Guys,

I have been trying to find out what ever happened to Max Mercury? I was following the Flash family for a while and then I stopped and when I went back I wasn't able to figure it out. Any leads would be appreciated.

I'm not sure where he went following the cancellation of Impulse, but Didio said he would appear "briefly" in Infinite Crisis, which he now has, and then wouldn't be seen after that. Also, Jay Garrick said at the end of "IC" #4 (I think) that the speed force is gone.

He was trapped in the Speed Force by Jay Garrick's old enemy, Rival. It happened towards the end of IMPULSE. #83 and #89, I think.

His spirt was lost in the speedforce timestream and his body taken over by Rival. That particular storyline was never resolved since Impulse got cancelled and now Max is apparently shown as being one with the speedforce which would indicate that he is dead.

Rival made a re-appearance in the "Injustice Be Done" storyline from JSA #16-20. I vaguely remember him baiting Jay into a fight by committing a series of super-speed murders across the country that spelled "Flash," but I can't remember what happened afterwards.

Their battle ended with both Jay and Rival being sucked into the Speed Force, and only Jay emerging. But that story came out a few years before the end of Impulse, so Rival's current whereabouts are a mystery.

As for Max, as marshal99 said, he's dead. Hanging out with Barry Allen and Johnny Quick is a pretty good indication. :)

Thanks guys. I thought it was likely he was dead from the company he was keeping but I am glad to see that the story was never resolved which explains why I couldn't find it.
