okay, something punchy said is making me post these early paintings of mine...I never would, but hey, how else do ya learn? By looking back at past works and learning from them, that's how. and some of them aint too shabby.

My suggestion to punchy(or any aspiring artist) is to just do it. I hate to quote Nike, but it's true. Just throw some paint on the canvas, and PAINT! I started painting very late in the game. I was 23, but had an extensive drawing background. Color scared the hell out of me...but I dove in, and here's what happened...

The first one was going to be for the death of Colossus, then 9-11 happened, and it turned into more. A lot of people got their wings that day

Superselfportrait...is pretty much self explanitory.

Shrine...is Batman and superman B&W oil paintings behind three busts.

1 Kingdom Come Bats, he needs to be painted to look more metallic.

2 Me(painted blue at the moment...I use it as a pallette a lot), and...

3 Superman bust...damaged by Doomsday...okay, it broke in the move, but Doomsday is a much cooler explanation.

I used to have two other similar paintings with different color schemes. They were stolen from the studio.

I was told to take that as a compliment. That's the shittiest compliment I've ever gotten.

This next group is charcoal on canson. It's a series I did of rock stars taken before their time.

With John, I took the "classic" picture,and I tried to emphasize the yin yang, with light and shadow...I could have done it more convincingly.

Ah, Jimi...playing the guitar with his teeth, while his guitar imitates his magnificence...and it screams his voice out the back of it. How 'bout that. Jimi makes the misic, and the guitar sings.

Jim. When you're strange...faces come out of the rain.

Kurt...man, while I hate what he did, he's still a favorite of mine. He wasn't the first to say it, but he certainly personified it..."I's better to burn out, than to fade away." Hence my rendering of a match being struck. fast bright flame, extinguished too quickly.

thanks, and you're right..the only reason I haven't been oil paining, is because all my paint, and brushes are in Florida...but in 5 days they will be back to me....

yeah I have used acrylics before. the trick with them, is layers...because they dry so damn fast. It's kinda hard to do, but acrylic can be watered down...or painted thick, and it'll not look too plasticly.

I realize the anatomy in this is horrible...but it was one of my early acrylics...
and not too flat, or plasticky.

Which one is your favorite?Toss-up between the first two, I think. I like the first one because of the way the blocks of colour don't line up, and the second just because I like the white dropped out of the red.

It's funny, because my professor decided to make us spend 3 entire days drawing a skull. Like we hadn't done it before. I finished early, got bored, and decided to throw eyes in the sockets to make it look more interesting. He didn't think it was funny. So I dropped his class.

I absolutely love the movies, but some things I see differently. I want to do more Lord of the Rings stuff, specifically Ring Wraiths, Sauron, and a few epic battle scenes.

Also, I like the Harry Potter movies too, but I see them much differently in my head when I read the books...and i love the books.

I've done some LOTR stuff, but my hand and style tends toward exaggeration and simple lines, which doesn't complement the book very well.

I'd love to see more LOTR stuff from you, and I'm a total Tolkien geek, so that's high praise, just so you know. :)
