I've been away for a while so I'm sorry if this has already been posted and I missed it. But I hadn't seen it yet.

Cover for the next Hellboy novel (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/images/1416507833/ref=dp_image_0/002-5315748-6134446?%5Fencoding=UTF8&n=283155&s=books)

(From Amazon (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/1416507833/qid=1137444315/sr=1-17/ref=sr_1_17/002-5315748-6134446?s=books&v=glance&n=283155) )

I've never read anything by Tim Lebbon before. He's got a lot to live up to based on Brian Hodge's first novel in the series though! I do hope we see another one by Hodge down the road. Still, I'll give Lebbon the benefit of the doubt and I'm certainly looking forward to this one. Cover doesn't grab me as much as On Earth As It Is In Hell but... isn't there an adage or something about that?

My favorite Mignola cover ever! I got a chance to see a sneak peak of this cover at SDCC and have been fiending for a larger scan of my very own since. :)

IMO Mignola has absolutely NO contemporaries in comics today who draw better creatures and animals than he does. Mike can take even the most pedestrian looking animal and done in his style, make it look like you've never seen it before (in a good way).

I agree that the animals are cool, especially the crocodile! And I'd LOVE to see the cover without the logo. But the whole thing just doesn't pull me in as much as the arcane symbols on the front of On Earth As It Is In Hell. That cover really captured the essence of Hellboy for me. Still, beautiful creatures here.

And I do like that this book mentions Mike Mignola on the cover. I don't think the last one did, did it?

I think you're right. It really oughta say "Mike Mignola's" atop the Hellboy title. But maybe that might be confusing? The new type above this new book is, design-wise, not as pretty.

Anyway....great cover!

Personally, I like this cover better than On Earth As It Is In Hell.

Exquisite (Rick did I spell that one right?). I really like Mignola's, I shouldnt say 'new' style of Hellboy. But the way he's been drawing HB as of late. This one is top notch.

Nice. Not among my faves, but still beautiful. Can't wait to read it!

I agree about the animals. I think part of the way he makes them 'his' so skillfully is, paradoxically enough, by paying a remarkable amount of attention to what such animals actually look like. Making them uniquely his by making them realistic. (Well, that's only part of it.)

Anyway, I quite like his pterodactyl. As you can see.
