Who's Your Fave member of Clan Guthrie

So, I feel like talking about clan Guthrie. Who's your favorite and why?

Personally I like Sam. He's got a good heart and is always ready to do what's right. Not to mention he can fly around like a crazy person and is nigh invincible in that form

Gotta go with my man Jay, aka Josh Guthrie. I liked what Chuck Austen did with him, he was a fun and interesting 'new character'. Shame that he got his wings cut off by someone. :(

I think Sam is a great, great character. He's got a good heart and is a stand-up guy. I love how we've gotten to see him grow in his abilities and character.

And for all the Lila hate around here, I love their relationship.

Yeah, I agree, I didn't expect her to be that close to Sam in the polls. While she is a good character (sometimes) I think her powers are just a little creepy, and she's just not as charismatic as Sam.

It's also good to see that Aero (Melody) actually has some fans.

Well, she is second in number of appearances. Other than her, same, and Josh, the rest are fairly blank slates.

I don't know why, but I really like Melody. Even though she's had very little panel time, I find her to be one of the most interesting Guthries.

I picked Jay, because he has an interesting personality, loads of potential as a character if the writers chose to or were allowed to exploit that, and a cool visual look. But I love Sam and Paige, as well. It's hard to pick.

This was a hard poll for me as Clan Guthrie is my favorite family in comics. I love them all, but Jay just barely edged out Sam for the top spot. I am fascinated by Jay for some reason. My order of preference is as such:

Even though I voted for Sam, I also like Lucinda (not more than Paige and Jay, but she deserves recognition)

I thought Lucinda was one of the few things done well in the She Lies with Angels arc. She was so strong-willed and powerful. I couldn't help but be awed by the way she tried to look after her family.

I have to admit to always really liking Paige
the opening sequence of gen x #1... her jogging and the conversation with jubilee... that cemented it for me

Sam. Not just because we share the same name either. lol. I just probably like him the best, because he's had the most exposure and characterization over the years. Most of the Guthries, with the exception of Paige and Jay are mostly background fillers. But that could always change.....

<<due to Cannonball Week I've decided it's time to resurface this thread>>
(a few of us have already voted, but even so...everyone feel free to share their opinion)

Now, at first glance seems the choice is supereasy. Sam rocks. He's a good heart. In the situations the X-Men find themselves in I see myself making similar decisions to Sam's, so he's relatable for me (plus, he's tight with his family). Pair that with an awesome power (just how invulnerable is he? Eternal??), excellent visual design, & the fact he's one of the more easy going X-Men on the team & you have a character I'm going to like. Over the past few months the character has climbed the charts for title of favorite X-Men (due to Mike "kickass" Carey). I even like his creepy (un)finished relationship with Serafina.

..but then I remember Paige & the fun times shared in Gen X & some brief issue of X-Men. I liked that her one main goal was to become an X-Man, & hey, she did. I liked her, but I never really knew the character enough for her to out-rank Sam. I loosely followed Gen X (ah...very loosely).

But...there's also Jay who's down-to-earth, mellow, open, dislikes shallow people & seems like one of the most accessible characters out of the (former) New X-Men cast (for me). Too bad he's dead. I liked him. Again, not enough to out-rank Sam. Paige...perhaps...


So...that's my rundown on the top three Guthrie's. Sam, Jay & Paige.

Okay, melonhead, which "Lucinda" does it for you? Seriously, could the editors, research & creative team not keep things straight? They changed Pa Guthrie's name a few times & well you can see what happened with Ma...

Oh, interesting to not the old haggard version on the right is the youngest/earliest chron. appearance of Ma Guthrie, while the vampiric dark-haired lesbian look (the second in from the left) is the most recent.

I prefer 1 or 3. Those at least look like the same person & more so resemble Sam, Paige & Josh. If I imagine Ma Guthrie I picture version one, due to my main exposure of her coming from (the latter numbered) X-Force.

This was sooo tough! While I loved X-Force, Gen. X was the book for me growing up, and since I don't count Austen's Husk as actually being her, I'm going to say Husk ftw! But Sam, and then Jay is a close second.

Husk, by far. Although i do love sam too.

But Paige and i are very similar in a lot of ways, even so far as having nearly identical backgrounds (minus the powers and all that)...so she gets a lot of love from me because we share a lot of the same hang-ups (distancing ourselves from our Appalachian roots for no good reason, disastrous relationships with much older men....).

I love Paige and her powers are good fun.

I voted for Sam, but that's faint praise. I think Husk and Icarus are both pretty lame, and the other Guthries just haven't had enough develop to really be contenders. I do like the ever-changing Lucinda, though.

I liked Melody - quiet, nice. She just liked to fly. Got depowered but at least she didn't die, like Jay. His death still didn't feel right to me.

But I think he just missed Julia Cabot A LOT. :(
