ok iv missed a few new episodes of smallville and now i have no idea whats going on. since when was Jonathan running for senator? can someone fill me in on what has happened. the last episode i saw was the one where clark beats up and banishes brainiac. everything after is a blur to me PLEASE HELP

It was the episode guest starring Tom Wopat. Wopat's character has been a long time friend of Jonathan's and is Kansas' senator. Well in this episode, some scandals around the senator arise that Clark, Chloe, and Lois get mixed up in. In the end after the day is saved, the senator decides that he isn't the right person to represent Kansas anymore, and he tells his friend Jonathan that he is just the type of person the state needs. Jonathan thinks it over and decides he will run for senate to replace his old friends position.
