I emailed Guy earlier today because I was curious if there were any merchandising plans for The Marquis:

"Thanks Dan,
I'm happy to hear you enjoyed the Marquis (and also my work on BPRD).
Right now I'm working on the next Marquis mini-series (The Marquis and
the Midwife) whenever I can inbetween BPRD deadlines. Hopefully I'll
have the new Marquis story announced with some preview art on the site
soon.

I wouldn't mind seeing a Marquis action figure myself or maybe a
bust/statue, but right now there are no plans for any figure
merchandise. Maybe once the new series is released and depending on how
it's recieved there's always the chance for more merchandising if there
is enough interest. On the art prints, the size of each is 11x17~

Thanks again and I hope you continue to enjoy the books.
take care,
Guy"

He responded so quickly! He seems like a nice guy. I've heard people talk about him here before but having never interacted with him I really had no clue.

It sounds as if you might have been doubting the awesomeness (http://forums.comicbookresources.com/showthread.php?t=26418&highlight=davis) of Guy. :p

j/k Yeah, Guy is one of the nicest guys out there. Now you've got to get some art from him. :D

I don't think it was so much doubt as something you need to experience yourself, ya know?

I do plan to get the art. I'm not sure if I want all three prints though. The Intermezzo cover is great and I like the other 2 but I don't know if I really want them for putting out, ya know? I wish some of the covers were offered as prints (such as the mignola cover for example :))

yeah, i ordered the three prints and the sketchbook from Guy like..4 months ago. When he sent it he even put some little Marquis doodles in with a note, I got em framed.

You know, at first I could either take or leave Guy's work. I read the Marquis and Nevermen, and enjoyed them, but it took watching him evolve with the BPRD series to really open my eyes. And there's also something about an artist/writer who is genuinely nice that draws me even closer to their work and allows me to respect them even more.

Never again will I doubt the awesomeness of Guy Davis!

Yeah, no question about the awsomeness.

I was able to talk to him over email myself, three or four, short conversation (got it in my inbox still, I think). He was kind enough to answer my questions, I'd already bought a piece of his artwork from him.

It's one thing to compare notes with your friends who pretend to be artists, but it's another to talk with a professional.

Most comic writers, artists what have you, that I've met..they've all been nothing less than friendly. Guy was no exception.

How can someone possibly doubt Guy's awesomeness after Black Flame issue #5?
