Is Dc ever going to put out any new Who's Who in the DCU?? It's been almost 15 years since the last update! I heard that Mark Waid was writting it some years back, but nothing ever came of it.

Well, do you count the DC Encyclopedia, which was DC updated version of Who's Who.

Rather than publish a new Who's Who that will be outdated by the time it's completed, DC Comics should create bios for every character on its website and update it every couple of months. It would increase traffic to dccomics.com and help make their comics more reader friendly.

They have published a big HC book DC Encyclopedia, to bad it was just before this new crisis.
But it's a nice book, i wish Marvel would do something like this instead of the invidual books they use now, but maybe when they are done with those they will put them all together in one book.
I don't only see this books as facts, but it's a bit history too, it's fun with older books about comics too even if they are outdated.
Often the trends varies and diffrent things will be excluded in the books wrom diffrent time periods.

That book was full of errors and omissions, and didn't take Pre-COIE history into much account (and when it did, it did so fitfully and inconsistently). The presentation of the character and paraphrenelia profiles were also not as extensive and thorough as the original WHO'S WHO series, and furthermore, the illustrations were lifted from existing comics (and not always the best picks either) rather than newly commissioned illustrations.

I still think it's a nice book, and it doesn't bother me if not all the facts are correct, i get to see a picture of the hero and get som basic knowledge of him/her.
I'm not like most people here an expert on every possible superhero, i don't even know half of those in that book.
And i don't see why pre-COIE should be in it, its a book about comics a year ago, there are lot of books about golden age or silver age.
So for the ordinary person this books is just fine, but of course they should have corrected the errors for the second printings.

It's all right for the uninitiated, but for the hardcore, established DC fans, the many flaws in the book are irritating...especially since the outdated WHO'S WHO was so much better in so many ways.

Yes i can understand that, it's nothing for real experts more than a nice looking book.

Word is that there'll be a two page "Who's Who" entry in each issue of 52 that'll showcase a character.

Two pages per character? Now *that* sounds promising. Those SECRET FILES entries we've been served up the past decade or so left *much* to be desired.

I thought they were going to be two page "origin" sequences rather than Who's Who type entries. Either way should be cool, though.
I agree that the DC Encylopedia is a poor substitute for the quality of DC's previous Who's Who series. I thought the artwork selection was poor, and the entries on teams in particular left a lot to be desired. Is it too much to ask that the JLA, JSA, Titans, Legion, etc. entries listed every member and the issue they first joined? Otherwise, what's the point of this stuff. And that cover's got to be the ugliest thing Ross ever did. Wonder Woman looks like a man in drag.

I hate Ross's art. He has to use models to paint from, not his own darn imagination, like most comic artists. I respect him as a "real" artist, but not as a creator upon the comic book medium. Thats cause i dont find him creative.
As for the encolopedia, it's good enough for hardcore fans that can look past/know the real answer to the ommisions and mistakes. As for anything pre-crisis, who cares? none of it is official canon anymore so it can be as wrong as they want it to be. I was also disapointed about the picures used, but thats the same complaint with the Marvel handbooks being published now. Damn do I love the old ones witht he custom art...

I believe Marvel is starting an alphabetical Official Handbook to the Marvel Universe this week or within the next month. You would think DC would follow suit and do another Who's Who, then again, maybe they are planning one.

I usually get wikipedia to fill me in on a lot of things. Generally the posts have been written by fans and are pretty good.
wikipedia.dccomics.com ??? maybe? (probably not)
