I'm not kidding, here. If you're drinking tonight, and you drive, you'd better pray you don't survive because I'll come to your house and kick your ass every night for the rest of your life.
BE SAFE AND SMART.
I'm beggin.

Not drinking tonight. If I do, the only risk will be dropping my infant nephew on his head. :)

No need to worry Gail. The Police here and I'm sure at most places are stepping up patrols. They won't be easy...thats for damn sure.
They finally had an ad that makes sense.
" We want you to drink because well..we want money for writing you a ticket and theres plenty of room over the weekend for you. Yeahh go ahead...were not worried. The more drunk drivers the get the bigger the bonus we recieve."
I can't believe a cop said this on TV. ;)

I'm sure that the officer who said that would feel horrible if anyone even remotely related to him were to die due to a drunk driver.

All kidding aside a car is in the wrong a deadly weapon of capable of great destruction. Here you have an object that weights several thousand tons and can move at speeds past one hundred miles an hour. Every year many people are killed, paralyzed and otherwise maimed by a drunk driver.
If you don’t care about your fellow man than care for yourself. A lot of states remove your state of mind and intent when trying these murder cases so you have a lot of people in prison right now who otherwise wouldn’t people if they were responsible about their drinking.

I can't believe anyone could be stupid enought to drive while intoxicated.
I don't drink at all but you only need to pick up the newspapers at the festive season to see all the incidents caused by drink driving.
Just don't do it because the sight of Gail with Doc Martin steel toe-capped boots on at your door must be terrifying!
If you're going to be drinking, get a cab or a lift home from a non-drinker (as long as it isn't an axe murderer or J-Bolt) and be safe.
Have a great New Year, dudes and duderinhos.

Invariably the drunk driver is the one who lives through the accident. I read somewhere that it may have to do with the fact that the drunk driver is relaxed at the time of impact. Tensing of muscles somehow affects escapablility. Not sure how that works, though.

Ohh come on...how many times do we get the usual anti-drinking message from cops ? And how many times is it ignored or kids roll thier eyes. Here this guy was telling the truth. " Go ahead...but were gonna get ya. Then your gonna spend a few days in jail. Or pay us a lot ticket wise..."
I liked it. Odds are kids will think twice now.

Shock absorption due to being so relaxed.
I knew a bloke who fell out of a pick up truck doing 70 mph while paralytically drunk and came off with bruises and lacerations.
The doc said if he'd been sober, he would've broke bones and possibly been killed.

This story falls into the funny/not funny category. I was listening to the radio a few years ago and a story was reported that a drunk man was walking on train tracks and was hit by a train and killed. The announcer said, get this, "the driver of the train was not injured". Swear to God.

No worries, Gail. I don't drink, and I'm sure as hell not going to a party where there's drinking tonight if I can help it(frankly, I'm hoping to just go to bed upon getting off work tonight, but my ride may have other plans).

If I could be serious again in addition to staying sober while you drive be on the lookout for the drunks out there. If you see someone driving erratically please get the fuck out of the way, pull over and call the cops if you can. The cold hard truth is that people are going to die on the roads tonight, like they do every night, thanks to a drunk driver. I hate for it to happen to anyone here, including myself, because in the matter of a second anyone’s life can be irrevocably changed thanks to a normally good decent person that had no business behind the wheel.

Granted, I haven't seen the commercial, but talking about drunk driving like it's a casual, everyday circumstance won't help prevent it from becoming a casual, everyday circumstance.
Not suggesting a "Don't Drink/Smoke Marijuana" commercial ala Harold and Kumar, but there's gotta be a better way than simply winking at people about something they do that is so potentially harmful.

Ohh this wasn't a commercial. I should have made it clear. This was on our local news as Cops were talking about Holiday drinking. The one just said this because he gets tired of pulling kids over and warning them so much.
So he told them to drive at thier own risk and spend some time in jail. Theres more than enough room and hell they wanna write tickets because it makes thier bonus bigger. The local news people seemed to like it.

It's funny, and I can definitely see it getting some attention. Maybe it actually would work. Were it a commercial that's repeated constantly though, I think that the levity of the message would probably cause more harm than good.

Hell that's almost reason to do it!
Kidding.
I don't drink and drive, I did once in my ignorant youth (early 20's) and was lucky enough that nothing happened.
I'm probably not even going to be drinking tonight, so there, :p
The other thing though, if you're out tonight, even if you aren't drinking, be careful and be alert, many people are going to be on the roads tonight three sheets to the wind.

The party is at our place tonight, and we are providing a place to crash or a free ride to anyone who needs them
People drink and drive because they don't believe that they are impaired by drinking, or, in my father's words, "I drive better with a six pack in me than most people do sober." It's similar to adolescent invulnerability syndrome. They don't believe the bad thing will happen to them, no matter how dangerous the activity is.
And some know it's wrong, know they're impaired, know they're a danger, and just don't care.
Drunk drivers are scum, and a first offense should result in a license lost for a year and a month in jail.

Ah, there was no possible hope of drink-driving in Brisbane last night, at least from the City and Valley. They had so many cops stationed, there were 4 just standing in the corners of the McDonalds, watching everyone. If there was a hint of anyone getting ready to drive home while intoxicated they would just stop them and pile them into the nearest taxi.
There was, however, many a drunken brawl.

I have to go out tonite, because i start work at midnight. I also worked all day and only got a few hours sleep. I also do not drink,or drive while under the influence(even with cold/flu medication or prescription drugs, which CAN affect your driving ability). I hope everyone else takes a long look as how many people die every year on this day,due to the above and considers the risks.
Drive safe, drive defensely, drive smart. And enjoy the holiday.
