Amazon has four Gus Beezer books listed for January at 21 bucks each, msp, I think.
They look to be reprints of the original four books I did for Marvel, but in "library" editions.
Anyone got any inside knowledge on these?

Barnes and Noble indicates that they will have it in stock Jan 26th.
Evidently, Spotlight Publications is offering a number of comics trades in hardback "library edition" format. Doesn't seem to have a website.
Even more interesting Amazon doesn't have any of their books in stock as they're all going to be released later this month.
All of the titles were Marvel titles.
So my speculation would be that Spotlight Publications is releasing a few Marvel trades so that libraries can purchase them, ergo the "library binding".

Does Marvel even talk to you anymore?
First they use Outlaw in an X book, now they reprint Gus, again...

I'm turned off by the name, Gus Beezer.

It appears that the Marvel titles are aimed toward young readers.
Marvel is a big company and it's possible that this was licensed and not handled by the publishing side of Marvel.
I've requested information from my 'man' at Marvel and will see what is returned...

Marvel in general doesn't keep creators informed of such things, but it's not intentional or malicious.

Read an exchange (maybe two months ago) at the Spider-Girl message board about a similar thing going on with Spider-Girl reprints that Tom DeFalco was completely in the dark about. (Same publisher, if my declining memory serves.)

I think it is a matter that the people who makes these decisions are not the same people who work with the talent. I know a couple of times when Quesada has been asking about one trade paperback or another and he said that he would have to ask somebody else as it wasn't his department.

Yeah, Joe Quesada always claims to have no idea what's going on with Marvel TPBs. I wonder whether that's true or whether he knows but doesn't think it's interesting enough to be worth talking about.

With at least 70 monthly titles plus future endeavors it's highly unlikely that anyone over at Marvel reads every single title month after month, year after year. DC (especially when one considers the other imprints) has even more titles.
Joe Q concentrates on pumping the big events and the major marketing moments.

I think I found the website of the publisher (it only talks about a magazine they publish though they mention doing general design work that might have something to do with your comics gail) I sent them a e-mail to ask if they had any info.

um, so sorry to ask, but in any case of reprinted work, wouldn't an agent for the writer have been contacted to deal with financial remuneration? or does it not work like that for comic books?

For something like Marvel or DC, unless it's under one of the imprints which allow it (Icon for Marvel, Wildstorm for DC, yes?) the company own the material and characters, not the writer or artist.
