People like you are really silly. You think your concept is better then a guy that has been doing comics for well over 15 years. You hide behind some silly name on a board and if you ever meet Erik you would smile in his face and pray that he will take an intrest in your silly book. It's no wonder why most guys with your arrogant attitude never make it. You don't learn from guys that are where you want to be. That's just dumb.

Good luck!!!

Mario, a friendly warning: Personal attacks on other posters are not welcome here at CBR. You're hitting the borderline now. Please refrain from such posts in the future. If you don't like the question he asked or the way he asked it, use your scroll button and go right past it.

Yes they do still take submissions, Erik Larson has posted info on the Image website on how to do it, but if you read last weeks column by Robert Kirkman, and this weeks, you will soon know if you are serious about being a comic writer/artist etc, or if you are just someone with ambition who doesn't follow through. Erik Larson also had a call to arms column a couple of months back where he challenged people to come and show him if they thought their idea was decent, new, fresh and inspiring, have a go he said. If you think you've got it, go for it!!!

I'm a writer... with no artist.

Can you beat the one-legged man in a foot race?, lol.

Back to the grindstone! :)

Last I checked Image wanted a full submission, with scripting and artwork. They wouldn't take writer only or artist only.

But as far as I'm concerned at the moment, getting an artist is the hard part. After I catch one of those types who can make pretty pictures, things should be muuuch simpler. :D

edit: Hmmph. upon further review they do take art only now.

It really is hard if you want to write and have no artistic talent to speak of (like me) cuz finding an artist is pretty damn hard. Most artists who do want to do comics just prefer to write it themselves (or have in my expieriance) or aren't all that dedicated for various reasons be it they just want or are able to do pin ups and not storytelling. Don't care all that much cuz they feel it's not solely theirs why bother. Or just aren't motivated to actually try or unable to do multiple issues easily/often.
All these reasons are probably why Image does accept artists only finding good hard working ones is really bloody hard!

Edit: Oh and I liked Freak Force!

Crap....open mouth, insert foot. :( Dammit, you never know who reads these boards. Let that be a lesson to alla you...watch what you say! There goes my chances of working for Image...oh, wait...he doesn't know my real name!YAY! *feverishly works on Girl Ninja Force submission...*The only problem is that my art is so-so, to put it mildly. My writing is not that great, but...meh. What do I do to find an artist?

My warning for Mario applies to you, as well. Keep it civil.

Freak Force was pretty good....better than I thought it was going to be.

To try and stay on a semi-decent topic, Larsen/Gully, you guys got any tips into getting published? I'm a writer, not artistic skills, and every art school kid I goto has an inflated ego, and wants to charge me 150 dollars per page.....I'm paying for college by myself and survive on ramen noodles, I can't pay them that much...

Tony:

CBR's Never Ending Board and Comic Book Idol Board have numerous talents whose work you might like and whom you can contact, but I'll give you fair warning up front - most of the best have been cherry picked and are currently working somewhere, be it in comics, or in the RPG industry, or elsewhere. If an artist has a paying gig they're currently on or upcoming, they can't afford to take *anyone's* non-paying or "back end pay" arrangements.

Outside of CBR, there's Digital Webbing, Penciljack, DeviantArt, and dozens of other forum sites where there are established and aspiring talents to consider.

Good luck with your search.

I wouldn't recommend Digital Webbing from a writer's perspective.

Very "clique" oriented over there. Month's ago, I posted a plot idea, sorta rushed, at like 2:30AM. Got a couple of responses, most saying it needed re-written. So I re-wrote it. And no one said a thing afterwards.

If your writing is not that great--finding an artist willing to work with you for no money up front can be next to impossible.

And stick to your guns. If you though Freak Force sucked don't buckle just because I stuck my nose in here--but I would ask you to elaborate. WHY did it suck? What issues did you read? What was it about them that you didn't like?

There's no requirement that everybody that works at Image has to like everything (or anything) that I do. It's fine to think something I've done stinks. Hell, I'm not pleased with a lot of it! I'm doing my best to improve--as are we all.

I've used PencilJack. Hooked up with one guy, he did about 2 pages for me, but then told me he couldnt do the rest. I go there frequently thouigh. Digital Webbing, I got no response at all.

Thanks for the tips guys, i really appriciate them.

I'll submit something to image comics soon!!!
See if i get an reply...
I have lot of old ideas and am constantly coming up with new stuff
I just graduated from university (art major) and have freetime to Write and Draw a submission... Finding a job isnt easy...
Guess I'll try breaking into comics
and doing it all myself... though i'm not the best inker
but my pencils and coloring are good
and most people say i should have studied literature cause I write better than I draw... well I have nothing to loose...
Mr. Eric Larsen U'll be hearing from me in a month or 2!!! :evilsmile
