Florida Approves Ambriz. Showtime: "Yes!!" Strikeforce "Oh COME ON!!" (http://mmajunkie.com/news/17588/florida-commission-approves-bobby-lashley-vs-jimmy-ambriz-but-bout-questionable.mma?utm_source=feedburner&utm_medium=feed&utm_campaign=Feed%3A+mmajunkie+%28MMAjunkie.com+Fe ed%29&utm_content=Google+Reader)

The Florida State Boxing Commission officially has approved veteran fighter Jimmy Ambriz as an opponent for Bobby Lashley, MMAjunkie.com (www.mmajunkie.com) has confirmed with a commission official.

The Lashley (4-0 MMA, 0-0 SF) vs. Ambriz (14-12-1 MMA, 0-0 SF) fight has been targeted for the Showtime-televised main card of the Jan. 30 "Strikeforce: Miami" event.

However, the fight currently is not signed, and sources close to the event today told MMAjunkie.com that Strikeforce officials may be exploring other options for Lashley.

Lashley's bout is the only one not official for the upcoming card, which takes place at the BankAtlantic Center in Sunrise, Fla., with title fights of Nick Diaz vs. Marius Zaromskis (for the vacant welterweight title) and female champ Cristiane "Cyborg" Santos vs. Marloes Coenen. Strikeforce's initial choice for Lashley, Yohan Banks (2-1 MMA, 2-0 SF), did not garner approval from the commission earlier this week.

That opened the door for nine-year vet Ambriz, who's competed around the world for organizations such as WEC, DREAM, K-1, Pancrase, King of the Cage and Rage in the Cage against notables such as Josh Barnett, Sergei Kharitonov, Jeff Monson, Ricco Rodriguez and Chris Tuchscherer, among others.

What's he been doing since PRIDE folded anyway? Record shows just 1 fight?

Still will be awesome to see him in the UFC.

Last I heard, working with the government building a fight commission and getting tight with people for the Rio Olympics.

Brock Lesnar is on ESPN right now, bashing the CHS and annoucing that he'll be fighting the winner of Mir/Carwin in Boston this summer.

Does he look noticeably smaller or not?

Smaller than he looked in his last fight.

Smaller than he looked in his last fight.

oooohhh. No. He's I'd say a bit thinner then UFC levels. He says he needs to put on 10 pounds.

It'd never happen, but I would love for BJJ or vale tudo to be an Olympic event.

Hope he does get well soon.

And hope Nog gets a frigging title shot at some point.

Brock and Dana interview on ESPN

Something isn't adding up here.

Dana says Brock had surgery and might need another, now Brock says he has no surgery and he miraculously healed himself?

I'm seriously starting to think this whole thing was just one big WWE publicity stunt.

I don't recall Dana ever being the medical spokesperson for a fighter before.

I haven't bought into this whole Brock sickness, and I'm not going to buy into the oncoming talking head "it's a miracle he's fighting again".

Actually they said they were able to treat it with medication rather then go in and remove his colon, and had his colon been removed his career would have been over.
