Yes superman is unique and Captain Marvel (Shazam) is not exactly like superman. But are there any more characters in the DC universe who is like superman with similar powers and abilities. Unlike in Marvel they have atleast 3 or 4, namely gladiator, supreme power hyperion and squadron supreme hyperion, and sentry. These characters have similar powers as that of superman and exist at the same time in the Marvel Universe if i am correct. Unlike in DC, are there any superheroes, no villains, who is like the man of steel? If you know anybody pls free to reply. Thanks very much. :D :D :D

Superboy, Supergirl, Power Girl, Ultra Man are all Superman-esque.
Who else? Mon-El. Uh... Ultra Boy..
My brain is straining here.
I'm sure there are others...

I can add ...
Bizzarro, Ultra Man, Black Adam, E2 Superman, Future suprman (from DM/BM) The Eradicator, Mr Majestic (When he pops over). Cap Marvel Jr., General Zod.
Martian Manhunter (Too a certain degree).
Lobo? (He is kind of a twisted superman (Last of his kind an all)).
Captain Comet? Or not close enough for your liking.
Darkseid :)

There was Dev-Em, who was a "juvenile delinquent" from Krypton.
There was also Superman's ally/mentor/rival Vartox, who had "hyper-powers" equal to Superman's own, in addition to being able to psychokinetically create force walls and objects.
Martian Manhunter started out as a Superman clone that was bright green; he got a spy story in the 1960s HOUSE OF SECRETS as a backup, and whoever it was that gave him the beetle brow did this otherwise forgettable character a favor.
There also was Ultraa, who was the "Superman" of Earth-Prime, raised by Australian Aborigines.
Earth-S had a lot of Superman level members of the Marvel Family, including Fat Marvel (from Brooklyn), Tall Marvel (from Texas) and the radioactively politically incorrect Hillbilly Marvel, in addition to Hoppy the Marvel Bunny, Mary Marvel, and Captain Marvel Jr. There was also super-foe Black Adam, exiled to "the most distant star in the universe" until his return.
Somebody else mentioned all of the Superman-esque individuals with powers seen in Legion of Super-Heroes, such as Ultra Boy (who could only use one at a time) and Mon-El.
There also are the Phantom Zone criminals: Faora, General Zod, Quex-Ul, Superman's own cousin Cru-El, and that white gorilla with the horn on his forehead whose name escapes me at the moment. There was also the aged scientist who sought to destroy Krypton when he learned he was doomed to die.
There also was a pair of additional Kryptonians, the Flame Dragon (a Kryptonian monster that was even more powerful on Krypton) and King Krypton, a gorilla with the brain of a Kryptonian scientist. Not to mention Kandor's Superman Emergency Squad.
I don't know if you want to count Amazo, who CAN at least, duplicate Superman's powers.
More coming, as I think of them.

Let's not forget Van-Zee, Superman's cousin from Kandor, who was his exact double and sometimes impersonated him. Then there was Hyperman, I can't remember the planet he lived on, (Terra? Some kind of Earth-analogue) but he was also an exact double of Supes with identical powers and a purple costume. And of course, Kell Orr, from the planet Xenon, "The World That Was Krypton's Twin". http://supermanica.info/wiki/index.php/Kell_Orr
J'onn J'onzz didn't exactly start as a Superman knockoff. He first appeared as a backup in Detective Comics in 1955, Originally he was quite different from Superman, played for "eerie alien type", with emphasis on his powers of invisibility, intangibility, and mindreading. But he was one of those characters who could pretty much pull any power the plot required out of his butt; so he displayed super-strength or levitation or x-ray vision as needed, and sort of evolved into a green Superman by the time he joined the JLA in the early sixties.
And he actually started out with the beetle brow. It faded away by the sixties (especially as drawn by Mike Sekowsky) but was thankfully brought back years later, along with some of his "creepy alien-ness".
J'onn's appearance is sometimes cited as the true beginning of the Silver Age, predating the Barry Allen Flash by a year.

Good point about those two. Hyperman was from a planet called Oceania (odd, as it wasn't really a water planet; maybe they're making a point that since water covers 3/4ths of the planet's surface we ought to name it after THAT instead of dirt).
The Van-Zee impersonations really started after Schwartz had the Super-Robots, who usually did this job, go haywire because of pollution. Though as he spends most of his time as a powerless Kandorian, it seems odd to think of him at Superman level. There was also Van-Zee's wife, Sylvia, who was the only Earthling in Kandor, given superpowers by a serum.

Interesting, although John Broome's creation, Captain Comet (the first true new Superhero of the 1950s, arguably) had them BOTH beat, showing up in 1951.

How is he an insult to Superman?
He has a cape and wears yellow. And he has head problems that would make Joker look sane. There are plenty of things different about them.
He may have the same model but they are nowhere near the same character.

He;s an insult to superman because he's only been in a few comics and is pretty new and he is more interesting than superman, writers at dc's fault for not making the original interesting enough.
