What medical tests and scans can Superman perform with his vision and other senses?

Loads I'd have thought. His X-Ray vison can see colour, and he seems to be able to look through walls without looking through the things on the other side of the wall so it's a lot more advanced than real X-Ray, and could probably diagnose all sorts if he has the medical knowledge. Expecially if he uses his microsopic vision to look down to a cellular level

On top of that he has super hearing to hear the heart and breathing.

He can also see electromagnetic energy.

And, for that matter, he can look at DNA just by glancing at someone... and tell whether it's human DNA or even if it's been slightly enhanced at all and how.

And, of course, he is in fact a fully qualified surgeon (http://superman.ws/tales4/the_girl_who_didn't_believe/?page=7)licensed to practice medicine. ;)

Even Post-Crisis, he performed surgery on Power Girl, I think.

Oy. I can already see the wave of jokes.

HA!

he also diagnosed the priest's cancer in "For tommorrow" with his x ray vision.

I wonder if he can perform laser surgery with his heat vision...

he used his heat vision because regular scaples were no good on her. He used a machine he looked into a aiming devise i think and he was supervised and guided by a surgon. There was some doubt how much of her abilities she lost because of the procedure. At the time she did lose some. Not as strong, could not fly any more only leap tall buildings. PG seemed satisfied after she tested her self.

I believe she was holding that mangy cat at the time!

And the coolest part is when Father Leone asks, "can you cure cancer?".

The only thing Superman says is "I don't know. And honestly, I won't try..."

He did on Power Girl, IIRC.

Power Girl suffered severe internal injuries after a battle with the Gray Man in Justice League Europe, but her invulnerable skin made conventional surgery impossible. Sue Dibny called Superman in to assist, and Kilowog rigged up a device to hold Superman's head completely still so he could use his heat vision as a precise laser scalpel to perform the surgery that saved PG's life.

Not bad.

Intrestingly enough, if you look hard enough, you can find a suprising number of instances post crisis where Superman is performing some sort of medical surgery or precedure on someone, mostly with either his heat or x-ray vision.

Two off the top of my head are......

In Batman: Hush where towards the end, Batman asks him to use his Heat Vision to remove an implant from his brain.

And in Birds of Prey when he helped Dr. Mid-Nite perform surgery on Barbara Gordon when she had the Brainiac virus.

Superman isn't the only one performing medicine without a license however, as I seem to rememeber the JLA operating on the brain of a man with God-like powers in order to stop him, and they also shrank down to stop a society of viruses living in some kid or something.

And of course let's not forget all of Zatanna's lobodomies, lol.

No, th@t w@s merely @ sc@re t@ctic he used on M@nchester Bl@ck. He w@s more or less just tr@sh-t@lking. If you'd re@d the entire p@nel, you'd know th@t Superm@n w@s s@ying th@t to show Bl@ck WHY he wouldn't use the s@me t@ctics Bl@ck @nd his crew h@d used.

(Ok@y. Here's why I used the @ sign. My wife spilled w@ter on the computer @ couple of nights @go, @nd @ few keys don't work right now. I could continue typing like THIS, or I could in * different w*y. See wh*t I me*n?) ;)

Agreed. Although I don't think Zatanna's "surgeries" have anything to do with real medicine.

A thought: why don't you merely utilize the letter "a" or "A" from someone else's message, but copying & pasting it? It might be an extra keystroke every time you type, but will save you the hassle for the time being.

I'll even help some more:

Enjoy! :-)

That I didn't know. Who put that implant there, in the first place?

Thomas Elliot.

One of Batman's jump lines was cut, and he fell fracturing his skull.

Bruce tapped to Alfred in morse code to take him to his Childhood friend Tommy Elliot, who just happens to be the world's greatest surgeon.

Tommy during surgery put the implant in there as a way to send subliminal messages about himself to Batman.

Tommy did this because either

A: he was Hush

B: he was working for Hush

or

C:some combo/variation of A & B

I don't have a real answer for you because DC didn't give us a clear one, they may have now, but I was past caring about Hush 2 years ago so maybe someone else can help you with the finer details.

Thanks for the info, Tequila.

People, any other details? I'm curious.
