View Full Version : Is Alex Luthor alone now?

With SB-Prime dead or at least out of the picture, who do you think is left or will stay to help AL in his crusade.
Kal-L might also turn against him in the end. the society might also get pissed when they find -out that they were assembled not by Luthor but AL.
The OMACS might also get derailed by Batman and Company.
Unless.... There's a bigger hand behind Alex Luthor who's the Biggest Bad of all.
What'd you think?

Well, there doesn't seem to be anyone around.
What??!!

I betcha its going to be Braniac. I'm not reading Infinite-I have no clue what's going on-and I'm unfamiliar with DC history.
But with all the Superman comics I've read, Braniac is always behind it with Lex being the frontman.

i dunno, it could be that the Anti-monitor, all this time, has been plotting in a near-coma, and this is his ultimate plot to weaken these heroes who had once defeated him....

I hope he's the mastermind. I don't really want to see someone waiting in the shadows. Alex is a cool villian, and I'd be disappointed if he turns out to be a pawn.
Although it'd be kind of cool if he teamed up with Jonathan Kent from The Kingdom. :D

Brainiac is good guess, there a line from the original crisis where he says he has a plan to survive. This is from memory, but when I menetioned this to someone else they remebered it also.

Didn't we already see Braniac in Outsiders and Teen Titans though?
It seems weird if he is the big bad too.

Brainiac from Earth-2!
That would be a completely shite ending to what I feel has been a solid crossover/mini so far.
We've seen Brainiac in charge in how many different other stories now?
*Possible Spoilers*
Earth-2. Red Son. We even saw the Luthor-Brainiac team in Whatever Happened to the Man of Tomorrow?
I'd like to see something that's a bit more inspired.

Brainiac from Earth-2!
....
I'd like to see something that's a bit more inspired.
That would be great if the creative team finally revealed that the Pre-Crisis looking Brainiac, that showed up after Superman #200 and has appeared in the Teen Titans/Outsiders arc, is actually from another universe. It implies that the Post-Crisis Brainiac is still out there somewhere.
*misses Brainiac 13*

Fake Spoiler Warning!
Infinite Crisis #5 opens with Alex Luthor dancing around the Tower to Bob Seger's 'old time rock 'n' roll' in his underwear, socks, sunglasses, and gold breast plate.

Doesn't Pariah tell Alex that there's another alpha predator and he won't survive his coming or something to that effect?
Of course, that's where Pariah - whose power is not to die - gets killed by a knife, soo...

I think Alex is working on his own now, which since he seems to be of the typical arrogant Luthor-sort, he doesn't mind (Superboy played his part already, and was seemingly being just kept around as a means of defending him before the OMACs got there. He lived his usefulness). I'm fairly certain the Anti-Monitor is going to return, but I'm pretty sure THAT'S not part of Luthor's game plan. Probably one of those "road to hell is paved with best intentions" situations ... or selfish intentions in this case. The Anti-Monitor naturally seeks the destruction of all positive matter stuff ... don't see that fitting well in any of Luthor's plans (unless he's gone completely off the deep end). Remember, Pariah warned Luthor (even if he didn't know it was Alex yet) that there was an "apex predator," and even he wouldn't survive his coming.

Wasn't Pariah confused? He thought that Society Luthor was the real Luthor, but Society Luthor killed him. He also said that Luthor thought he was *this* planet's apex predator, so wouldn't that mean someone already on Earth at the time?

Anyone want to make a wager about Pariah's supposed "death?"

I think that Alex Luthor is right that something is corrupting/darkening the universe and that the real tragedy will be that he decided to manipulate people and try to crack the universe into pieces as a solution when, in the end, the "apex predator" that's corrupting the universe won't be defeated without honesty and cooperation among the heroes.

I think you've got it all wrong. Pariah thought he was talking to the Luthor behind the Secret Six ("our" Luthor), he didn't know the one who had him kidnapped was red-haired Alexander Luthor. In Villains United 6, Alexander goes to get information out of Pariah and the latter tells him "There are other worlds, other possibilities. And there is another Luthor." to which Alexander replies: I know, you poor deluded fool. I'm him. Guess you're not quite as perceptive as you thought".

My guess is that he isn't. His even being there would seem to indicate that the DCU might be destroyed or threatened. Although what Alex Luthor was doing was dangerous.
I can't get over the "playing billards with the universe" comment that Alex Luthor made in VU #6.
I'm guessing that there is another twist to this. If Pariah is alive, then Alex Luthor hasn't killed anyone. Did he order Bludhaven destroyed, or did the Society do it without his knowledge? Everything he directly has ordered (that we've seen) doesn't involve killing. Superboy-Prime was horrified he killed someone.
I don't like the idea that someone else is behind this, but what if they haven't killed anyone? Does that make them the Super-baddies that we think they are?
My wager is 2-1 that Pariah is alive.

Forgot about Psycho Pirate. What does AL have on him that got Psycho Pirate involved in this?
Although plot-wise, i dont know how to string him in, but i'd be cool to see Darkseid on AL's side after helping out the heroes in COIE.

I'll have to look back at the JSA Classified issues but I think he promised Psycho Pirate his own earth and POSSIBLY promised him Power Girl.
Now that Alex is in complete control of the Society and OMACs, he really doesn't need Superboy anymore.

Strange thing is
his S-Shield is the same red-and black design as our Superboy's. Probably just coincidence as they want to make Superboy Prime look all dark and evil, but perhaps an indication of a link to the other Superboy. You never know!

she has multiplied surreptitiously.
that dark shadow that entered her contained anti-monitor essence.
she knows all about pre-crisis and the multiverse.
it's her.

Well, they did JUST establish that Donna Troy was merged with the Anti-Monitor's own (never before seen) Harbinger after Crisis. So I'd expect that to play a role in this story since making Donna into a never before seen character with ties to the Anti-Monitor would be weird unless they planned to follow through.

I read those again yesterday, and yes AL promised PowerGirl to the Psycho Pirate.
I think that Luthor is not the main thing here. There are plot twists that still have to unfold. We need an answer to the cosmic unrest and the reason why heroes so powerfull are stranded in space fighting a war that doesn't seem to have meant a damn thing to earth before. If your reality, life and planet was about to split in 2, where would you want to be!? Let's just hope they didn't take all those powerful guys to space just to make Earth a bit more vulnerable so the plot would work...
Some more things could happen, when they dispose of Luthor, Superboy could come back... with the speed force.
We need 1 more issue to see where this thing is headed.

Maybe Joker may kill Alex at the end.
I really want to see Alex about to finally finish his plan and win in the end. He has all the Supermen on the knees, his machine is ready to fire for the last time, he is about 10 seconds away from complete and total victory. Then the Joker just walks in and says, "You forgot about someone" and shoots Alex. "Love me or hate me, you can never ignore me."

The Society has been suitably ignored so far in Infinite Crisis that will probably address next issue if next issue previews are accurate.

I wouldn't say they've been ignored, except in issue #4.
Issue #1: The Society destroyed the Freedom Fighters.
Issue #2: Different Society members attacked Power Girl, until Kal-L showed up and smashed them.
Issue #3: Society members take down their own Black Adam and deliver him to Alex Luthor.

I predict a huge battle between them and the heroes in issue #6 or #7. Issue #5 will be heavily focused on the battling Supermen.

That's a definitely possibility.
But if there is a bigger bad than Alex, I would expect it to the cliffhanger at the end of #5 so as to give it 2 issues to flush out.
The Society and the heroes will have to come to an understanding around the middle of #6 (maybe after doing some fighting) and gather to do battle with the big bad as a cliffhanger in #6.
