If YOU could choose the writer/artist teams to work on the Superman books, who would they be?
I'm going to just limit myself to those creators still with us..
*Superman: Alan Moore and Neal Adams
*Action Comics: Marv Wolfman and George Perez
*Superman/Batman: Roger Stern and Jose Luis Garcia Lopez
*Supergirl: Gail Simone and Phil Jiminez
I'd get Alex Ross to do painted covers for all of the books!
Then I'd get Elliot S! Maggin and Cary Bates to co-edit the books! ;)
What are your choices?

Oooh, good thread idea.
Here's MY Superman Dream-Team:
Superman Editor: Elliot S! Maggin
Elliot S! Maggin, better than anybody else, knows who Superman is. In a position of editorship where he can say yea or nay to any idea that pops along, he is the perfect choice. "Yeah, that sounds appropriate for Superman," or not.
SUPERMAN
Writer: Alan Brennert
If he only got more work, this Emmy award winning writer would make us all say about Alan Moore, "hey, Alan who?"
I mean, for crying out loud, the guy has six or seven Batman stories under his belt and two of them are in GREATEST BATMAN STORIES EVER TOLD. Ditto for his amazing heartfelt Christmas special featuring Boston Brand Deadman and Kara Zor-El. Alan Brennert is an old-school comics fan; he had letters published in JUSTICE LEAGUE OF AMERICA when he was just a kid, for crying out loud. There is extensive precident for writers who are first letterhacks: Kurt Busiek and Gerry Conway spring immediately to mind.
Artist: Steve Rude "The Dude"
Rude the Dude's amazing art combines the power-packed lines of Kirby with the clean correct inks, and the wholesome as apple pie women and the handsome, clean-cut men of Sprause.
And his painted covers, the ones he did for NEXUS when he worked with Baron - tres magnifique.
SUPERGIRL
Writer: Kurt Busiek
Who can save Supergirl now? KURT BUSIEK!
While Kurt Busiek is the greatest talent of our generation, he is better suited to SUPERGIRL, which is a title that has historically had emphasis on magic, fantasy, and charm, all of which are strengths of Mr. Silver Age - just look at his ARROWSMITH. And with somebody as encyclopedaically familiar with the Classic Super-Mythos, you'd better believe Busiek would use everybody from Lena Thorol to Comet the Superhorse!
Artist: Rick Veitch
The worst artist you can possibly get for Supergirl is a "good girl" artist like Mike Turner or Frank Cho. Rick Veitch can do a wholesome style and certainly will make us all love Supergirl because of her bubbly personality, not because she's a sex object.
SUPERMAN/BATMAN
Writer: Steve Englehart
I feel bad going immediately for my hero, Stainless Steve, because I think he's great for EVERYTHING, so it's almost like cheating. But the problem with BATMAN/SUPERMAN as a title is, if you get a "Batman" guy, you get "Batman" stories, and if you get a "Superman" writer, you get Superman stories. Steve Englehart is the most flexible writer available - he can do cosmic big time Jim Starlin-type stuff with COYOTE and "Celestial Madonna," and he can also do...well, the definitive run on BATMAN
Artist: Jerry Ordway
This one speaks for itself. I would suggest Jim Aparo - he drew a great, macho Superman in BATMAN AND THE OUTSIDERS...but he has unfortunately passed on. Also a good choice: Chuck Wojkiewcz from the IMPACT! Comics' JAGUAR.

I had a wishlist of Superman writers once.
It largely consisted of Grant Morrison, Mark Millar and Jeph Loeb.
It turned out I was right on target with two of those. Loeb dissappointed me massively though

Indeed.
Loeb disappointed big time with the pathetic and often overrated Supergirl arc in S/B. However, I found his previous arc highly enjoyable.
Ok, so my dream team would consist of any of the following, in any of the books (Superman, Action Comics, Adventures Of Superman, Superman/Batman).
Writer: Alan Moore, Grant Morrison, Kurt Busiek, Mark Waid (still waiting for him to write more Superman, as he said), Brian Azzarello, Dan Jurgens, Roger Stern, Marv Wolfman. Hell, I'd like the Superman 2000 project to be greenlighted, with Morrison, Waid, Millar and Peyer.
Artist: Jim Lee, Dan Jurgens, George Pérez, José Luis García López, Ethan Van Sciver, Lee Bermejo, Jon Bogdanove, Neal Adams, Jackson Guice, Jerry Ordway, Walt Simonson, Ed Benes, the Kuberts, Phil Jimenez.
Alex Ross and Jim Lee on the covers, although any of the mentioned above would be great for the task.
And like Julian said, I'd suggest Jim Aparo, but he passed away.

Ah, Adam Hughes. That's the one. I was thinking about him before posting my wishlist, but I couldn't remember his name, so I left it as is.
