Still trying, without success, to obtain one...

(why are all the retail stores releasing them on weekends? I've worked retail, and that ain't typical)

I might get one after a price drop, but for now I'm waiting on the PS3.

Me.

And the #$(&@%$ copped out after two days.

I'm currently sending it back to Microsoft for another.

Did it overheat? I know that been a recurring problem. Anyway I fell bad that your wife present to you is defective but thus far Microsoft is making good on its repairs so hopefully the problem will be fixed soon.

Edit: MAYBE it overheated. Kept it ventilated, was careful...but after two days, boom. Ironically, a blue screen (of death, but without the words...).

Yeah, Microsoft has been very cool about it. Quick to answer the phone (unlike Dell). Hopefully they won't screw up the transfer (again, unlike Dell...).

I'm willing to wait. My wife's all depressed about it, but I've assured her that I'm patient and this in no way ruins my enjoyment. :)

Gail, do you have to constantly rub our noses in the fact that we don't have x-boxes and you do?? ;)

Best Buy received a second shipment a few weeks ago and I stood outside in 7 degree weather for 12 hours to get one. It was so worth it and I am enjoying Call of Duty 2 and Perfect Dark Zero ever since.

My Gamertag is Reverend Eddie. You'll find me ready to play some co-op Perfect Dark Zero anytime. And by the way, Gun is an absolutely great game!! Especially if you like westerns. The scenery. The music. Everything about it is friggin' great.

I'm waiting for a price drop. Definitely going to get it before Superman Returns comes out, as that game looks fan-freakin'-tastic. Free-roaming Superman game with all of his powers and an innovative take on the life bar system? Sign me up!

Also: Elder Scrolls IV looks too cool to exist. Not to mention, Halo 3 hits next year...

If the PS3 drops at the rumored $500 price tag, there's no way in hell it's going to stand a chance against a $250 (core) or $350 (premium) 360 and Halo 3.

You waited in those conditions for a console, one good game, and a game you can get a better version of on PC? Wow.

And I really doubt the PS3 will be $500, Sony isn't that stupid.

I would never buy a video game system at launch. The price is too high, the game library isn't very big, and there are always buggy ones that need sent back. Wait for all the kinks to be worked out... you get a cheaper system with a bigger fanbase and game library.

If the PS3 streets for 500 bucks a pop, Sony would be shooting itself in the foot. That just won't happen.

IIRC, this isn't the first really crazy rumor to surface about the PS3. There was also some internet rumor that it won't play rented games. Complete lies.

Hey guys and Gail! I've got one and my tag is GREENLANTERN (big surprise).. I was a Live beta tester so I got the name I wanted :) Feel free to add me to you buddy lists. I'm playing DOA mostly right now but once in a while I pop in for a quick game of Hearts, Smash TV, Robotron, or Kameo.
Maybe the YABS group can make a 360 clan or something.
BTW.. they added a Condemned and Quake 4 downloadable demo yesterday.. free demos are always good. They confirm what I thought in the first place.. I didn't miss anything by not buying the game! :)

So very much 'My Life'. :)

I tried out a 360 at Virgin Megastore in Glasgow and played FIFA 06 - Road to the World Cup and I have to admit that I prefered it to the PC version of FIFA 06.

I just recently bought a new PC though and I just can't see the justification on paying out £280 for something that plays games around the same level as my PC.

In about 12 months PC games will be way ahead again (and many are even at the moment, especially on SLI and Crossfire rigs) as the technology moves on much quicker than consoles.

If you only have an old or very basic PC then buying a console for gaming is fine but anyone with a high end PC doesn't really need a console unless they're really into 'social gaming' with three friends on the couch and floor.

I think the £50 price point is excessive too. I can buy Quake 4 for PC for £14.99 at the moment yet it is £49.99 for the 360 version in the same shop.

I might consider one later but they costs don't justify buying one at the moment.

To me it's never about the number of pixels or whatever. A console is a different product than a computer, and I play it for different reasons, so having both is nice.

Downloaded the Condemned demo. Looks like a wonderfully scary, violent ride. Kameo looks fun too. But I gotta say Geometry Wars is the best free game on the Xbox360.

The week before Christmas there was a HUGE line outside the front of Best Buy. It was about 4 pm on Saturday when I went there so I asked a gentleman who must have been 75 years old what was going on. He told me it was the line for the 360 that was going to be released tomorrow at 9 am! That man had actually been there since 12pm waiting to get one for his grandson!! It wasn't 7 degrees but maybe a balmy 40 degrees. I was concerned for the man until I realized that he was wearing a navy baseball hat so he must be made of tough stuff.

Giggity-giggity-GOT ONE!

My local Wal-Mart had a bunch come in at 6am this morning. Sarah and I got there at 5:30am, and there was only a very small line outside(staying up late and hangovers getting in the way, perhaps?). The best thing was, one of the gentlemen in line was only there for diapers.

They were supposed to get 16 in, but they only ended up receiving 12. However, the good news is, all of those 12 was the $400 one with the hard drive, and at the time the store opened, there was only 11 of us there. We didn't have to go single-file or anything, but even though I walked my normal pace the whole way in, I somehow managed to be the first one out the door with a system(just in time, too. I had to get to work).

Tonight, I hope to snag Call of Cthulhu(I know, it's a standard Xbox game, not a 360 one, but Sarah and I are dying to get our hands on it), and Condemned: Criminal Origins. Later this week, I'll see about getting Dead or Alive, and perhaps Perfect Dark Zero.

Now I dance the happy dance!

My Colecovision is still working perfectly fine, so I see no need to replace it.

Donkey Kong rocked. You have the Adam package?

What was that dungeon exploration one they sold...can't remember the name....

Just finished Half Life 2 on the XBOX. If you can play that on the 360, get it. Darn good game.

Trying to get into King Kong but finding it a bit boring. Metrios on the DS is my new crack pipe.

Did not have the money for the Adam package.
I had Donkey Kong, Nintendo's Mr. Do!, Cosmic Avenger, Mouse Trap, Rocky III, Antarctic Adventure, Smurfs...

The tape deck kind of squeeeeeaaaaled on high speed mode, didn't it? And the butterfly-wheel printer sounded like a gunfight.

Naw. You really need that on the PC. I hear the XBox loads times are terrible. Though more than that the multiplayer and mods on the PC just make the PC version much much more worth it.

It's just too expensive to keep upgrading the comptuter for the latest high end games. Also I can't stand playing first person shooters with a mouse and keyboard. Know some folks can only do it that way.
You're right the load times were a pain. Even more of a pain were the auto saves which sometimes happened just as someone was about to kill you, meaning you were pretty much screwed.

But the game itself was so expansive, my fav first person shooter next to the first Halo.

Anyone else having DoA 4 issues? My first copy wouldn't get past the team ninja intro(with the storm over the ocean. It just kept freezing). Same with my 2nd, but on the insistence of Xbox technical support, I swapped again for a 3rd. This copy will let me get through a fight or two, but will then freeze up once more. Is this a software issue, or is my 360 in need of repair(note: I've had no problems with my other games, which are Quake 4 and Condemned on the 360, and Fable and Call of Cthulhu on the standard Xbox).

I'll swap you a Sinclair ZX Spectrum 128K +2A with a wonky tape deck for your XBox 360 and all your games...

Is it a deal?

Alas, it has not even been released down under yet. But with a price like $649 AUS, there's no way in hell this little black duck can afford one.

I can't WAIT to do the midnight launch with my store though. It's going to be absolutely awesome.
