1. What does your screenname mean? Why did you pick it?

The meaning is pretty obvious, I think. Came up with it years before i'd ever known there'd be an internet, decided to whip it out since I liked it so much.

(Although this was not my first CBR username, my original was Vindicator)

2. What X-Books do you read? You are here cause you read them.

I'll come back to edit this once all the title adjustments and new series are all out. For now, i'll say "some of them".

3. What is your favorite movie?

Impossible to answer. So many good ones.

4. What music do you listen to?

I like some new age, some electronica, and some of whatever they're calling alternative/modern rock these days.

5. Tell us about you.

I used to moderate this board, until that BrianCronin fella swindled me out of it in a game of Sabacc. Fastest hunk of junk on the internet...

6. Do you give a "X" about us

Sure, why not.

05-16-2004, 06:04 PM
Hmm, I haven't done one of these in ages! I love talking about myself:)

1. What does your screenname mean? Why did you pick it?
Basically, I had some friends first call me a Go Go Boy after a night out at a bar where there were some male strippers. I was the gay ambassador to a flock of sorority girls, and they had more fun calling me a go go boy than they did watching the strippers:) With the relaunch and all I've dropped to Boy part and am now just Go Go.

2. What X-Books do you read? You are here cause you read them.
I read X-Statix, but that's getting cancelled. I'm going to give Astonishing X-Men a shot.

3. What is your favorite movie?
Footlose? Kill Bill? Mean Girls? I don't really have one.

4. What music do you listen to?
I listen to all sorts of stuff. Right now I'm listening to Magnetic Fields and their 69 Love Songs.

5. Tell us about you.
I'm Matt, I'm 24, and I live in Iowa City, Iowa. Yes, I did grow up in the country, and at times I was on a farm. I'm currently living in Iowa City where I'm going to be attending the University of Iowa again (first summer classes, and then again in the fall until I finally graduate!) after a hiatus. After undergrad, I want to go to law school.

6. Do you give a "X" about us
I sure do! I like all noobs even;)

Later, ok?

It's the title of a song by the ethereal band Mira (see http://www.projekt.com ) which refers, I believe, to the name of a cat. I liked the song and I was looking for a new less-geeky name after having been Hourman originally. I liked the sound of it.

tangentman
05-16-2004, 11:07 PM
1. My screen name refers to a nickname a good friend gave me back in '96. At the time, I was notorious for jumping tracks in conversation. She often called me "tangent boy"--being an avid Legion fan then, I told her "tangent lad" fit me better. When I registered here the first time, I adopted that nick as my member name, eventually upgrading to "tangent man". :)

2. Right now I read EXILES, NEW X-MEN, and picked up UNCANNY X-MEN for the first time in years for Claremont story and Davis art. Who knows after "Reload" finishes?

3. Jeezus, do we have all day? Let's see...among many, LoTR trilogy, KILL BILL I, 28 DAYS LATER, PULP FICTION, DOOM GENERATION, John Waters films, FASTER, PUSSYCAT! KILL, KILL!, X2 (naturally!), PILLOW BOOK, NATURAL BORN KILLERS, SLEEPY HOLLOW and other Burton films.

4. A variety of music...Radiohead, Jeff Buckley, Catherine Wheel, the Cure, Pixies, Linkin Park, Cocteau Twins, Loretta Lynn, many others.

5. I'm 31, lifelong fan of superheroes and other fantastic things, work in a reputable alcohol & drug treatment center, share my home with a cat named Rogue, and am also one of the many queers who seem to find their way to this particular board

6. So much that I actually give a Triple X ;)

Lee in Limbo
05-16-2004, 11:07 PM
1. What does your screenname mean? Why did you pick it?

My handle was chosen in a fit of desperation when I typed out those famous words 'Help! I'm restarting reading the X-Men after a <insert gawdawful number of years here> absence, and I can't figure out ANY of this stuff!' I chose it for the second generation of this very message board, back around the end of 98. I use it everywhere I go on the internet. And perhaps there really is something to taht bit about the power of a name, because I'm still living in Limbo all these years later. I should really do a rethink, methinks.

2. What X-Books do you read? You are here cause you read them.

At the moment, I'm not reading any. But that's nothing new. I'm broke, and falling quite a ways behind on my collecting. Mind you, I have been weening of X-titles for a while now. I'm a bit of a dinosaur. But I still see stuff worth reading.

3. What is your favorite movie?

Hmmn. These days, I'd say Rear Window. Or maybe The 51st State. But I still love Blade Runner, and my Terry Gilliam films.

4. What music do you listen to?

These days, I've totally retrograded to music by guys from Genesis, mostly. It's weird. But threre really is a lot of the stuff, and it keeps me happy.

5. Tell us about you.

Sometime graphic artist, sometime writer, sometime artist, occasional songwriter, frequent seducer of girls who read comics. I know what I like.

6. Do you give a "X" about us

Of course I do. I just don't get out much. And frankly,if I didn't care, would I be here now? I mean, it's not like I'm reading a lot of comics I have to talk about at the moment.

Like Ruckus (making a noise) and boy/boi put together. I'm a mouthy little gob-sh**e so the name should really reflect that.

2. What X-Books do you read? You are here cause you read them.

I did read GM's New X-men and NYX but since they've either finished or gone AWOL I currently read NO x-books (gasp!). I'll probably be getting the new PAD Madrox series. Looking forward to the Whedon penned "Astonishing..." but I don't think I'll get it monthly.

3. What is your favorite movie?

Sid N Nancy/Lord of the Rings/ The original Star Wars trilogy.

4. What music do you listen to?

All sorts... currently pop/RnB/electro/rock/hiphop etc. Everyone should love the Scissor Sisters, no really!

5. Tell us about you.

I'm a London (UK) based photographer/porn actor who lets his geeky need for comic books get in the way of his normal 9-5 job. I'm opinionated, argumentative and voted the most likely to "disagree with you just for fun". Don't take it personally, I like to be a paradigm for discussion. It's not my fault you all reply with swear words.

6. Do you give a "X" about us

I'm reconsidering my position currently. There are/were some here who I give many an xxx about but I expect some may not bother to return after this horrific forum wide massacre.

1. What does your screenname mean? Why did you pick it?
nooocandy is what I use for everything when online. It's to keep away the men who offer you sweets.

2. What X-Books do you read? You are here cause you read them.
Uncanny, Adjectiveless, Excalibur, Astonishing, Ultimate, Exiles- but I usually just flick thru the issues in shop and buy the trades when available. When I started reading New I found it easier to appreciate stories as a whole and this now applies for all others. Plus its a pain trying to get hold of comics in S. Wales- I've been let down by two internet companies and it's a half hour trip into a busy city to the nearest specialist store. Although I'll be living in said city ( Cardiff ) in a few months but prob still get trades.

3. What is your favorite movie?
The Usual Suspects- fantastic. Also like Empire Strikes Back, X2, Spider-man, Terminator 2, many more.

4. What music do you listen to?
Various stuff- Blink 182, Sum 41, old REM, sixties music, Franz Ferdinand, Keane, Snow Patrol, Pink and lots more.

5. Tell us about you.
I'm 20 at the mo, currently working as a lab tech for the next few months then off to Uni to pursue a career in Media. Was born in Birmingham, England, moved to South Wales about 7 years ago. I like having fun in any way possible. I'm always up for a laugh and friendly and open-minded.

Well Since we lost the old one I figure I should start a new one.

1. What does your screenname mean? Why did you pick it?
Well my old user name Asian Persuasion was from my old ICQ user name that I never use anymore, so I decided to go with my first name Sheldon....I don't really know my my folks chose the name.....apparently it means a gray hill or something.

2. What X-Books do you read? You are here cause you read them.
I currently pick up X-statix. My other X-related reading is done by reading copies one of my "completist" friends gets..

3. What is your favorite movie?
Hard question.....Dr. Strangelove always brings a smile to my face....so does When Harry Met Sally.....the best movie I've seen lately is Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind.

4. What music do you listen to?
An odd variety....Beth Orton, Dashboard Confessional, Madonna, Ryan Adams, Depeche Mode, U2, Coldplay...

5. Tell us about you.
I tend to be fairly private but here goes...
I'm 26 and I work doing research at a psychiatric hospital, but this fall will be returning to school to do graduate work.....Hopefully it will be med school, if I don't get in (I should hear back soon) I'm going to do a joint Law/Master of Health Administration degree.

Beyond that I'm preparing for to get married in September..did I mention that before?..I got engaged 2 weeks ago, and we thought about waiting longer, but it seemed right to do it this year.....planning a wedding can be pretty tough though.....wish me luck!

6. Do you give a "X" about us

2. What X-Books do you read? You are here cause you read them.

3. What is your favorite movie?

Brazil, the real version.

4. What music do you listen to?

Most anything.

5. Tell us about you.

I'm trying to "break in." Not the kind you get arrested for, though that would probably be more profitable at this point.

I could have sworn I answered this, long, long ago.

1. What does your screenname mean? Why did you pick it?
I think that's pretty obvious. I picked it because it is me.
2. What X-Books do you read? You are here cause you read them.
I don't read Emma Frost. Nope.
3. What is your favorite movie?
Ooh, there's... and there's also... and what about... let's say, lots!
4. What music do you listen to?
Rock and roll baby!

6. Do you give a "X" about us

Vegetarian Goat
05-17-2004, 10:10 AM
1. What does your screenname mean? Why did you pick it?
I did this comic once for my college paper called "Vegetarian Goat & Mr. Can", which had a goat eating grass in a field. Soon enough, a can comes up to the goat and tries to persuade the goat to eat him. The goat declines, saying he's a VEGETARIAN goat... and then there's a truck, and a squish, and things happen... i didn't think it was one of my best... but people seemed to like it. And it's fairly unique to me, so.. there it is.

2. What X-Books do you read? You are here cause you read them.
I read almost every X-Title under the sun. And if i don't get it monthly, I pick it up at cons.

3. What is your favorite movie?
X2, Return to Oz, The Muppet Movie, Blues Brothers, and of course, the first TMNT movie (which i have memorized...)

4. What music do you listen to?
Favorite Bands include: Yes, The Cardigans, The Pixies, Led Zeppelin, Boston, The Beatles, anything that comes on my iPod, really...

5. Tell us about you.
My name is Dan, i live in RI, and i got into comics in 5th grade because of the art, and i've been obsessed ever since. I'm an art student, concentrating in graphic design, and once i have a website worth it's salt, i'll post it up! :D
Oh yeah- i'm also the biggest Dazzler fan on the face of the planet. (I challenge anyone to contest me about it!)

2. What X-Books do you read? You are here cause you read them.
I loved Morrison's stint on the book. I'm currently enjoying X-statix.

3. What is your favorite movie?
The most ambitious I've watched (and the most well-handled in recent memory) would be Troy. Other favorites include LOTR, Kill Bill, latter Star Wars installments, The Godfather, and Big Fish.

4. What music do you listen to?
I've a very screwy musical palate. I can switch from Johnny Mathis to Evanescence on a whim.

My most recent purchase: Maroon 5

The Dosadi Experiment
05-17-2004, 11:51 AM
1. What does your screenname mean? Why did you pick it?

My previous screen name was Miles Teg, but I got bored with that name, so now it's "The Dosadi Experiment". Where Miles Teg was a character from Dune series, written by Frank Herbert, The Dosadi Experiment is the actual title of one of Frank Herbert's books, it's a pretty snappy book, and Frank Herbert has a nice little scene in it where he makes fun of his masterpiece Dune.

2. What X-Books do you read? You are here cause you read them.

I'm here because all the cool kids hang out here, and you serve excellent coffee... of course I'm here because I read X-books. Not nearly enough, since my list has been cut to less than a handful. Uncanny X-men and Excalibur are currently on my reading list, together with Astonishing X-men.

3. What is your favorite movie?

It changes every now and again, I can't really say that I have a favorite.

4. What music do you listen to?

Industrial, and I prefer the stuff that comes from Germany, but still sung in Englisch. Like Funker Vogt and Kein Mitleid Fur Die Mehrheid. But I also like J-pop, it makes me all giddy and happy on the inside. And then I've always had a fondness of soundtracks, the real soundtracks that is, not those sappy song-infested soundtracks, no, I really like the music from a movie, the stuff they play in the background to create a mood.

5. Tell us about you.

I'm Dutch, I used to have a promising career as a male model, but lightning struck, together with apathy and puberty and then I just saw it all go to hell, but hey, I'm not bitter or anything, I was the purdiest 8-year-old you've ever seen damnit. I wish I would be able to say that I chilled with all the other celebrity kids, that I was living a life of drugs and sex, but hey, it was more of a hobby than a job, most of the pictures I'm found on were taken for free.
So a long story short, I never was a real model, just had an aunt with good connections and a job in the dazzling world of photography.

But I sound so much more interesting when I claim to have been a model. Which isn't a lie.... just stretching reality like a rubber band...

1) My screenname was my callsign in the Air Force, those who have been around the board for a while (and I'm talking years) will probably remember me.

2)Anything with Deadpool in it, Weapon X, eXiles, looking forward to Astonishing, will give everything else at least 3 or 4 issues to try it

3)The Godfather or Die Hard

4) Anything except twangy country. Right now I'm on a big "surf-pop" kick: Jack Johnson, Ben Harper, Toots & The Maytals... I'll take any suggestions to stuff I "should" be listening to as well.

5) It's more fun to let you guess

1. What does your screenname mean? Why did you pick it?

Mr. Jip is an obscure Doctor Strange villain who suckered the Outbacck X-Men once into doing his bidding. He's kooky & my initials are J and P.

2. What X-Books do you read? You are here cause you read them.

i started with the issue where Storm became leader of the X-Men by Kicking Scott's scrawny BEHIND. Quit during the whorrific 90s, got into it again, on & off. LOVED New X-Men. LOATHE Austen's Uncanny & early issues of X-Treme but i grew to enjoy the series immensely after the Schism arc. Getting Uncanny now that Claremont & Davis are on it.
i also read X-Statix, Mystique... & will probably give Whedon's ASTONISHING a try.

3. What is your favorite movie?
Too many to list. Almodovar's move me.

4. What music do you listen to?
Where do i start? Mostly nu-jazz & chill-out lounge & downtempo stuff. Soul, dub, funk, triphop, 60s, 70s, classic jazz, broken beats, drum n bass. Really into Brazilian right now, from your classic bossa nova & traditional sambas to tropicalia, afoxé, choro, etc.
i like my occasional guilty J-pop pleasure as well.

5. Tell us about you.

i'm restarting yoga & swimming this week coz i've just been way too decadent for the past year,

JIP, as in gyp ( JIP being the phonetically written version according to my memory ).

It's used informally in Britain as in to cause pain or discomfort and also as to take the mick out of someone or cause someone aggrovation

e.g. ( a made up example, don't look thru any comics for this ).

Magneto: You are a pathetic weakling, a poor excuse of a mutant and you are poorly endowed in the trouser department.

Capt Britain: Stop giving me gyp and let's fight.

Cyclops
05-17-2004, 03:47 PM
1. What does your screenname mean? Why did you pick it?

Junior year of college I lived on a floor that had an unusually high percentage of comic book geeks. One of the things that we did early on was pair everyone on the floor (personality-wise) with their analogue in the X-universe. Since I was a little older and tend to have a big-brother streak, I was said to fill the Cyclops role. It made me think that Scott probably is the comic book character that I'm most like, and I wanted a cool code name when I registered so....

2. What X-Books do you read? You are here cause you read them.

I read comics almost exclusively in TPB now. I really liked Morrison on New X-Men, and I also read the two Marvel Masterworks series. I'm greatly anticipating both Whedon and Singer on their respective books too.

3. What is your favorite movie?

Superman: The Movie. Quintessential.

4. What music do you listen to?

All kinds. Playing right now is Jamie Cullum's "twentysomething," some interesting jazz arrangements from the young British artist. Very fun and highly recommended.

5. Tell us about you.

1. What does your screenname mean? Why did you pick it?
My screenname, chosen specifically when I joined CBR in November of 03, represents my attitude toward the X-books. I just want them to be good, readable, intelligent and fun for everyone who enjoys reading them. I make no secret that I'm 30 and read comics. I try to be an embassador for them.

2. What X-Books do you read? You are here cause you read them.
Anything by Claremont or Morrison. I loved New X-Men and enjoyed Claremont/Davis' first issue of Uncanny. I've also enjoyed X-Statix and will buy the PAD Madrox series. New X-Men Mutant Academy looks promising as well.

3. What are your favorite movies?
The Breakfast Club. Billy Elliot. Truth or Dare. Out of Sight. All About My Mother. Clueless. Purple Rain. The Terminator.

4. What music do you listen to?
Madonna, Bjork, Prince, U2, jazz, big band, Ella Fitzgerald, Louis Armstrong, Duke Ellington, Diana Krall, funk, some hip hop like Outkast and Jay-Z, lots of other stuff. No country or hardcore metal or rap.

5. Tell us about you.

Do you give a "X" about us?

Cactusakic
05-17-2004, 05:23 PM
1: What Does Your Screen Name Mean? Why Did You Pick It?

It's a cross between Cactus and Sakic. Cactus is my nickname because I look (so I'm told) and act like Cactus Jack aka Mick Foley/Mankind/Dude Love from WWE/ECW etc. Sakic is from Joe Sakic of the Colorado Avalanche who I have supported for as long as I care to remember.

2: What X-Books Do You Read? You Are Here Cause You Read Them.

I stopped reading comics sometime around the mid 90's. I have only got back into them (with a vengance, my current monthly standing order is over 40 titles) in the last year or so and I have been intentionally avoiding the x-books as I am a bit of a completist and if I buy one, I'll have to buy them all. I was buying Weapon X, Wolverine, Ultimate X-Men and NYX, but as none of these are core x-titles I thought I was doing o.k. But then along comes the Reload and makes it too damn tempting and too damn easy to get back into all things X. So I now read the above plus X-Men, New X-Men, Uncanny X-Men, Excalibur, District X and Astonishing X-Men. I'm standing firm on not buying Mystique though, lol.

3: What Is Your Favorite Movie?

Godfather Part II. Closely followed by Godfather Part I, Goodfellas, Blade Runner and Chinatown.

4: What Music Do You Listen To?

Pretty much anything and everything, but some of my favorites are:
The Doors, New Order, Joy Division, The Who, Nirvana, Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers, Bruce Springsteen, The Pixies, Ash, Prodigy, Evanescence, The White Stripes, The Clash, Green Day, The Happy Mondays, 2 Many DJ's, Chemical Brothers, Aerosmith, Guns N Roses, The Streets.

5: Tell Us About You.

I'm 23 and I think my life peaked around 5 years ago, but I carry on in the hopes of being proved wrong. I work outdoors which is great at this time of year, but it blows in the winter. My main interests are Film, Comics, Porn and Pro Wrestling in that order. My girlfriend understands and accepts the first three. The highlight of my year for the past 5 or 6 years running has been attending the Glastonbury and Reading music festivals here in the U.K during the summers. Over the last few years I have seen some of the greatest bands on the planet and this year is setting up to be one of the best yet. Fingers crossed.

6: Do You Give An "X" About Us?

Not Yet, but I hope to soon.

4. What music do you listen to?

Almost all of them.

What music do you listen to?

A little of everything but I'm a huge Metallica fan, always have been.

No rap, hip hop, or R & B, thanks...

Tell us about you.

Nearly 27 years old.

Been reading comics for about 18 straight years.

Got a BBA in Business Management and I work for my Dad in our family owned small business in Tennessee.

Bodybuilding is my other passion besides comics -- been at it for years now.

Likes: basketball, parties, girls, beer (Heineken preferably), high grade Marvel back issues, thought stimulating reading and conversation

Dislikes: people who don't think for themselves

Oh yeah, I also have excellent teeth. Thank you, Rembrandt. ;)

Yeah, but you guys need to lighten up sometimes.

Why do I feel like a fish out of water around here sometimes? And don't tell me it's just the Austen arguments either. ;)

1. What does your screenname mean? Why did you pick it?
"Bakla" means "Faggot" in the Philippines, where I'm from. It's a name that was a hated taunt I had to endure when I was younger. I decided to repurpose it, own it and make it a positive thing. Which it's become, actually.

2. What X-Books do you read? You are here cause you read them.
I enjoyed Morrison's New a lot, and I follow Claremont no matter what - I may not like what he does sometimes and I'll be vocal about it, but I'm a fan. I read Uncanny for 17 years before he left, and after that long, it's a comfort thing to hear that 'voice' and read those characters' exploits. And it's hard to give up.

3. What is your favorite movie?
The only movie I've seen more than X-men was Firestarter. I think I wanted to be a pyrokinetic little girl with a telepathic David Keith as my...er,...daddy. That, and when you recall her final triumphant razing of the institute that tried to control her, it was a very righteous moment in the vein of vintage Storm...!

4. What music do you listen to?
Mostly House, a lot of Downtempo/Lounge, some pop, but ecelectic: the Hotel Costes series, Scissor Sisters, Annie Lennox, Jamiroquai, vintage Swing Out Sister, Strawberry Switchblade & Blowmonkeys, Bebel Gilberto, Royksopp, Prefab Sprout...lots.

5. Tell us about you.
Do you have a year?

1. What does your screenname mean? Why did you pick it?
Fairly obvious in my case, I love me them 80's Transformers. I posted as Soundwave on the old thread for about 100 posts before the whipe. So yeah, I'm a rookie.

2. What X-Books do you read? You are here cause you read them.
Ultimate is pretty much it for now, though I'll give Amazing a try. I dropped New after Morrison left. I still like the characters if not the current status.

3. What is your favorite movie?
Uh, how bout Braveheart?

4. What music do you listen to?
Beatles, Sinatra, Springsteen and newer stuff. Don't look at me like that, I'm 26!

5. Tell us about you.
Um, did I mention I'm 26? I work at Best Buy fixing computers but am going to take my LSats soon so I can truly be the next Lionel Hutz!

6. Do you give a "X" about us
Not yet, but give me time ;)
So start answering again.

Kirayoshi
05-19-2004, 12:10 AM
1. What does your screenname mean? Why did you pick it?

Kirayoshi is a subtle Star Trek: Deep Space Nine reference. Yoshi is the son of Miles and Keiko O'Brien, but due to injuries Keiko sustained in a shuttlecraft accident when she was pregnant, Kira Nerys ended up becoming a surrogate mother for the unborn Yoshi. In her honor, Miles and Keiko chose to change the child's name to Kirayoshi.

2. What X-Books do you read? You are here cause you read them.

I started with the Claremont/Paul Smith period. I'm looking forward to Claremont/Davis, and Whedon's run on Astondishing. And praying fervently that Chuck Austin will never get his grimy mitts on Kitty Pryde.

3. What is your favorite movie?

Of all time? It's a Wonderful Life. Recently, the Lord of the Rings movies.

4. What music do you listen to?

Evanescence, Dave Matthews, REM, B52s, Talking Heads, Nickleback, Ramones, Brian Setzer Orchestra, The Chieftains, Civilized Animal(a Spokane-based ska/hiphop/raggae combo) and the soundtrack to 'O Brother Where Art Thou'

5. Tell us about you.

I'm an old-school comics fan and a voracious reader. I'm finally getting around to reading Michael Chabon's "The Amazing Adventures of Kavilier and Clay" and enjoying it immensely. I also enjoy biking.

And I've written quite a bit of Buffy the Vampire Slayer fanfiction. Favorite pairing, Buffy/Willow(Hey, she's done far worse!).

6. Do you give a "X" about us

Aw, what the 'X'!

Roquefort Raider

1. What does your screenname mean? Why did you pick it?

I wanted something that tried to sound impressive but was obviously ridiculous, with a hint of my French-Canadian origins. The alliteration was also reminiscent of old Marvel comics names, like Doctor Doom or Black Bolt.

2. What X-Books do you read? You are here cause you read them.

I'm actually here because of the posters! I dropped all the X-titles back around uncanny X-Men #300. I did come back for the trades of the Morrison run (great, great stuff, apart maybe from the uninspired Planet X) and I probably will not be interested in the Return of the Spandex storyline. That was good in the 70s and 80s, but personally I've had my fill. And Logan looks ridiculous in his canary-yellow costume.

3. What is your favorite movie?

Currently it's Asterix et Obelix: mission Cleopatre, a hilarious adaptation of the famous French comic. But I usually have a new favorite movie every few months.

4. What music do you listen to?

I like a lot of things... Opera, baroque, classical, rock, movie soundtracks...

5. Tell us about you.

Father of two, happily married for close to 20 years, professor of biology, amateur cartoonist (http://www.biolinks.com/humor) , amateur writer, I practice karate and ride a bike to work (when my arm isn't in a cast as it is right now). I've accumulated way too many comics in the past 30 years, and most of them not very good at that.

Though I might not talk much on these boards, and it took my 3 years to get my former 120 posts, I certainly do. It's the reason I stick around. Everyone here, though I've disagreed with some, is a good person and certainly willing to help.

1. What does your screenname mean? Why did you pick it?
I got this name from one of my teachers. He was giving me this long talk about how I got all this talent and whatever and said that my "devil may care attitude" was pissing him off. I like the "devil may care" part. It sounds cool.

2. What X-Books do you read? You are here cause you read them.
I buy the New Mutants series that just became Academy X. I buy Wolverine if that counts. I'm gonna buy Astonishing. I read everything else but that doesn't mean I buy em. Mostly thanks to my non support of chuck Austen.

3. What is your favorite movie? Good Will Hunting

4. What music do you listen to? My favorite band right now is HIM. I listen to them all the time. there isn't a song they've made that I don't like. Other than that I enjoy some oldschool Jazz. Alien Ant Farm is another good one band.

5. Tell us about you.
I'm an aspiring actor/writer. I'd love to write comic books, but don't know if I really have the drive. I think I could make some kickass stories. If I could write any current characters they'd be Daredevil, Wolverine, or Spider-Man. I also have my own original character that I'm tweaking. You know, I wouldn't mind writing the Hulk. That'd be fun.

6. Do you give a "X" about us

Gonzogoose
05-23-2004, 11:31 AM
1. What does your screenname mean? Why did you pick it?

Okay, Gonzo is a nickname my cousin gave me because I was a weirdo-I was kinda goofy, like the muppet (and no I don't have a huge hooked nose). The goose part comes from two places-1. one of the meanings of my first name is "baby goose", and 2. ya know when you laugh soooo hard you don't make a sound? Well, when that happens I try to take in air and I make a sort of...honking sound I guess, so my Mom always said I sound like a goose. Okay, that was probably waaay too much info. :o

2. What X-Books do you read? You are here cause you read them.

X-Men, Uncanny X-Men, Exiles, Excalibur, New X-Men, the upcoming Astonishing X-Men, District X Emma Frost, and occasionally Cable/Deadpool, Wolverine, and other X titles.

3. What is your favorite movie?

My favorite movie of all time is "It's A Wonderful Life", but I also love Spider-Man, LOTR, Mission Impossible, Jerry Mcguire, and a whole bunch of others too numerous to list-I video tape EVERYTHING I watch as far as movies or wrestling goes and some season finales (not to mention the whole season of the past two American Idols).

4. What music do you listen to?

I'm pretty eclectic. I don't care for country, but someon like Leann Rimes I can listen to, and I HATE heavy metal, which I just classify as noise. I mainly listen to R&B and Contemporary Christian.

5. Tell us about you.

I'm 27, in Ky, have lived here since I was 5. I've been reading comics consistentlly since I was 13, though I didn't by any for five years, between ages 19 and 23 for a lot of reasons I won't go into. I don't have much time for anything else. I love singing, writing and drawing in that order. As for what I do, I work in a Business Office, but I want to write-just have to find the time for it. I'm on the search for something I can do from home that won't require a huge investment or more school (I have a BA in Bus. Admin., an, minor Comp. Sci. Assoc. in Computer Science, and an Assoc. in Bus. Mgmt.) so I'll have more time to pursue my dreams and spend w/ mi familia, but haven't had much luck yet. Feel free to pm or e-mail me if you know something.

6. Do you give a "X" about us

If I didn't I wouldn't even be here. I post on CBR because it's the best place to find like-minded people with big dreams and aspirations. I'm not surrounded by the most creative or adventurous people in my life. So in short, I love you guys and gals.

Well Since we lost the old one I figure I should start a new one.
That's why they pay you the big bills, Q.
1. What does your screenname mean? Why did you pick it?
You all may have known me as The Minuteman Refugee. I am now Tre Styles. It means what it says in my tag. I've got many styles, although tre stands for the Third. Which I am. (I'm the third Sam in my family line)I changed my screename as a result of this metamorph that CBR went through. I was Minuteman for yearssssss.....change is good. Yes? Edit: I just realized that Tre Styles was the name of Cuba Gooding's character in Boyz in The Hood...which is cool with me too.
2. What X-Books do you read? You are here cause you read them.
I try to read all of them. There are a lot now. Although Austen makes me cringe. I enjoy mostly all X-Books. I've slowed up on Exiles, X-Statix,and X-Men though..
3. What is your favorite movie?
It changes periodically...but The Last Samurai was awesome.
4. What music do you listen to?
I listen mostly to contemporary Gospel, some R&B, and Hip-Hop too.
5. Tell us about you.
Well, I'm 29 as I type this. Born in March, and raised in Maryland. I still live there. I've been married to a wonderful woman for four years going strong.I just had a son in April of 2004. I teach at inner-city elementary school. I am an easy going kind of guy.. I love to draw and hope to get a scanner soon. There are some online comic things I like to do.(Oh, and post my stuff in "Draw Me an X".... ;) ) Of course, I love comic books, or I wouldn't be here. I also have a deep spiritual side to me. I'm a lover, not a fighter.

What a wonderful thread. Allow me to introduce myself.

1. What does your screenname mean? Why did you pick it?
It's my name and last initial. When I become famous I want my legions of fans to be able to trace my message board tracks to an extent.

2. What X-Books do you read? You are here cause you read them.
I was a huge fan of New X-Men and X-Statix. They are both ending, but I'm sticking around to discuss the first wave of X-Men ReLoad, because it's an interesting anomaly of freewill that I could read a comic and get a COMPLETELY opposite reaction in relation to someone who read the exact same comic. When this ends, I'll be back to discuss Millar's Wolverine.

3. What is your favorite movie?
I won't be able to name one, so I won't try: Dawn of the Dead, One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest, Kill Bill Vol. 1, Amadeus, Good Will Hunting, Breathless, Suicide Club. New and old, domestic and foreign.

4. What music do you listen to?
I don't listen to radio or hunt the latest obscure independent band, so I depend on random encounters with music to fuel my tastes. That said, I'm currently enjoying the Cranberries, Rilo Kiley, Bright Eyes, D12, Cursive, Death By Chocolate, and Aqua. My faves are Bright Eyes and Huntingtons off the top of my head.

5. Tell us about you.
I have a great interest in pop culture and preference in groups of large people, hive mentality. Message boards, E! channel, MTV are all great big bizzarre science experiments in a way. It's all fuel for ideas and writing and the big picture. Keep your eyes and mind open I say. I never seem to agree with anyone, but find it interesting that I disagree. Speaking "X" related, let it be said that I think Peter David did some great stuff and that Claremont is a dolt. I adore Morrison's run, and all these ReLoad books are pissing on it. If not in contiuity, then certainly in spirit, which saddens me, but not enough for me to start a thread about it.

6. Do you give a "X" about us
Some more than others. As a whole, of course yes, why else would I be here?

-Sean

Christopher O

1. What does your screenname mean? Why did you pick it?
Well, I'm an English and History major with a minor in theatre, and I love comics, so the idea of "deus ex machina" is one I'm pretty familiar with. Besides, I just love saying it. Oh, and I thought "Chris Cool" was just getting old, anyway.

2. What X-Books do you read? You are here cause you read them.
I haven't decide for sure which books I'll be picking up regularly. I loved Astonishing this week, so that's a definite. Uncanny was okay, and it's future looks promising with the Fury and Olivier Coipel, so I'll be getting that. New X-Men was pretty good but a little boring, and X-Men #157 was okay, but it is Austen, so...who knows. I currently pick Ultimate up regularly, but I'm rapidly loosing interest. Other than that, I only pick the others up pretty irregularly, depending on the storyline.

3. What is your favorite movie?
One? I can't pick just one, so here goes: the LotR trilogy, X2, 28 Days Later, Trainspotting, Bridget Jones's Diary, Moulin Rouge, The Exorcist, Kill Bill Vol. 1, Kill Bill Vol. 2, The Gift, Bandits, Veronica Guerin, American History X, The Talented Mr. Ripley, Gladiator, and Life as a House--just to name a few.

4. What music do you listen to?
Well, I enjoy classical, hip hop, and pop. At the moment, I'm really digging "This Love" by Maroon 5. It's fun, and it reminds me of music from the 50's for some reason.

5. Tell us about you.
I'm a senior in college. I'm gay and single. ;) I'm very liberal. Agnostic is the most accurate label for my religious beliefs, because I just don't give a damn about any higher power or any thing like that. Anyway, I love to read. Robert Jordan and George R. R. Martin are my favorite authors.

6. Do you give a "X" about us
Of course! Why would I be here, otherwise? To antagonize you guys? ;)

I'm a big ol' Alpha Flight fan, and always thought Puck was cool. Therefore, I decided to try for his name as my screenname and it was available!

2. What X-Books do you read? You are here cause you read them.

Most of 'em. Uncanny, Astonishing, New, X-Men, Excalibur, C&D, Mystique, Exiles, Wolvie. Did I leave any out?

3. What is your favorite movie?

All time fav is Stand By Me, but anything with River Phoenix will do just fine. Other mentionables are: LotR, first Star Wars Trilogy, Indiana Jones.

4. What music do you listen to?

Mostly Top 40/Pop, but I'm into classical, showtunes and I'm exploring Opera right now.

5. Tell us about you.

I live in Los Angeles and work in the entertainment industry. I've been reading comics for a good long time (have the entire original New Mutants series and picked them up when they came out). I also swim/dive regularly, I'm into rock climbing, camping, movies.

6. Do you give a "X" about us

I've been lurking around here for awhile, but have decided to try and break into the community as it is one of the cooler (and more positive) boards around. So ... yes.

1. What does your screenname mean? Why did you pick it?

My screenname is in fact my real name. Evan Grubbs. I think it's pointless to hide behind monikers when I'm not really all that important and have no need for privacy.

2. What X-Books do you read? You are here cause you read them.

Uncanny X-Men, X-Factor, X-Force, X-Men, New X-Men: Mutant Academy, New Mutants, Excalibur (both), Weapon X, Wolverine, District X, Astonishing X-Men, Alpha Flight, and most of the odds and ends besides.

3. What is your favorite movie?

Jesus Christ Superstar and Kung Pow: Enter the Fist.

4. What music do you listen to?

Mostly melodic Black Metal (Opeth, Borknagar) with some Death Metal thrown in (Death, Bloodbath), and practically everything else in the world that you don't hear on the radio. Big fan of Swedish and Norweigan music. And as my favorite movie suggests, I do love a good Rock Opera.

5. Tell us about you.

The name is Evan Grubbs. First and foremost, I am a web master. I host, design, and maintain a good number of sites: www.evangrubbs.com - www.jesuschristsuperstar.net - www.thedrown.com - www.thehouserabbit.com - www.jesucristometalstar.tk - and there are soon to be more. Evangrubbs.com is a good site to visit -- do so.

6. Do you give a "X" about us

I've found CBR to be essential in making my comic buying decisions. There are some people on this forum who think almost exactly like I do when it comes to comics. It's gotten to the point where if they dislike a book, I usually won't even touch it, because their opinions are practically parallel to mine (atoningunifex - nooocandy). There are some people whose posts I always look forward to, because they're always perfectly dead on and/or extremely entertaining to read (Mr. Jip - Charagon). And there are just some people who inspire the hell out of me (DDM - Tuan).

I really enjoy these forums, even if I don't post here a lot. It's like a comic book all of its own.

Just to be upfront, my former screenname was whitmore_sean. I had to change it to protect my identity from foreign powers. Damn Transylvanians.

1. What does your screenname mean? Why did you pick it?

It's my actual name. Just easier that way. And since CBR gives you one screenname for life, I'd never be able to choose one moniker. One week I'm on a Transformers kick, next week I'm on a Dance of the Vampires kick, I'd never be satisifed with just one.

2. What X-Books do you read? You are here cause you read them.

I'm extremely lucky to work in a comic shop, so I get to read 'em all. As for which ones I actually collect, just the core books at the moment. X-Men, UXM, and now Astonishing.

3. What is your favorite movie?

Geez, my answer would change from week to week. Michael with John Travolta is a favorite. I can watch Ghostbusters and The Matrix all day long (only the first ones).

4. What music do you listen to?

The oldies stations, exclusively. Pretty much the only artists who's albums I still buy are Meat Loaf and Ray Stevens.

5. Tell us about you.

I'm a living cliche. I live in L.A. and am trying to break into writing. Movies, television, novels, comics, I don't care, gimme an alarm clock and I'll write the instruction manual.

6. Do you give a "X" about us

Conversing with the CBR community makes good comics more enjoyable and lets me blow off steam after reading bad comics. God bless people with nothing better to do than bitch about mistakes! :)

1. What does your screenname mean? Why did you pick it?

Well...once upon a time my screen name was spike. Upon the recreation of this board I decided to pick something that sounded more fun...but that kept the cowboy bebop theme. "Cowboy Funk" was an especially humorous episode of the series...I'd recommend it...but then I'd recommend every episode.

2. What X-Books do you read? You are here cause you read them.

I read New. Now I'm following Astonishing...though Nightcrawler is my favorite character...

3. What is your favorite movie?

Wow...umm...It's a Wonderful Life, The Matrix, Braveheart, Donnie Darko, Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon, the list could go on for awhile...

4. What music do you listen to?

Well...the Pixies, the Beta Band, Pavement, Franz Ferdinand, Radiohead, The Decemberists, the Flaming Lips, etc...

5. Tell us about you.

I go to college in Michigan. I'm majoring in English. Someday I'd like to go to art school and work in illustration or film.

Ok, here goes:

1. What does your screenname mean? Why did you pick it?

I love the character Artemis from the Wonder Woman comics, as well as the mythological Greek goddess, and since I'm a boy...

2. What X-Books do you read? You are here cause you read them.

Honestly, I don't anymore. Ever since the over saturation of X-Books of the mid-90s. I do get the odd issue though of whatever X-Book is spotlighting my favorite characters. ie. Northstar, Wolvsbane, Magik, ect.

3. What is your favorite movie?

Don't know I have a favorite. Some of my faves are: Underworld, X-Men, Muriel's Wedding, My Big Fat Greek Wedding, Female Trouble, Goonies and too many others to mention.

4. What music do you listen to?

I pretty much like any type of music other than metal or rap. Typically I'll put on alternative, 80s or older country.

5. Tell us about you.

Um, 5'10", dark hair and eyes, Hispanic though I always get "I never really knew WHAT nationality you were. Jewish? Italian? Greek?", gay, have a live-in boyfriend of 4 years, live in Los Angeles, was raised in Texas. That it?

I've been reading Uncanny X-Men since their Austrailian days, and I've bought most of the back issues almost to Dark Pheonix Saga. A long time and a ton of X-Men comics. I've also been collecting (New) X-Men since the begining. I collect Wolverine as well since the begining of his first regular series, (I'm only missing issue 10). I refuse to buy every single X book that comes along so I'm sticking with those 3. I hope that I'll be able to enjoy these three without haveing to keep current with all the rest. I've been around CBR for awhile, but mostly on the DC boards. I've just recently started posting on these boards.

1. What does your screenname mean? Why did you pick it?

I'm a big fan of the Cowboy Bebop anime, and one of the characters was this cop-turned-bounty hunter named Jet Black. I liked the character, and liked the name even more. Well I think it sounds cool... :p

2. What X-Books do you read? You are here cause you read them.

Right now I'm only picking up Astonishing X-Men... I might try out New X-Men though, and maybe Ultimate X-Men. I'll definitely be picking up Gambit when it comes out in September.

3. What is your favorite movie?

There's a lot... Kill Bill, Punch Drunk Love, Lord of the Rings, Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, Shawshank Redemption, and too many more to name.

4. What music do you listen to?

I like a lot, but usually hip hop, r&b, pop punk and emo.... Right now my favourites are Dashboard Confessional, Something Corporate, Jimmy Eat World, Usher, Outkast, and Black Eyed Peas.

5. Tell us about you.

I'm a 22 year old university student in Vancouver studying interactive arts, and I work part-time with a couple kids with autism. What I'm studying and my job are not at all related but I like doing both. Been reading X-Men since "adjectiveless" X-Men first came out, but I've been reading on and off since then. I've only just gotten back into the swing of things and I've obviously missed out on a lot.

1. What does your screenname mean? Why did you pick it?

Bagheera is the black panther in Jungle Book. He is the serious, responsibility-driven character. I've always liked black panthers as animals and identified with this character as a child. Years later, I met and married Hubby, who got and deserves more the nickname Baloo, the carefree bear of the same work.

2. What X-Books do you read? You are here cause you read them.

Wolverine
Wolverine: The End
X-men
Astonishing X-men
Uncanny X-men
Extreme X-men
Exiles
New X-men
Excaliber
Anything with Wolverine in it

3. What is your favorite movie?

Sci fi, horror, action, comedy, an occasional chick flick

4. What music do you listen to?
The kids make me listen to Radio Disney! If I hear Hilary Duff or Raven one more time, I think I'll scream!
Me? I like old Motown and easy listening stuff---Carly Simon, Joan Baez, Marvin Gaye, Aretha Franklin................and dare I say it..................yes, I like some disco.

I am astonished and thrilled that someone here knows who Ray Stevens is!!!

5. Tell us about you.
Hmmm............I'm guessing I'm the oldest one here. I'm a mid-40s female physician, married, two kids, one dog, three cats, 2 guinea pigs, three quails and an ever-changing number of fish. Hubby is a computer consultant. I read X-men in college and med school and then got too busy with residency, starting a practice, getting married, having kids, etc. When X-men The Movie came out, I restarted reading the X comics and it's now a nightly ritual for me to read comics to my little ones. They are well-versed in the X-Universe. I even went so far as to purchase the entire Wolverine series on ebay.

That's so cool! So, do you make sure that the comics you read are 'all-ages' appropros? I would imagine some of the content might not be good for reading to little kids, but since Americans tend to be more tolerant of violent themes nowadays, I'm not sure what is or isn't acceptable. How do you decide what to read to them?

For the most part, the X-series aren't too bad. My girls are 7 and 10. Violence in entertainment serves a purpose and comic book violence is acceptable since it's so "cartoonish". It also usually occurs in the context of Good overcoming Evil in order to protect innocents rather than let's-see-how-many-brains-we-can-splatter-on-a-wall. It generally isn't very graphic (although Logan lopping off Magneto's head was a bit much, even if in silhouette). There is rare cursing and when I do run across it, "damn" becomes "dang" and "hell" becomes "heck". I have more trouble with the sexual references, innuendo, etc. There was an issue of the Exiles we skipped because I didn't think it was necessary for my elementary school-age girls to go through Sunfire coming out of the closet to Morph. One must be a little selective, but generally 95% of the subject matter is fine.

My girls already know much of the X-men history and it's fascinating to watch as they pick their favorites or which superpowers they themselves would want. One wants to marry Quicksilver when she grows up and the other one is currently interested in both Cyclops and Wolverine. (My husband thinks Emma Frost is a hottie. :p ) Fantasy is a great mental exercise and sublimation for all kinds of feelings, conflicts and desires. Plus, I'm soooo glad we're past the Barney stage of life.

1. What does your screenname mean? Why did you pick it?
My screenname is the title of a Danzig song, and my shortlived band inspired by said musician.

2. What X-Books do you read? You are here cause you read them.
Picked up Astonishing #1 last week, my first X-title in about 5-8 years.

3. What is your favorite movie?
That's a hard one. So I'll list my top favs: The Big Lebowski, Akira, 12 Monkeys, Pulp Fiction, and Batman.

4. What music do you listen to?
Rock, baby. Danzig, Nine Inch Nails, Black Flag to name a few.

5. Tell us about you.
I'm 22, following comics for a long time, but just recently getting back into them. Favs include Savage Dragon, The Maxx and various Batman trades. I write in my spare time, both stories and music. I draw when I feel motivated but once I see the drawing on the paper which looks nothing at all like I had envisioned, I get easily unmotivated. Music, writing, and comics really take up most of my time when I'm not working or going to school.

2. What X-Books do you read? You are here cause you read them.
I liked Astonishing, leery but giving a chance to Uncanny with Claremont, Exiles post Winnick, and X-Academy, really enjoying District X! and will read X-statix until it finishes out.

3. What is your favorite movie?
I like Harold & Maude, Amelie, Run Lola Run, and the Royal Tennenbaums to name a few.

4. What music do you listen to?
DMB, Jack Johnson, Bob Schnieder, , Annie Lennox, and Erasure are some current and all time favorites mixed together.

5. Tell us about you.
I'm 29, live in Austin Tejas, with my 3 dogs (a Basset Hound, a Dalmation mix, and a Great Dane), and my boyfriend (human). It's a very rarely used nickname. I use it because it's easy to remember and the odds of it being taken were low.

2. What X-Books do you read? You are here cause you read them.
I'm trying Uncanny and Astonishing out and putting together a full run of X-Treme on the cheap. Mostly though, I re-read back issues of Uncanny, New Mutants, and X-Factor.

3. What is your favorite movie?
I couldn't pick one. Movies that I like include A Few Good Men, Star Trek II, Stir of Echoes, The Fugitive, Spider-Man, and Gremlins.

4. What music do you listen to?
Some CDs that I've listened to recently include the Corrs, the Pretenders, Fatboy Slim, the Cardigans,Tommy James and the Shondelles, and Sixpence None the Richer.

1. What does your screenname mean? Why did you pick it?

I'm a fan of Indigo City from Alan Moore's Tomorrow Stories - the noirish pulpy hometown of Greyshirt and the Cobweb. I would love to fight crime with Cobweb and Clarice, knocking back martinis and languishing all night long....

2. What X-Books do you read? You are here cause you read them.

Let's see - before the age of 13 I read mostly DC comics. Then i stumbled upon Avengers Annual 10 and said to myself "who are these X-Men?" and 9 longboxes and many years later, here I am.

My favorite era is the '84-85 John Romita Jr Uncanny. And New Mutants. My GOD did I love New Mutants. At least, until Claremont left.

I gave up on X-Men, utterly disgusted by Inferno, till one of my best friends became hooked with a vengeance - so I read on and off throughout the 90's. Read a lot of Morrison's run. Now, I'm only really compelled to follow Astonishing just to see what Whedon does (I'm also a sick Buffy Angel addict).

3. What is your favorite movie?

This list is always changing. Some are: Excalibur, Belle Epoque, Exorcist II the Heretic (a wonderful comedy-art film), the Wicker Man, X1 and X2, and many more...

4. What music do you listen to?

Late 70's punk, 80's new wave/alternative, 60's & 70's soul, etc etc

5. Tell us about you.

32. Bilingual. Terse.

I work in cancer research treating the disease known as multiple myeloma; the "dm" portion stands for "Data Management", the title of my department. Rather boring really.

2. What X-Books do you read? You are here cause you read them.
I used to read Uncanny, X-Men (then New, now X again??), New Mutants (turned X-Factor, then gave up on it), New Mutants again, Uncanny again, X-Men again ;), and the first Astonishing X-Men (Enough to know I won't like it). *Sigh...I miss the old days...*

Not really. I've become much more political the past 3 or 4 years. Hitting 30 - while having nothing actual to do with the situation - makes one reflective in the sense that, well, I have a stake in the world and should like to exercise some influence upon what happens to my country/planet/etc.

As for oldest here, I don't know, but Puma is both a woman AND older than the norm. Don't quote me on this, but I believe she's around your age range, bagheera. So at least you have some company!
:)

-D

if bagheera is mid-forties she has me by one or two years ;). and I second Jadie's comment, it's nice to have another lady on the board - welcome

1. um... the equation is MD (Maryland) Actor 1980... I'm from Maryland (tiny east coast state... USA), I'm an actor, and i was born in 1980

2. most of them... the core 2 will always be there... Uncanny and ??? (x-men.new... whatever the hell) I sometimes attempt the solo titles... but i'm much more into the group dynamic in the books... and i never understood how they can have monthly solo ordeals and fit in with the core book continuity...

3. X2, Nowhere, Party Girl, Threesome, Mean Girls, Jawbreaker... anything indie, horror, or comic related

4. top 3 favorites - Tori Amos, Kylie Minogue, Lil Kim... obviously very eclectic... love house, pop, 2step, hip hop, and recently getting into punk

5. 23 year old guy from Baltimore... I have an office job by day where i get to slack off a lot with a speedy internet connection, I'm an actor... mostly community theatre... but i'm starting to get into film... locally, we'll see what happens... really into music, comics, clothes, movies, partying, my friends... whatever... oh... and I'm gay... woohoo

6. I just joined yesterday... but i'm sure i'll be obsessed in a week or two

I can't believe you like Nowhere. I can't believe someone who isn't me (or who hasn't been forced by me) has seen Nowhere.

Hmmm..there can't be two movies called Nowhere, can there?

Dude, Gregg Araki is brilliant. Except for The Living End... that one didn't grab me... but Nowhere is brilliant. I love making other people watch it because it is so insane... everyone has a different reaction. Doom Generation was just as good... and Splendor is not too bad... still haven't been able to find a copy of Totall F*cked Up at a price i can afford tho.

Totally F*cked Up is good, but you can see he was a little bored by the end.

Nowhere is one of those great movies to show friends. You certainly get an idea of what kind of person they are.

And I admit I used to have the entire scene with the three valley girls memeorized. "PLUS, he's got a Lexus"

Hey y'all, it's been awhile since 'Zero Hour' or whatnot happened with the old boards, but I'm just now getting a chance to reregister (school and work have been busy!). My old username was 'DCLyman'.

Long-story-short: I'm 21, and I grew up in Boston, but am currently persuing degrees in Neuroscience and Biopsychology at the University of Texas at Austin. Along with school, I'm also persuing my actual dream, which is to be a film and/or television actor, and have done some modeling to pay some bills... okay, to pay more bar-tabs than actual bills, but y'all college kids know what I mean. :D

From all those months ago when I was last an active poster, I remember Bakla, BrianCronin, AtoningUnifex, Mr.Jip, and Quarterwolf the most (mostly from their interesting posts)... y'all still around???

Anyway, I think that's enough. I'm gonna catch up on all of this now.

I don't think I've made my reappearance of yet on the X-Board since the big crash. So here goes...

I'm Mandy. I joined up almost exactly a year ago here on the X-Board and eventually ventured out onto other boards. I'm a big X-fan, have been since I was about 10 or so (now I'm 23). I WAS a big Jean Grey fan, but, as a good Jean fan, I have to deal with her semi-annual death and root for Rachel.

To my fellow posters: Sorry I've been dropping the ball. I've been out of commission of late due to a grueling post-grad job search and dialup woes.

i figured i might as well

1. What does your screenname mean? Why did you pick it?
I currently live in Nicaragua (in Central America).

2. What X-Books do you read? You are here cause you read them.
Due to the answer of the previous question, I can only find Uncanny X-men and I pay 4 bucks for it. I used to read Uncanny, Xmen, Xforce, and Generation X when I was in high school.

3. What is your favorite movie?
it's really no fair to try to play favorites. I recently saw Lawrence of Arabia and Big Fish...both were really good.

4. What music do you listen to?
mostly folky stuff and old rock. As long as nobody's screaming, I'll listen to whatever.

5. Tell us about you.
I am 23 years old and live in Nicaragua. I recently ran into an Uncanny issue at the airport and decided to look for a place to catch up online and ran across the ole CBR. I drum.

6. Do you give a "X" about us
yep

2. What X-Books do you read?

3. What is your favorite movie?
groundhog's day, adaptation, goonies, anything with kiera knightley

4. What music do you listen to?
Everything thats on the radio or mtv

5. Tell us about you.
26 with a ms in school counseling, looking for a job. wouldn't mind writing comics

6. Do you give a "X" about us

Let's see...

1. What does your screenname mean? Why did you pick it?

Umm..it's my name. I work on (and pimp for!) the PaperbackReader (http://www.paperbackreader.com) site under my real name, so I figured that there was no real point in a screen name...though I was once known as Dicky El (and still am some places!)

2. What X-Books do you read? You are here cause you read them.
Uncanny, Astonishing, New, Adjectiveless, Cable/Deadpool, Mystique...basically everything but Emma Frost and DistrictX

3. What is your favorite movie?
Ever? Casablanca. Classic, just classic. Recent? errr..Mean Girls, or possibly Shrek 2. I'm eclectic like that. I suspect if you ask me in a month, it'll be Spider-Man 2.

4. What music do you listen to?
Pretty much anything except hardcore dance, garage and techno.

5. Tell us about you.
29; struggling writer (struggling to get published, not struggling to write); have a day job I hate and a girlfriend I don't.

6. Do you give a "X" about us
From time to time.

1. What does your screenname mean? Why did you pick it?
This is an old nickname of mine (using my last name), and it kinda stuck. It works though, because I mostly collect Marvel Comics related action figures (especially female figures).

2. What X-Books do you read? You are here cause you read them.
I am in LOVE with X-Statix :D and I will rue the day that the last issue comes out :evilangry . I need my monthly fix of Mr. Sensitive, Vivisector, Dead Girl, Venus, The Anarchist, and Doop (eventhough, at any moment, they could die and be replaced...). I am also in love with the current Mystique comic book :p . I also read some other various X-Books (the main ones mostly, and I keep picking up Excalibur even though I don't really like the fact of them bringing "you know who" back so soon...)

3. What is your favorite movie?
"Nights of Caberia" by Fellini, though I do have a soft spot for overmelodramatic Chinese films (i.e. "Raise the Red Lantern")

4. What music do you listen to?
I listen to everything from Madonna to Bjork, from Jason Mraz to Beastie Boys, and from Pizzicato Five to the musicals of Steven Sondheim. (Don't ask...)

5. Tell us about you.
I just recently graduated from a Radiologic Technologist program at a local community college, and I finally have a well paying job which I love (I get to take x-rays everyday! It's like having my own superpower!!!). That, and I finally have money to spend on action figures (my darn Marvel Legends are everywhere!!!)

6. Do you give a "X" about us
Well, I just finally found a board that I can talk about my X-fetishes (O.K., I didn't mean it that way!!!), so I guess... YES!!!

My name:Is thy name of Legends. You all shall quake In fear of It!!(cue evil laugh).

SUPERECWFAN1.

So whats It mean?Is It some age old philosphy on Death or the Anti-Life equation? No mortals..It Is as I shall explain....

There was a company In "South Philadelphia PA...America....PLANET EARTH!!" and It came to be that they would have great wrestling. And this would please me to no end.Watching my heroes do bloody battles In barbed wire and In cages!

Then as I came upon the Internet one day, a day that will live In Infamy, I saw that the landscape did not have an ECW...Fan.So I assumed the "Mantle" of ECWFAN.I became ECWFAN from that day forward.

Once that poor site fell In glorious battle (Went broke) I drifted til I landed at CBR.It was here, those many moons ago, that I decided to become a Super Human Wrestling fan!I would become SUPERECWFAN1!!!

What X-Books do I read:Astonishing,Uncanny,MadroX, and X-Men.All 4 have different feels. It pleases SUPERECWFAN1 to no end as I sit here and defend Chuck Austen!Because come on, how many people can nitpick the same thing?Over.....and over....and over?

Big BAFOON... I didn't know there was a new one of these thingies going around and I've been back a good while... Schizzle my fazzizle... I feel like a newbie. And no offense to those that are... just a flashback of sorts

Here goes

1. What does your screenname mean? Why did you pick it?
Hi, I'm Phoenix formerly known as Phoenix.... A.K.A. Nick. My screenname has something to do with my slight obsession with Jean Grey which turned into an obsession with the Phoenix itself... so 13 years a boatload of comics, action figures and video games, and 2 of 3 sisters living in Phoenix Az... I declare myself a righteous fan! =)

2. What X-Books do you read? You are here cause you read them.
I read them all... Even torture myself reading Wolverine because it's an X book... And I dislike Wolvy much so... My fav for sure is Astonishing.. Cuz Joss is my all time hero. We were born on the same day 16 years apart... SO I believe we are creative soul mates! =)

3. What is your favorite movie?
X-Men and X2 (like any nerd fan-boy) are my favorite all time movies... But I can easily say the BEST (and in 2nd place as fav) would Be Life As A House. It's great and awesome and all that jazz!!!

4. What music do you listen to?
anything that isn't rap... super mucho kudos to the BIB who is a Belinda fan.. me as well... The Go Go's RULE!

5. Tell us about you.
I'm 24 and living with my boyfriend/fiancee... and for the first time ever, I have something/someone that isn't the X-Men making me happy! So YAY me. I want to create more comics for you all to read.. I love to draw and to write, and one day hope that you will feverishly talk badly about me on these here X-Boards!

6. Do you give a "X" about us
Yes I do.. even though my posting habits don't show it much... I've been here forever... just nearly as long as Drew... With a WAY smaller mouth... uhm... posting wise!

Mr. Jip

"Nights of Caberia" by Fellini, though I do have a soft spot for overmelodramatic Chinese films (i.e. "Raise the Red Lantern")

I listen to everything from Madonna to Bjork, from Jason Mraz to Beastie Boys, and from Pizzicato Five to the musicals of Steven Sondheim. (Don't ask...)

i like this guy's tastes.
X-Ray ME~~!!!!!!!!!~~~~~

Welcome again, Phoenix.
Fiance... ooOOOoooh, envious!

Welcome Doomed, SUPERECWFAN1, JCMAHAL (hey parey~~) & mattbib.

1. What does your screenname mean? Why did you pick it?

It's from an Alan Ginsberg poem... I can't remember the title off the top of my head right now - I don't feel like getting up to find my copy of Howl I don't know; I just remember reading it when I was like 15 and that phrase sticking out at me. I had to look up "absconded" and when I put it all together... It was so beautiful. So, yeah, I bastardize it by using it as an internet handle...

2. What X-Books do you read? You are here cause you read them.

Astonishing, Exiles, Ultimate, Emma Frost...

3. What is your favorite movie?

Full Metal Jacket. Also, The Royal Tenenbaums. Different favorite movies for very different moods.

4. What music do you listen to?

A lot of country, The Shins, Nick Drake, cheesy folk music (Peter, Paul and Mary, Pete Seeger, and some less cheesy stuff like Bob Dylan and Joni Mitchell)

5. Tell us about you.

I'm a college student in Portland, Oregon, majoring in Anthropology. I originated in the South (East Tennessee! in a tiny cracker town!) but I was educated in Connecticut. Uh, I'm sure there's more, but that's just a general overview.

6. Do you give a "X" about us

Uh, sure... I've lurked around for a while, never gotten around to posting. But, the more work school gives me, the more appealing this board seems as a form of procrastination...

So, yeah, that's me, reduced to the answers of six simple questions. I'm getting more work than anyone could possibly finish, so expect to see me around more often.

From wayyyyy back in the old days of the internet (BBS, gopher and the like), there just weren't that many of us on it, and I could get away with using my real name, rather than having to use something like "er1k6482kewlguy" because just-plain "erik_f" wasn't yet taken.

2. What X-Books do you read? You are here cause you read them.

Are you sure? I could just be lonely :p Nah. Astonishing, X-Men, Uncanny, Academy X. I got back into the loop last year after not reading any X-Books for awhile because I had gotten disenheartened with the output during the '90s. I'll say it: Morrison got me back into the X-Men. Whedon's kept me into it.

3. What is your favorite movie?

Empire Strikes Back or Notorious. Depends on my mood.

4. What music do you listen to?

Just about anything with a spark of originality. Current stuff includes Autechre, Varttina, Bark Psychosis, Bela Bartok, and the Haibane Renmei soundtrack.

Thanks for the warm welcome all!

Venuscameback- I love meeting people that like Cibo Matto! That's awesome! I met Miho Hatori a few months back when I was in NY- it was very exciting. Oh and I also like Tori Amos a lot- I LOVE little earthquakes. It was the only album I listened to for 2 years of highschool.

i seem to have decided to say "hello" again after a very long absence, so...

1. What does your screenname mean? Why did you pick it?
it’s a sort of ubiquitous ‘everyman’. when i first used it many a moon ago i think it was because it was something very common that i felt i could hide behind - using it as a buffer between me and then new experience of posting opinions/views on a message board. over time it then came to fit and, though its not been in use for a long-time, is now like a pair of comfy old slippers that i’d not be without.

2. What X-Books do you read? You are here cause you read them.
i used to read new-x-men, x-factor, x-statix, gen x, ultimate x-men and cable/solider-x.

when last I posted regularly here i was down to just ‘new’ i think. i fell out of love with many a comic book and from a selection of 30-odd monthly titles i was down, all told, to the 6 or 7 that I felt were actually worth my time and money.

the last x-book i read was grant’s last issue when i bought the vol.3 hardcover. i had had to give up buying even my final few titles each month being away from a local comic shop and then about 14-months ago i decided to branch out and move to southampton, where i work, which meant all my disposable income vanished into decorating my new flat and entering into a love-hate relationship with my nice shinny new mortgage…

i have flicked through a couple of issues of ‘astonishing’ (?) since then and will be picking that up once its been collected. i’m not sure what else is currently out there and who’s working on what so anything more will have to wait and see.

3. What is your favorite movie?
to name just one it would probably have to be ‘the usual suspects’.

4. What music do you listen to?
indie/alternative. currently listening to ‘the walkmen’, ‘razorlight’, ‘22/20’s’, ‘the killers’, ‘hope of the states’, ‘bloc party’. favourite band is ‘radiohead’.

5. Tell us about you.
my name is russell. typically russ.
i am now the grand old age of 25.
i live in southampton, england (or UK, or Britain etc if you prefer).
i work five-days a week and tend to sleep a lot at weekends.
went to plymouth university, where in june 2002 i graduated with a degree in business studies.
tend not use capital letters when typing on messages boards or sending e-mails (i forget why, habit is enough of an excuse for me these days).
like beer.
like going to the cinema.
support newcastle united and bognor regis town (sort of home town club) football clubs.
anything else’ll cost ya!

6. Do you give a "X" about us
