Mixed up Arguss Eye - Hellboy converses with Squid hose

Not knowing the real dope here on this board, I don't know if it's cool to post stuff, and then post stuff on a new thread. Or what. So, I finished this image (I had mentioned it on the thread entitled "Enjoy..." http://forums.comicbookresources.com/showthread.php?t=106329 ), and thought I'd share. It's inspired by the early Hellboy books, I think they had a harsher color deal working compared to the present books. Don't get me wrong, I love both, but I get that funny feeling about how much I loved picking up those early issues. Anyway, this is my version of a kind of squid hose deal. I ate sushi tonight, and was feeling very full.

Very interesting, except for the "granpa pants" that Hellboy is wearing, where his belt comes up to about the level of his pectoral muscles. ;)

Seriously, though, I like it. Very well done picture!

Thanks, Stygian -- A little point of clarification seems to be in order here, one of the things I like most about how Mike draws Hellboy (and most everything else), is that he keeps a lot of detail in shadow and implies complexities. This image was from a bunch of notebook sketches I did that have Hellboy just covered with accoutrements -- tools, pockets, weapons, packs, amulets, relics, etc. etc. The stuff is all strapped onto his torso and legs (you should see the cargo pants); it's everywhere. So, anyway, that's why his abdomen is covered with stuff. Guess he needs his crap. That's how I dress him up anyway. I'm working on a even more funky version. Perhaps I'll get it done one day. I also have laid out a drawing I call Hellboy in the kitchen, with big red cocking with all this strange equipment, and eating a big sandwich. Someday.
