Since Amalgam is actually published by DC comics. Can I create some threads here based on that Marvel vs DC Universe?

I'm just curious, why didn't Marvel put claim on this one also? As I did fall in love with some of the chars. Like Angelhawk, Shatterstarfire, Sunstorm, Darkclaw, Speed Demon, and Super Soldier.

Is Amaglam even alive anymore? I haven't seen em in a comic book store. Yeah, I know this event is old, but it was a good one. At least to me.

I will say that I've always loved Spider-Boy's design... which is part of the reason I like Invincible's look so much. Just put a jacket on Mark and you'll get an idea of what I mean. :)

And yeah, I'd be all for seeing a recurrence of the Amalgam universe.

I thought Amalgam was awesome. I'd welcome it again with open arms.

Amalgam was ok.. There was some good and some bad to it. It would never work as an onoing thing though.

My favorites were Dark Claw and Magneto and the Magentic Men.

Amalgam was alright. Some of the characters I didn't like all that much, some were pure awesome. There was good and bad to it, like Archive said. I could see a special, but not anything of an ongoing.

Asian Knight has new info?:

I'm not sure what you mean. The Amalgam books were originally an offshoot of DC vs. Marvel/Marvel vs. DC. Both were published jointly by the two companies, as was the second go around of Amalgam. There were some minis about Access, but DC would do one and Marvel would do one.

As far as I know, DC and Marvel jointly own Amalgam, unless you've got some new information I haven't heard.

Yeah, Amalgam was jointly owned by Marvel and DC, with each company publishing half of the comics. They did something similar with JLA/AVENGERS, where Marvel published issues 1 and 3 and DC published 2 and 4.

As for the comics themselves, I'm going to invoke the 1602 Rule: when a story is only interesting because of the easter eggs, it ain't worth your time. The joke of trying to figure out which characters were going to get smooshed together got old real quick.

I was also pretty ticked that many of the Amalgam comics ended in cliffhangers that had no shot of ever being concluded. It seemed... dishonest, somehow.

I did enjoy BULLETS AND BRACELETS and DOCTOR STRANGEFATE (Garcia-Lopez and Nowlan on art!) though.

Amazon was the greatest superhero EVER.

I loved Amalgam.

I'd welcome it back.

Meh, of all the alternate universes DC made or helped make Amalgam is one of the last I'd want back. Granted I loved it as a kid but then I loved a lot of stupid things back then. Upon rereading them recently they aren't nearly as good as I remember, either in concept or execution.

I'd prefer Tangent to come back myself. That world actually interested me.

I liked Super Soilder, and JLX.Its a shame..i remember buying all the Issue 1`s..then around after 1996 i did not hear from it ever again. Why did it die out so quickly? It was as if it was a huge failure, and Marvel and DC wanted to forget it ever happened.

the only downside to those comics was that you had to know alot about each comic company past and present to enjoy the books. at the time other than batman realted comics i was strictly a marvel guy and many of the books confused me. now that i read 98% dc titles and back issues they make more sense

the market for that kind of book is slim - maybe a oneshot every so often like a Marvel Comics Presents/Showcase book

Apathy Boy hates the Easter Bunny! :

Well, it's worth your time if you like that sort of thing and know going in, but, yeah, that's pretty much Amalgam's only appeal to me. And it does get tired fast. I really have no interest in MORE of them.

I was also pretty ticked that many of the Amalgam comics ended in cliffhangers that had no shot of ever being concluded. It seemed... dishonest, somehow.

I actually enjoyed that, myself. They did a lot (or at least attempted) to make it seem like a "real" comic universe, using footnotes, dialogue, cliffhangers and letter's pages to give it a past and a future as well as a present.

Yeah, the line was never slated to be anything more than a limited series.

I got a real kick out of that as well.

I think Amalgam would work as a quarterly or bi-monthly kind of anthology book, with a revolving cast of characters, but it's probably asking too much for Marvel and DC to collaborate on something ongoing.

What i liked about Amalgam was the combination of characters. I mean my fave chars were Darkclaw, Super Soldier, Spider-Boy, Dare, Catsai, Princess Shatterstarfire, Sunstorm, Dr. Strangefate, and Beastling.

I mean Dr. Strangefate would be a formidable foe to Apocalypse. As he has the mind of Xavier and the powers of Dr. Strange/Dr. Fate. Who knows what spells he could do even against the combined skills of Dr. Fate n Dr. Strange.

Or even Batman vs Darkclaw. From my perspective, Darkclaw is a more darker version of Bats himself. I mean they both have gadgets, could be called the best of the best at one point or another. And they both have so much talent in hand-to-hand combat that if Darkclaw didn't have the claws. It'd be a draw.

Guess i had forgotten about that. As the Amalgam ones I got were published by DC.

In each round of Amalgam I think half of the books were published by Marvel and half by DC. Each of the TPBs just collects the stories from one or the other.
