Today's Joe Rice's birthday, but he's sick. No one should be TOTALLY miserable on his/her birthday, so I thought we could use this thread to tell and show him things he likes - things that might cheer him up or help him focus on good stuff.*

I don't know how you feel about variants, but here's one of a book I think you may have mentioned once or twice... :p

* - In case the idea putters, I didn't wanna do it in your birthday thread, Joe. If this sucks some kinda way, lemme know and I'll change the initial post and ask a mod to delete/lock the thread.

Thanks, west!

Dude, the second issue comes out TODAY! Man. I better start feeling better in time to go get it. Lisa got my comics for me while I was sick once, but that was before it was further in Brooklyn with Rocketship.

It's sweet that she does that for you. There's something (/someone) else to think about when you're feeling down!

Something about that seems uber-sweet. Lucky man.*

* - Not that I don't think my g.f. would do it, but it's never come up before, that I recall.

Heh. To be fair, she made fun of me for weeks. "I can't believe you made me, your girlfriend, go in that place! They were creeping me out!"

Hm. On the other hand, she DOES like Rocketship.

Heh. As if a birthday weren't reason enough to feel miserable! "Desperado, you ain’t getting’ no younger" :D

I hope you get well soon, Joe, the kids are waiting for you to get back to work.

If the World's Mightiest Mortal smiling and happy doesn't cheer you up, Joe...

Alright. I've got nothing else. That will have to do.

You are ONLY 28 and you are already the hero to a LOT of children. I think that is pretty impressive. Cheers to you.

Joe I have a joke for you:

so superman is flying around metropolis one day and he's bored as gl and robin have gone on a fishing trip and ''its not his thing''. As he's flying about he spots wonder woman sunbathing on top of a skyscraper maked, he thinks to himself this is the perfect opportunity to have his wicked way with her. he fly's down fast as a speeding bullet does his business and fly's off. '' what the fuck was that?'' says wonder woman... ''I don't know'' says the invisible man '' but arse doesn't half hurt''......

I'm including a pic based on the comic that you defended and I still find puzzling.

This is actually one of the most exciting shipping weeks in forever. New Planetary! All Star Superman! Ex Machina! Planetary!!! Runaways and Walking Dead are always good to get too. Too bad we've all lost our enthusiasm for Losers or that would be more good news.

Joe, you probably missed these pics when I first posted them. They were taken at a 'Golden Age of Comic Books' exhibition at the local Jewish Heritage Museum here in Atlanta. These three pics are for you:

CMJ pencils (http://forums.comicbookresources.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=19520)

Joe faints (forums.comicbookresources.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=19521)

Big Red Cheese stuff (http://forums.comicbookresources.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=19522)

If his presents didn't cheer him up, Lois Lane's present in ALL-STAR SUPERMAN might have.
