The orb thingy that floats around with Alexander Luthor looks an awful llot ike Solaris which, in Morrison's DC One Milion continuity, grows to become Superman's main enemy. Any chance this thing is the Solaris seedling or is it just a visual coincidence?

probably choice B.
Yeah, just a visual coincidence. If you read DC One Million, you'd see that Solaris isn't a seedling. The JLA and Justice Legion A built him in the present to save Earth. So he's currently in his normal, sun-sized self.
Another theory is that Alex stole the solar computer core which was basically Solaris' brain. It's easily the most powerful computer in the 21st century (outside of anything on Colu).

Solaris does, however, get a nod over in All-Star Superman this month.

I noticed that. And in an interview, Morrison hinted that Solaris might make a full appearance in All-Star Superman.
