i did a search and i didnt really see much so please dont jump down my throat if this has already been gone over before. 2 questions.
1.In Smallville does anyone think we will hear from or anything about Zod again before the series ends?
2. In the comics when Superman fought, i think he was called The General? The guy who broke Supermans Jaw and Put a beat down on in in outerspace.. the one who had the red armor and got his power from a red sun. Anyway when he was born he said he was visited by something called Zod, and therefore he took that as his new name... Was that suposta be General Zod's Ghost that visited the General or have i missed something? If it was him think we will see anything else come about , or do you think that after Crisis Zod will be back because they brought back E2?
I would like to see Zod back, i mean Luther is great and all but Zod seemed to be able to bring something else ou of superman, after all Zod did make Superman break his own rule about killing, Luther could never do that.
Dont beat me up to bad if i confused anyone. little confused myself.

yeah that is kind of a rambling question, but as far as I know Zod last appeared as the main villain in "For Tommorrow" which was awesome and you should definately go check that out. Although the Zod in that story may have been a construct of Superman's mind, I'm pretty sure he was one of the real people in the story. Anyway this story might just confuse you more, but its pretty amazing if you give it a chance. Hopefully Zod will escape from the phantom zone someday, I'm pretty sure that's where he is now if that answers your question.

i thought it sucked badly.
Superman proved that once again he was the wussified and boring version of the golden age take no shit from nobody superman.
The rumor on the internet is that Brainaic will return to try and free Zod and that Zod has some role in Season Finale. But you got to watch out for those interent rumors. Could be true, could be false. I hope they leave Zod out, because I would think that only a Fully Powered Superman should take on Zod.
As for the comic, which Zod do you want to come back! There have been four or five version of the character. There is the Zod from the pocket universe, that the time trapper created. This is the one Superman killed with Kryptonite. he returned as ghost once in one of the Superman Annuals.
Then you got the Zod, from the "Return to Krypton" storyline. He vanished in an explosion, but swore he would return. Then you got the General who broke Superman's jaw. These Zod took he name from a void/ghost that called itself Zod. Was it the ghost of the Pocket Universe Zod or the RtK Zod. Personally I think the General was going to be the RtK Zod transported to Earth, but DC chicken out at the last second. Then you got the Zod from "For Tomorrow". This Zod was trapped in the phantom zone by Jor-el, definitely using the Birthright origin. While both "Birthright" and "For Tomorrow" sucked, I kinda liked this Zod. He was most like the original Zod from the Silver Age. One funny thing to note, with the exception of the General, who was a mutated human, and the Void/Ghost Zod, none of the Zods have come from DCU proper. They were all in other dimision.

Yeah Zod has a pretty confusing history.
I for one thought Birthright and For tommorrow were the best stories I've read about Superman in a long time, but to each his own I guess. For tommorrow is just so epic I don't see how people couldn't like it. It was kind of hard to follow when it first came out, but if you go back and read it in one sitting, I think its awesome. I do however see how these takes on Superman could tick off some of the purists.
Anyway, hail Zod.

KNEEL BEFORE ZOD!
For Tomorrow and Birthright kick ass, IMO.

I thought bringing back Zod or "a" Zod was a cool idea. I thought we were gonna see a bad ass villain for once, who would rival Luthor but I was dissappointed.
He looks like an old man but has a body similar to Supermans, then he has armor. Why armor? Doesn't he have the same powers as Superman?
I thought the movie Zod was the best.

I think Zod will be freed in the Season Finale and will end up being the Big Bad in Season 6 in a massive drive to build support for the series next year. The goal is seven seasons and I suspect they'll want to have some stunts on hand to keep viewers and the network hooked through the end of Season Seven.

one zod was a russian equal to superman who even got nip/tucked to look just like the man of steel - he wore the red armor and tricked luthor while he was still president

I really like for Tomorrow. I just read it yesterday. There were one or two confusing things about it. It took them too long to explain some stuff.
Loved Zod though. The only reason he wore armor was so he could be pointy.
I'd like to see Father O.M.A.C make a reappearance too.

I disagree. They've tried very hard so far to shoehorn themselves into the Donner continuity. I think Zod will remain a looming threat, and a motivation for other characters like Brainiac, but he'll stay in the Phantom Zone.
Who might come back are those two evil Kryptonians.

Well, according to the Smallville series creators, they're not bound to any continuity including Donner's.
I'm inclined to think that you don't set a gun on the table unless you're prepared to fire it by act five...
... And quite frankly, intent aside, I think WB will demand major twists regardless of their affect on "continuity" before they'll renew the show.
Zod is out there on the table. So is the costume. Both MUST show up before this series ends. Every opportunity to get an audience can, will and must be used for this series to last another two years.
If that means Clark marrying Lana only to have Pete Ross shoot her dead, they will do just that.

So who's going to play him, then? Stamp? They've already shown him as Zod.
Yeah, and then they could do the whole "actually Jor-El really was Zod the whole time which is why he's such a dick" and I can bang my head against the wall and everyone will be happy.

I've been saying they could be doing this, to my girl-friend for a while. You can't help it when you hear Stamps voice and you think... hmmm.... I wonder if they are going to...

According to a recent interview to Al Gough, it seems that Stamp is Jor-El, and that the plans are for Jor-El to make an appearance - in person - in the series. Gough also said that Jor-El would be Terence Stamp, but it's just a matter of Stamp's availability and that they would only do it if it serves the story.

Ok this is a real newbie question as for as Supes go but as I've been dipping in and out of DCU for years (much more a Marvel man myself) here goes
Question: Is the Zod character in For Tomorrow the same character killed off in the early 90 by Superman in the Phantom Zone? And what of the Zod character who hung around during the Our Worlds At War storyline? (which I gave up on after a few issues)

First, welcome to the boards.
And the answer is no. The Zod from OWaW was a metahuman whose power came from red light. The Zod from For Tomorrow was the Kryptonian Zod, put by Jor-El in The Phantom Zone. And the Zod Superman killed was from a pocket dimension.

There's a distinct possibility that the Red Armor Zod from Pokolistan and the Kryptonian Zod from the Phantom Zone are connected.
During the Red Armor Zod's origin, he was guided by a malevolent voice that callld itself Zod. At the time, people assumed it was either the ghost of the Pocket Universe Zod or the ghost Zod from the Brainiac-created Silver Agey Krypton.
I still think the Red Armor Zod was suppose to be the Zod from the Return to Krypton storyline, but for some reason DC wussy out at the last second

Zod first appeared in Adventure Comics #283 (April 1961).

Yeah, DC really screwed the pooch with Zod by first retroactively removing all his past appearances prior to 1986, then re-introducing an alternate reality version of the same character, only to have the rebooted Superman execute him under morally dubious circumstances, then introduce a new Darth Vader/Doctor Doom version of Zod and yet another alternate reality version of the original just to confuse things even more. Then a new version of the Kryptonian Zod who looks like he was designed in 1993 but didn't debut until a couple years ago.
At this point, I'm just gonna ignore all this nonsense and assume that Superman and Zod are longtime enemies who've clashed on numerous occasions, but he was always the same guy, a Kryptonian General who was exiled to the Phantom Zone by Jor-El for his attempted coup of the Science Council.

I'm hoping that Superman gets a new post-IC Kryptonian villain and that all the previous Zods were retconned away due to the retcon punch.

Zod was originally going to be in Superman Returns, but Singer's only choice to play him turned him down, so they removed the character from the script and stuck with only Luthor. He wanted Jude Law for Zod.

The Phantom Zone has plenty of mysterious and freaky properties. Presumably, Zod found a way to communicate with the outside world.

That would have been... intriguing at least, although I'm sick of Law appearing in every damn movie. Although I guess you could say that about Spacey too.

PatrickG

Both. Although he looks different in the comics than in the films... And he was a minor character until the film.
Since the film, various fakes, clones and imposters have shown up but the "real" Zod hasn't had much screentime at all. In fact, he just got reintroduced a couple of years ago after twenty years of imposters and doppelgangers but no actual Zod.

IIRC, he first appeared in Siegel and Shuster's "Superman" newspaper strip, as did most of the stuff about Krypton.
