I recently had a conversation with a friend of mine about the recent DC mini Infinite Crisis vs the recent House of M. I brought up the notion that despite what anyone thought about IC, DC's writers cared more about their characters than Marvel; DC has tried (more or less) to create a cohesive universe and pull their characters into the 21st century (while maintaining their basic character). I mean when you read an interview from DC writers they seem to actually like their characters and try to interpret them for the audience. Marvel on the other hand is a really mixed bag. Some characters have been very fortunate that they have had writers that have tried to work with their characters (lack Panther, Daredevil, Fantastic Four). But Marvel also has messed some prized bulls up. My main example is the New Avengers; now I love Bendis's Daredevil (late convert) there he slowly built a title that is well deserved in its accolades; but the New Avengers is not well thought out and his weakness for the more traditional superheroics is plain. Additionally, Marvel looks like they are following DC's tail in terms of big stories (and not in the complimentary way ). I don't want to go too much into this so I'll ask the question: Does Marvel like it's characters or are they just movie projects in the making; additionally what do you wish Marvel would do with its titles?
(Now this, this was done out of love)

DC likes their characters? Blue Beetle, Phantom Lady, Human Bomb, and Robin IV would say differently.

And those are just the characters I can name off the top of my head.

So would Sue Dibney and Jean Loring.

Uh oh, now you've done it. You criticized Bendis. Better get behind some fortifications before the Bendis groupies attack en masse.

I don't hate Bendis, in fact I really like some of his stuff like Powers. I just don't think he's done anything very original, good, or interesting on his high profile stuff.

While their "gimmicks" has been capturing at least for a while my attention , even if so far quite underwhelmed by the events . I dont believe that DC is really doing anything different that Marvel . If anything i even believe the DCU has been quite close to the MU lately ...
Anyway the main difference imo will be what writers , artist and heroes you enjoy the most .
My fav heroes and villains are still at Marvel . i grew to enjoy a few others , outside of the "batmanverse" , but i still pretty much dislike the same ones i used to dislike (like Superman) , especially after their jerky attitudes in Infinite crisis , and still dont care about the lot of characters i didnt use to care about :D

...lack Panther...

Lack Panther is a great nickname for Hudlin's version of T'challa.
