I'm just getting back into comics after a long lay off and anyways I was wondering what would be the most cost effecient way to get back into the x-books? I've been reading alot on uncannyxmen.net and it has been a great help.

Should I just start reading the monthly series or should I get the recent tpb's ?

On ebay I saw a cd-rom for sale that had like all the issues of X-treme X-Men on it, are the cd-roms a good deal? Was X-treme X-men even considred a good series?

Thanks for all the help.

Really, your best bet would be to pick up some recent trades to see what you like. Or even read them on the shelf at Borders or something. While I'm personally a bigger fan of Uncanny, you might want to start with the trades for Astonishing X-Men (as there's less baggage involved with the series).

And there are a number of new series that you could easily track down the first issues...such as New Excalibur and X-Factor.

Otherwise, check out the Click Here If You Are New to the X-Men and Want to Know What Books to Pick Up (http://forums.comicbookresources.com/showthread.php?t=49690) thread at the top of the forum.

I'll save you money.

Juggernaut is a good guy and X-man now for no real good reason. Other than than that nothing really has changed. You might hear about depowering caused by an "event" called House of M where all but 198 mutants worldwide lost their powers but you needn't worry much. Curiously all the major mutants in the X-men were amongst these 198 (even Vegas would have lost their shirts on this given the millions of mutants there were before).

Oh yeah, Jean is dead. Again. She was Phoenix. Again. She died. Again. She'll be back eventually. Again.

Emma Frost hooked up with Cyclops after a hot'n'bothered telepathic affair. They're co-headmasters of Xavier's school and this bugs the Holy Hell out of numerous X-characters AND fans. :evilsmile

I actually have not picked up anything yet and I'm in the same boat. I just took a trip to Wikiencyelopedia (sp?) and got a lot of info out of all that. In the end I caught up on basically everything Marvel that I was out of the loop for. Even decided what titles I will be picking up this month.
