Anyone know of a good mac program that can take a 1 or 2 second clip from a dvd movie and turn it into a animated gif or jpeg for use as a avatar?

http://imovieplugins.com/transhome.html - search for Clip Snapshot. It's free and it's an iMovie plugin. However, I have no idea if it will be compatible with your version of iMovie. Looks to be geared towards 3 and 4. Dunno about iMovie HD.
