ok so i loved the first issue of allstar superman. so i was in a comic store a few days ago and i saw the variant edition and so i bought it for 20$(canadian) so i bought allstar superman 1 variant edition for 20$ canadian. i think it was worth it but did i get ripped off??

If it was worth it to you, then no, you didn't get jacked. If you only got it for possible resale value, then only time will tell if you got jacked.

Well... you got a mediocre book (which you loved so bonus there I guess) and some Neal Adams art (ALWAYS a plus!)

The thing with variants is they rarely if ever hold their value.

If YOU thik it was a good purchase and YOU think it was worth $20 then yes you did fine.

The fact you are asking though leads me to believe you may not think so.

Pesonally I think anyone who pays over the odds for a comic because it has a variant cover is being ripped off

I didn't know there was a variant cover until a few weeks after the book came out... My store had a bunch of copies and I'm a GIANT Neal Adams fan but...

Yuck! I thought it was ugly and had little or NO resemblance to the Neal Adams look that use to be able to get me to buy ANY comic with his art on the cover...
