Good lord.

Hang on to yourself and imagine Gail writing these four all working together.

Harley Quinn.
Poison Ivy.
Jane Doe.
Livewire.

Terrifying chemistry. The Anti-Birds of Prey.

The revolution WILL be bloody, WILL be funny, and WILL be broadcast.

Introduce Roxy Rocket from the Batman Animated Series.

And Baby Doll.

Lockdown's already been introduced.

I'd love to see an all Dini-verse tribute issue.

Maybe it's just me, but I never liked that whole "we're all women" gimmick in comcs. In fact that's one of the things that, on occasion, annoys me about Birds of Prey. Sure it's been better lately, with Savant and Creote (and Blue Beetle was a supporting cast member for a bit) but when it is it just feels weird. Like when Oracle was in trouble and suddenly all the female heros came in to help her. I was kinda asking myself why Batman, Superman, Green Lantern, Flash or, hell, any B or C list male hero wasn't helping out. Did Black Canary just decide she didn't want any men around for some reason? Wouldn't you want the best agents, regardless of gender?

So a supervillian outfit whose whole point seems to be that they're "hawt girlz?" No thank you.

There should be more supervillain teams whose whole point is that they're hawt girlz! Girlz rock!

Since, you know, in real life, people of the same gender NEVER group together.

-hee hee hee-

I never got the idea that there was anything artificial in the BoP being together when Gail was writing. It was just some people who wanted to work together, because of meshing personalities, doing their thing. It happens in the real world. Guys group together, girls group together. People of similar careers hang out together.

But yeah, I'm sure with you on the whole "why don't more guys respond?" In times of danger (in my experience) (firefighting/rescue work) everyone who can respond, responds, without an editorial filter. Men AND women.

It's cool when that happens in comics. *grin* In fact I find it charming when Nightwing pops in. That whole "Heya, sure, I'll help, how ya doin'?" vs. Batman's "Gotham is MINE! I work ALONE!" *hee hee*

Trouble might be, some writers make girls groups feel artificial by not getting the chemistry right. THEN it feels like hawt chix forced together.

...Hawt Chix forced together, in jail, on Wesson Oil and Twister mats.

*snaps out of it* Sorry, I got Super Sonic's fantasy by mistake there. :)

I suspect the other four wouldn't feel comfortable working with her. Hey, even supervillains have limits.

Yes, it can feel very unforced at times. Of course the more people it gets the more silly it becomes. One woman working on her own? Not at all weird. Two working together? Same. Three? About the same, one focus and two friends. Four women with no men working with them? Well that's when it starts to depend I think. If it's four women with male supporting cast I can suspend disbelief. When we get to scenes like when Oracle was captured or larger teams (JLA+ size) it just kills my suspension of disbelief.

Also I think that any group of people put together with the idea being not "these people will have interesting interactions" but rather "cheesecake!" is going to be not so good.

It does get kind of weird at time though as Forsaken_one mentioned.

Especially since before, Oracles had no problem calling Beetle and Gardner's brother when she needed extra muscle.

Because both of them were favorities of Chuck Dixon.

Um, did you forget Dinah called *Superman* for help? Or that when she called in help for the Singapore arc, she called Ted Grant? Or that when she needed help again, she called Conner Hawke? And there was that appearance by that other archer Dinah called when she needed help.....

Well I can't speak for Allister, but I wasn't saying "OMG the Birdz never use guyzes!!!" I was saying there are times when they don't that it just becomes silly. The best example in Birds of Prey is when Oracle got kidnapped and Black Canary called in favors for all the female superheros but, for some strange reason, none of the male. And, when this happens, it hurts if not downright kills my suspension of disbelief for that storyline, especially considering how many more male heros (and villians) there are than female heros or villians in general.

So I was saying "at times, this happens which I don't like." Not that guys never show up; that'd be just silly considering we're just leaving a storyline where Creote and Savant left the employ of Oracle.

And, going back to my original statement, having a four plus member "hawt girlz squad" fighting the Birds of Prey would most likely feel forced to me, which I wouldn't like. Furthermore the idea of putting a number of people together just because they're hot might work for a pop band but I'm not really into that for my comics. I've graduated Jr. High thank you. ;)

And I have no clue who Jane Doe is. Maybe they were saying [insert favorite female character here]?

"Jane Doe" is a patient at Arkham Asylum, who kills and takes on the identities of those she kills. She's a cipher, but can imitate her victims flawlessly.

She's from Dan Slott's "Arkham Asylum: Living Hell" miniseries.

As a study of the meaning of identity, I figure Gail could do some way neat (and quietly disturbing) things with her.

Cam63

She'd be investigated by the Secret Service if she ever started talking just like Dubbya, then ?
