen, Roger Langridge, Jeff Parker and Jimmy Palmiotti) in the yucks department.

Taking old formulaic romance comics, re-dialoguing them, working with the original characters and panels as drawn, and making the brand-new scenario funny is a lot harder than it would appear. Every story in this book is a winner, even if they are fanboy in-jokes. I enjoyed it, but then I've been a fan of John's Last Kiss stuff for years now.
