View Full Version : Elect the First Citizen of the Month of 2006!

Sir Tim Drake
01-28-2006, 03:00 PM
Time for the first COTM election of the new year (both the Chinese New Year and the other kind)! The polls are now open.

To refresh your memory, the winners of the last six elections are:

July 2005: Rallura
August 2005: i_mmmchocolate
September 2005: K'Nort
October 2005: Dreadstar
November 2005: Joe Rice
December 2005: Gilda Dent and Paradox

And here are the rules. Please remember that votes for banned posters will not be counted. There is ample precedent for this policy.

1. Select the CBR citizen who, over the course of the past month, has consistently conducted himself/herself in a manner that has helped to foster a friendly, welcoming atmosphere at the CBR Forums. This poster is being recognized for being friendly, courteous, and helpful. REMEMBER: COTM is *not* a popularity contest; it is a recognition for being an exemplary member of the community.

2. Your COTM nominee *must* be a registered CBR Forums member with a track record of no fewer than ten posts (at least one of which must have been posted during the month of the COTM in question) at the time that this thread is posted. Votes for non-registered individuals; members without the requisite track record at time of voting; or members who are permanently banned will not be counted.

3. You may submit *one* vote for your chosen nominee. Fractional votes or votes for more than one nominee are not allowed, and such votes will be disregarded.

4. All votes must be for individual posters only. Votes for couples or larger groups will not be counted.

5. Please be clear and explicit about whom you are voting for. Vague words of praise that are not explicitly indicated as votes will not be construed as votes. Moreover, clearly identify who your nominee is by using only the nominee's complete, current, official CBR username as it appears on his/her profile. No nicknames or abbreviations please.

6. All questions and comments about COTM should be directed to me (Sir Tim Drake) at Sir_Tim_Drake@yahoo.com. Alternately, send me a PM. Community Forum Moderator Brian Cronin will neither answer questions about nor handle administration of the COTM election process.

7. Avoid thread drift. Indicate your choice for COTM and a few quick comments about your choice in the *same post*. Any other discussion needs to be taken up in a separate thread.

8. This election will be open until midnight Eastern time on Tuesday, January 31st. After that time no further votes will be counted.

Enjoy the voting!

I vote for Mike Smith. It would be good enough that he was an intelligent and well-spoken guy who earns the respect he gets, but he's also genuinely nice and considerate.

He extended a hand to me when I needed it, and that's exactly what a CoTM should do.

To be honest, I REALLY want to vote for Gilda again. As "CotM"y as she was last month, this month it got amped up another notch, I think. But, that would hardly be fair.

So, I'll throw in with Dr. Hfuhruhurr. Always consistantly a good poster and a great guy.

Note to the committe: I did NOT buy Steeltownr's vote. I just forgot to file my CotM lobbyist disclosure form... (I am flattered by his vote, as well as from the other distinguished posters who mentioned my name).

My vote, however, goes to Gilda Dent. I've gotten quite a kick out of her posts this past month.

Let me give a shout out for an honorable mention to Shellhead. Top notch work this month, young man!

However, my vote must go to Yeoman, cuz you know...mob mentality. Also, shameless self-promotion is funny, and in my book, there is no better contribution to a community than humor.
