Feel free to point out any candidates that can kill or injure, by paralyzing, superman in a one on one, close combat match, no exploiting of weakness. Just an all out slobberknocker or smash and bash sort of thing. Any candidates from any Universe (DCU, Marvel, Image etc.). You may also include anime or manga characters if you think they are able to. :evilsmile Doomsday is one of those who can do it. How about your views an opinions on who else can do it. Thanks and enjoy the discussion. :) :) :)

Let him get pissed off enough, and the Hulk could eventually overpower Superman.
Black Adam or Captain Marvel could match him physically. Even without the lightning, I'd say they could stand toe-to-toe with him.

This should be in Rumbles...but I'm not sure they want it either. Judging from the past Superman vs. the world threads there.
I'd say Black Adam is 6/10 over Superman.
There are tons of Anima/manga character that can handle Kal-El in combat. There's too many to type out. *Resists urge to type Kakkarot*
Superman is nowhere near the end all be all. Gladiator would kick current Superman's ass.

Someone who could shrink. Someone made of Kryptonite or with certain kinds of magic. Another Kryptonian. Someone with a red sun ray.
I'm not sure I WANT the list any bigger than that.

Dr. Fate (I guess), The Spectre, Phantom Stranger, Silver Surfer...
Physically, Glads, Odin-powered Thor... There aren't many who can overpower Big Blue, physically, unless we're talking about really god-like beings. As for our good ol' friends Son Goku/Gohan, etc... I doubt it. But that's just me.

Well, there's an anime magical-girl-type character that stands a chance against Superman one-on-one.
Moldiver (from the series of the same name) has: movement up to lightspeed, flight, unknown upper-level invulnerabillity, and probably similiar super strength. Her abilities is due to a technological device that sticks her in an alternate dimension, with complete control over the inertia of the bridging "suit". In simpler terms, she wears a pocket dimension in the shape and appearance of a costume over herself. Since she can determine her own inertia, she can move or not move as much as she wants, with as much force as she wants.
She might not be able to take out Superman, but she has the speed, strength, and durability to stalemate him for her 11 minutes 6 seconds transformation time.

As much as I love Supes, in my own fantasy DC where everything is as it should be ;) , Clark would naturally be over-powered by these guys.

Is that anime any good? Is it new or from the 80's?

Yep, but when it comes down to fisticuffs, there's no magic involved.

If Meltzer's writing it, then Deathstroke certainly can.

Maybe in your fantasy DC universe, but not in my fantasy DC universe. Remember, I'm referring to my DC Fantasy Universe here.
Actually, I don't know if there would be a Captain Marvel or a Black Adam in my DC Fantasy Universe since in my DC Fantasy Universe there would be no Superman clones hence no Captain Marvel clones so hence no Captain Marvel or Black Adam, even though I'm really diggin' on that Black Adam lately. :)
Go read Infinite Crisis #3, Puppet Guy!

There are too many Superman clones in DCU to take out...unless of course you don't want a DCU universe of course.
Wonder Woman, Martian Manhunter, etc.

Late 80s, early 90s. I liked it, since they occasionally remembered to apply physics for the situation. That and it doesn't take itself too seriously, so its a good pop-candy series.
Physics example: Moldiver is running after a rocket-driven car, and the force of her feet that she is applying on the raised track is basically flipping/wrecking the sections of concrete (good four-lane highway heavy bridge concrete looking things) into the air.

Now you're on to something, though Wonder Woman stripped down (heh) to her essential form is not a Supes clone, but Manhunter definitely is ... he's got to go.

Well, since Superman is supposed to be the mightiest man in the universe, the list of people that can knock him around - without resorting to using his vulnerabilities like Kryptonite or Magic - is bound to be very short.
The most obvious answer is Faora, THE single most dangerous of all the Phantom Zoners. She masters Horu-Kanu so completely that she was able to murder 23 men at once, and further, she was so dangerous that the police wouldn't dare meet her on the ground, and instead downed her with a tranquilizer dart from the air. And this was on KRYPTON!
One answer is Validus, who is said to be "power personified," with the lightning bolts from his head able to destroy entire cities. In the first part of Jim Shooter's Sun Eater saga, Superboy doubted that he could take Validus. And further, during the "Fight for the Championship of the Universe" story, Validus physically overpowered Superboy to the point where he was squeezing the life out of him.
Other candidates might be some of the beastly Kryptonians; for instance, the Flame Dragon of Krypton and King Krypton, a scientist from Krypton whose brain was placed in a Kryptonian gorilla.
Vartox may be able to defeat Superman in a hand-to-hand fight, although this is in the category of "maybe" or "very likely." Vartox has a variety of telepathic "Hyper-Powers" as well as the ability to create objects out of psionic force, in addition to many of Superman's own abilities.

Don't laugh (OK, go ahead) but Captain America would find a way to use Superman's strength against him through sheer tactical and fighting skills. Kurt Busiek had them charging at each other like equals, shrugging off their respective teammates' attempts to keep them apart, in his JLA/Avengers epic.

Faora's basically Lady Shiva with Kryptonian powers.
There was a Pre-Crisis story in which Superman encountered some beasties from a planet that was even larger and had heavier gravity than Krypton, and with a bigger red sun. They had super-powers on Earth that were greater than Superman's.
I vaguely remember Lana Lang, when she had the Insect Queen ring, transforming into some giant Kryptonian wasp or something and owning Superboy.
Parasite, of course, was able to steal Superman's own strength and beat the snot out of him with it.

Darkseid should still be using phrases like "Don't touch me weak boy" as he laughs off Supes best efforts.

Martian Manhunter doesn't necessarily have to be. One could just play up his detective aspects more and focus on the powers that he has that Superman doesn't. As I understand it, he wasn't such a Superman clone before he started to appear in JLA, anyway.

Kurt Busiek had them charging at each other like equals, shrugging off their respective teammates' attempts to keep them apart, in his JLA/Avengers epic. It's funny because it's true. Or at least, it's funny because there's a 99.9 per cent chance that's how a comics writer would depict a fight between those two characters.
