Review

Been awhile since I done one of these so hopefully I'm still in form.

Leslie gets fired from her post on air because the boss had his wife saved by Superman. She blames her life coming tumbling down on Superman because of what she sees that he is the main attraction not her.

She gets pissed and climbs up the tower in the middle of a lightening storm and lights herself up.

Superman awakens after his ordeal with the Queen of Fables and goes on the search for Lois but is interrupted when Leslie decides to delay him while Lois is forced to dance with Willis at literal gunpoint.

Livewire, as she calls herself, has him on the ropes because of he hasn't totally come back to full health after dealing with the Queen. Superman gives her a warning but she decides to derail a train. So Superman gets the train back on the tracks while Livewire gets distracted by a kid throwing a hamburger at her.

He subdues her while Lois runs for her life. After Livewire is subdued and in custody, Clark hurries to Lois and saves her from being shot.

Later on, he goes to dinner with Josef and his wife where Josef tells him that he is worried about Superman's effect on Jimmy and his willingness to take risks. Superman allays his concerns and flies away.

Thoughts

This...is why I love to read Superman. The character work is constant. The right mix of character work with action is balanced beautifully in this comic.

A great way to wrap up the arc. With nods to what has happened early in the run. Made me think (I don't like having to turn my brain off to read a good story).

This why he is Superman. There is a constant that he has to be. During Gail's run on this title, it has been a constant reminder of why he is, who he is.

In addition there were some awesome lines in this. "That Batman and green Flash need to have an intervention for him." was priceless.

"This is my favorite part-- when they stop smiling." Another great one.

The kid throwing the hamburger at Livewire was awesome. Symbolised everything that Superman is to me (unlike what IC has Superman acting like for the most part). A great "PWNED!" moment.

A definite great week for Gail Simone written comics. Birds of Prey was awesome as well.
