The New Doctor Who series set to air on The Sci-Fi Channel (http://www.bbc.co.uk/doctorwho/scifi.shtml)

And The Sci-Fi Channel has official cemented itself as my favorite channel.

Hopefully they'll show the second season without a long delay.

So? They're not Shakespeare, but they're generally pretty entertaining shows, especially when Browder, Black and Shanks get to play off each other.

Yeah, Stargate Rocks.

And really "Stargate Network" isn't exactly accurate anymore.

Because we've got Dr. Who and Battlestar.

I hope this new Dr. Who is good. I've only seen a tiny little bit of the old one (which seemed ok, but not great) and I did see the FOX tv Dr. Who movie (which I liked), so here's hoping the new one is good. Especially since this will be coming on, most likely, around the time the Stargates and Battlestar go off. I would definitly like to have a cool new sci-fi show to watch! I'll keep my fingers crossed. :)

I'll definitly check this out though. Hopefully we'll start seeing some previews for it soon.

" They should start airing some previews in Feb hopefully."

Season 1 of the new Doctor Who is good. It's really, really good.

It's my understanding (and I could be misremembering) that Sci-Fi initially passed on Doctor Who because they tried to bundle the rights to the original series. Sci-Fi didn't want to buy the entire show at once.

Looking at the article above, they only mention that Season 1 has been bought alongside the option to buy Season 2. I'd love to see the original series, too.

And the dvd set has been pushed back from February to July. Ouch.

While I'm glad the new shows will be airing in the U.S. (although I've already watched most of them on CBC myself), I'm bothered a bit by the niche that the show will be put in. If it was being aired on CBS or ABC or NBC, it might have more of a chance of becoming a mainstream favorite in America, instead of being confined to the sci-fi audience.

But knowing NBC, they would air episodes out of order like they did for Star Trek and Earth 2.

It also would have likely been quickly cancelled off of a major broadcast network.

Gonna have to agree. A major network looks faster at a bottom line than a Cable network. Sci-Fi will more than likely grab a series and let it develope because thier in that market. ;)
