But best of all, the last day I was at work before Christmas I got a letter from the university saying I got a promotion and, even better, tenure. Now they can never get rid of me, mwah-ha-ha!!! (Imagine me twirling a moustache in a sinister fashion). Okay, of course they could get rid of me if they really wanted to, but it would be tough, and I would have to do something really, really bad to make it worth their while. :evilsmile

It may not sound like much, but anybody else here who works in academia, or knows anyone who works in academia, knows that for us this is a very big deal, so I'm beyond excited. Now maybe I can cut down on the time spent on publishing and presenting a little and rededicate my life to vegging in front of the TV, reading comics, and memorizing BoP dialogue. ;)

I bought myself the Alex Ross designed Black Canary figure and my family bought me beer and cigars ( how'd they know !? )

The best thing I got was the Muppet Show season 1 DVD boxed set, but technically that was an early birthday gift, not a christmas gift.

I also got a cool set of Jones sodas with a holiday theme. One tastes like cranberry sauce, another like turkey dinner, etc. What a crazy idea!

I also got the season 1 DVD boxed set of Batman: the animated series, the DVD of My Neighbors the Yamadas, the PS2 videogame Shadow of the Colossus, and the CD "Light & Magic" by Ladytron.

I also got some other stuff, but it wasn't as important. Of what I list, it was actually all on my Amazon.com wish-list (minus the sodas).
