Simple sort of question and topic. Do you drink coffee? How many cups a day do you drink? Or is there another (non alcoholic) beverage that you favour?

I love coffee.

Forced myself to drop it down to the occasional cup every now and again though, due to it becoming to much of a nessecity.
(I figured I had to give up somthing and it wasn't going to be smoking or self-love).

That said, I still can't resist a can of coke every couple of days, if not more.

Becuase I drink stupid amounts of Tea. But I don't drink coffee.

I used to down coffee, triple shot mochas, lattes and everything else while studying for tests. Playing the role I guess. It's not exactly a healthy habit so Idrink nothing but water and fruit juices now.

On workdays, I drink about 2-3 cups of black coffee in the morning. After lunch, I switch to tea or else it feels like my kidneys are going on strike. I drink about 2 cups of tea a day.

Friend or foe? Coffee is my friend, my lover, my life partner and my mistress all rolled up into one. I'm addicted. It'll probably kill me, but I usually get in around 3 or 4 cups a day. I'm a writer and I keep weird hours. Coffee is part of my job description.

What's up with everyone having a sweet tooth? You don't like coffee because it doesn't taste good? What do you live on, lollipops and Pepsi?

Nothing that tastes like coffee will ever past my lips. It's the most disgusting thing I've ever tasted.
Christ on a crutch, you have weak taste buds. What alcohol do you drink? Are you too young to drink?

I also tend to only buy comics I like. Go figure.

Christ on a crutch, you have weak taste buds. What alcohol do you drink? Are you too young to drink?I dunno about oce, but my taste buds are just fine.

Also I don't drink alcohol, despite the fact that I am old enough to do so. Among other things, I don't like the way it tastes.

Foe.

I can't stand the taste or smell of it. It just overwhelms those senses and does not let me enjoy anything else for awhile

I enjoy tea a lot more and drink it whenever I need a small jolt.

I like the taste of coffee, but I shake so badly when I drink it that I simply steer clear these days. Bad shake inducing stuff.

I think that I had a coffee hangover one time after drinking coffee all damned day. I was up all night and peed about a 100 times that day. The next morning I had a headache and felt like ass.

I've never been a coffee drinker. I'd only drink coffee late, late night if we ever went out to a diner, or when I was camping and it was cold in the morning.

However, since I started working at my new job I've had one cup of coffee (well, a mug of 1/2 coffee and 1/2 milk) every morning I've worked.

2-3 cups a day but when I factor in the caffeine from diet pepsi I said four.

Definitely a friend.
I have at least one cup a day during the work week. It's ridiculous how much better it makes me feel. I've always had bad sinuses, so the heat helps open me up in addition to the caffeine.

Coffee is my friend. I drink three or four "Americanos" a day (two shots of espresso with hot water). I like the taste of any coffee straight up without cream or sugar. There is a cafe here in Victoria that has these beautiful antique Italian brass espresso makers with angels perched on top and they roast their own beans. The place smells fantastic and if I have the time I love to go there and enjoy an espresso while I read the paper. I make coffee as soon as I get out of bed and for years I called it "giver of life".

Sweet tea is pretty up there though.

Christ on a crutch, you have weak taste buds. What alcohol do you drink? Are you too young to drink?

No. I'm 18 actually. But I don't drink. Pointless to me, and beer/ lager tastes disgusting. I had to suck a lemon to get rid of the taste. It was just horrific.
My taste buds are quite strong actually.
But more to the point, what's alcohol gotta do with coffee.
Even thinking about it makes me feel nasty.

Coffee is my friend. I love drinking coffee in the mornings while watching some TV or when sitting in front of the computer. I've cut back a lot, I don't drink it every day. But I still average probably about 3 cups a day. I drink it black most of the time. Sometimes, I put the fat-free vanilla creamer in it that my wife uses.

StoneGold
01-18-2006, 10:34 AM
I can drink coffee black, put I prefer it with some sugar in there. Or even better, Splenda. It's weird, one packet of Splenda will sweeten a cup much better than two packs of sugar. I can't explain it.

Don't need milk or creamer though. I'll take it occasionally, if I'm feeling like a pussy that day. Or if the coffee is just really, really bad. Like two days old reheated, and it's melting the spoon.

Coffee is like alcohol. It takes most people a while to develop a taste for it. It seems like your tastebuds have to be past a certain age or something.

I drink two cups in the morning and then stop. With skim milk. Just the free stuff at the office. Lattes and such aren't worth it to me. One pot on the weekend with the paper; also just milk.

About half the time in the afternoon I need more caffeine. Then it's either Diet Coke or Diet Dr Pepper.

Oh and I'll frequently have coffee (usually decaf) with dessert in a restaurant.

I never drank coffee until law school. I quickly became a coffe achiever. I do try to limit myself to 1 or 2 cups a day.

My roommate preferred 'Dox's version, however. He'd buy the 2 liter bottles of MD and shake them up and slowly open and close them to let all the carbonation out. Then he'd drink it -- warm and flat. It still sends shivers up my spine to think of it.

I load mine up at work with cream, sugar, and about a third of a package of hot cocoa. Cafe mocha. Delish.
I have no problem with black, but given a choice, I'll put a buncha crap in it to take away the bitterness.

A word of advice though...do NOT put the cocoa mix directly in the filter. The fine powder coats the filter and clogs it up, causing the coffee maker to overflow.

When I was a 3-L four of us had back to back "Condos" (very large desks/carrells) on the third floor of the law school. We had two coffee pots going constantly from about 7 am to at least midnight. Of course as 3-L's the focus of the day was less on studying and more on job search and fantasy football and basketball with a bit of bar prep thrown in.

I thought there was soemthing wrong with this poll, as the numbers only went up to nine.

I make an 8 cup cafetiere in the morning, another at lunch and a third in the evening - I then have two or three mugs of coffee at work.

I now have my coffee black with no sugar - my Tai Chi instructer asked me to go dairy free last year - it lasted for a month - but I now no longer take milk with anything.

These days, I'll have a cup of tea first thing in the morning, and a couple of cans of coke during the day.

Coffee's my best friend, and were it to have a physical manifestation beyond that of a steaming cup of god and win, I'd skip through a field with it.

For the type: Strong and black. I'll only ever put other stuff in it if I need to drink it just then. Otherwise, I let it sit for about forty minutes in the mug in the car, and by the time I'm wherever I need to be it's at the perfect drinking temperature.

2 cups is the norm for me, though if I'm pulling an all-nighter it can be as high as six. I tend to prefer Dark Roast, too, but the people I share the pot with couldn't handle the taste.

Coffee is my reliable co-worker. I always liked the smell of coffee but not the taste, but it was a necessary evil during my first tax season, as well pretty much my whole accounting career so far. Every weekend, I abstained from coffee. I wrote this back when I was still drinking about 7-8 cups a day at work, but now I'm down to 2-3 cups a day:

MAN versus COFFEE

Twitching and muttering, in sleep as in life,
My temples pulsed to a primitive beat.
I craved coffee, black coffee, for its caffeine,
Without which, morning was so incomplete.

Yawning, I fumbled with filters and scoops,
As that vicious machine gurgled with strife.
Then WHAM! The brown powder lifted me so high,
Up to the pace of this modern life.

Give me the strong stuff from the bottom of the pot.
No sugar, no cream, no funny flavors.
Though I know I should stop before my nerves rot,
Give me a cup while my will still wavers.

I’m a zombie at dawn, an edgy fiend by dark.
The coffee bean worked black magic on me.
Oh, that bitter brew left its stain, its mark.
My liquid alertness did not come tax-free.

After how many cups (nobody knows),
The day came when I knew I had to quit.
Coffee, the M.C. of my late, late shows
Had sabotaged my keen, ready wit.

Such weary craving, I will never forget…
By the way, man, can I bum a cigarette?
