you know, ever since i moved to finland i have been unable to flip thru crappy comics and NOT buy them, i now rely on mail order to fulfill my comic book needs, now im prone to buying utter crap like SG 1-3.
ever since i was a kid i always hated issues where the writer came up with some lame excuse to have the main character fight another hero, it rarely ever works, and it's a tired and weak concept.
well what do i get, issue one PG & SG beatdown, issue 2 SG and SB beatdown followed by TT and SG beatdown.
then i get the outsiders dyke brigade and SG slugfest.
Loeb sucks!
when am I gonna get an interesting SG title, when!!!!!

He'll be off the book after #5 if that makes you feel better.
I'm enjoying it but I'm also anxious to see what Rucka brings to the table with #6 when she starts setting down roots.

thank god fer that, Loeb has really gone down hill, not that i was a huge fan but i will admit i liked "superman for all seasons" and "long halloween", but thats it. the guy is a hack who struck gold twice, everything else ive read by him just frickin sucks.

What "dyke brigade??" Why wasn't I told about this? Yeah, Supergirl #1-3 isn't worth lining a birdcage with. Ok, she's stronger than every friggin' hero in the DCU, can we move on now? I'm not gonna buy this shite when Rucka takes over, either.

I don't hate Supergirl, it's a decent series. I don't know how long I'm going to stay with it though. We can't expect everything from a good writer to be a masterpiece.

I hate the character the he writes her.
Loeb gives me, the reader, no reason to care if the chick lives or dies.

Spider-Man Blue, Hulk Grey, Daredevil Yellow, the Halloween specials with Scarecrow.
He's more than an adequate writer... and his son Sam was dying while he was writing this stuff... I doubt he had his A game on.

My question is, "Why was she brought back again?" I thought CoIE was supposed to simplify the DC Universe. It looks to me like they are trying to make it convoluted again. And, if she must be brought back, can't they give her a better costume. I preferred the shorts, as depicted by Alex Ross, to the skirt that always magically covers the nether region.

Kara to Batman: "Try that bogeyman stuff with somebody else. I can hear your heart beat from forty yards off...
If you had a heart..."
i got a question, SG's been in the DCU for a hot minute right? (at least a few months)
so why is she written as a person who is already well aclimated to living on earth, she seems to know a lot of the pop culture and practices of a girl who grew up here, she really isn't written as a stranger in a strange land (which i thought she was supposed to be)
do i pin this crap on loeb or is it DC editorial??
He'll be off the book after #5 if that makes you feel better.
and he is gonna get his grubby lil hack fingers on a book i really enjoy, ultimates. already he said he wants to make em more "superheroish" and distance them from the political and edgy storylines of millar.
whats the point of the ultimate line if their gonna just carbon copy the 616 universe?? (i know this is not exactly on topic, but he makes me really mad)
He's more than an adequate writer... and his son Sam was dying while he was writing this stuff... I doubt he had his A game on.
My ire with loeb is stricly on a creative level, otherwise, my heart goes out to him, that is a horrible thing to go thru, no parent should outlive their child.
with that said, is work on SM BM, SG and his upcoming plans for ultimates leave me no choice but to drop the books (didnt buy his SM BM books anyway, and ill wait for the buzz on rucka's run befor i start buying SG again) and thats a shame, ultimates was one of my fav books, but looking at the char designs and reading loebs plans, im gonna drop it.

Wrong. Loeb leaves the book after issue #6. It's a six-issue arc, so that DC can later issue an overpriced TPB of this overhyped mess.

Yea, I fear his Ultimates run to. I like that series... and now it's gonna suck.

Frankly, Loeb hasn't been a good writer in SEVERAL YEARS now. Not even 'the Sam excuse' can cover up for the poorly-plotted comics hacking he's been phoning in lately, while he cozies up to the producers of LOST for yet another cushy 'consultant' job.

I quite enjoyed the first three issues that I picked up.
Sure, its not going to float everyones boat, but I've seen far, far worse in my comic reading years.

I gotta say, sometimes I love Loeb's bubblegum pop comics for the sheer giddy fun of them, despite the fact that they make no sense whatsoever most of the time.
But his Supergirl has been a disaster thus far. Three issues of Supergirl smacking the crap out of a series of gratuitous guest-stars is just not gonna cut it anymore. The Image Era is over for a reason.

I think vol.3 Supergirl(s) was better than this version, they should have keep that going instead.
And that stuff that she is more powerful than Superman beacuse she had a yellow sun lamp in her space roket, They have never showed before that superman/girl/whatever can store their power for long periods, we have seen many times that they lose there power relativly quick when they don't have a yellow sun.
Stupid idea, don't the wrters read older comics about the subject they writing?

Actually, that's been inconsistant.
Superman's maximum capacity seems to be rising. The sun once scorched him but it now energizes him until he exhausts all the energy he's absorbed. And DC1M had a godlike Superman who absorbed (and retained) centuries worth of charge.

So they want it to be that the sun have shined on Supergirl day and night for 30 years or something and only on the days on Superman?
Anyway i wonder how the father knew that yellow sunlight gave superpowers and that the longer it shine on the girl the maximum powerlimit rise, it's stupid.

I'm enjoying Supergirl, as well as Superman/Batman. I find 'em to be fun comics, and I'm getting my money's worth out of 'em.

Well, I hope you like that they're ALWAYS BEHIND SCHEDULE as well, since that's continuing. SUPERGIRL #4 just recently got delayed again FOR THE THIRD TIME (now it's coming out in February....maybe). :D

Not with the right story. Here's my scenario:
Darkseid surveys events from Apokalips, which is beyond conventional time and space. He is disgusted with Superman. And so he devises a scheme to destroy him.
Darkseid contacts Zor-El and promises to give him the technology for his daughter to survive the planet's destruction for a price. Kara is to be his female fury. Naturally, the ship Darkseid provides Zor-El with is designed with yellow sunlamps, unlimited radiation shielding and enough thrust to move a continent at lightspeed. The ship's properties are because Darkseid supplied it. The sunlamps are so that Kara will be a powerful warrior.
Zor-El betrays Darkseid by contacting Jor-El and getting the correct coordinates for Kal's ship instead of sending her to Apokalips. He programs Kara's ship to follow Kal... But Darkseid engages the docking clamps in retaliation. The ship never launches but carries the K-asteroid towards earth with its thrust.
However, the twist is that Kara has been implanted with a second, darker personality by Darkseid as a failsafe. When Darkseid captured her in the Supergirl arc, he didn't have to program her; she was pre-programmed.
Now the Black K has unleashed that inner darkness that Darkseid implanted in Kara as part of his deal with Zor-El.
This also accounts for how Darkseid was able to warn Luthor of the meteor coming for earth in the first arc.

So now you're saying that she's more bimbo robot than bimbo teenager? And this is supposed to account for the fact that Loeb has so far given his 'new' Supergirl NO PERSONALITY at all?

Can I join, too!?! After what she did to the Outsiders, Teen Titans, and my favorite female DC character (Power Girl), she had better become an interesting character, or she should die.
(Harsh, wasn't it?)

I seriously disliked this new Supergirl from the beginning. So badly written...
That being said, I do think there is a way to salvage her character: make her a villain. Have her cross the line completely, maybe by killing someone (like Hal Jordan... :D ) She enjoys it so much she embraces the dark side and becomes on of Superman's greatest nemeses--someone who shares his powers and origin but is the complete opposite morally. It would almost make sense of her character up util now.
But it'll never happen...

In essence, Loeb merely re-introduced Cir-El, and made her blonde this time around. What an improvement.

I guess that depends on who you ask.
Kara Zor-El is just plain boring under Loeb's pen...plus Benes draws her much better,

I like your version, she's going evil and kills Hal Jordan, i will buy all issues.
They can bring Jordan Back too life again and then she kills him again.
