Hey everyone! Just placing this up top so I can remove it from sticky-land. :)

We just wanted to share some thoughts we had about how to be a productive member of the community, and this isn't directed toward anyone in particular.

Feel free to speak your mind and express your opinions (and you know that we have pretty liberal standards), but remember that human beings post here, people who have emotions and, yes, egos (some more delicate than others). Sometimes the shield of anonymity offered by the Internet and a clever screen name isn't always ample protection against one's judgment. Zeus' aegis it ain't.

Try to agree or disagree with people, not judge people. Disagreements show your opinion and how it differs from someone else's, and they can be supported by facts, figures, and other data, but judgment minimizes someone's opinion or it may allege that you're better than someone else. You may not even be intentionally trying to hurt someone, but we all know how words can do more damage than a two-sided labrys.

We hate board disputes over personal attacks; they're unnecessary, disrespectful to other posters, AND can lead to warnings or bans. If you have a personal issue with someone, either ignore him or her, or PM him or her to resolve it. Something else that helps is simply taking the time to hit the Preview Post button before you submit your post. Give yourself time to reflect upon your words before placing them out there for the world to see.

Feel free to criticize the work of DC (or other) creators and staff, but don't insult them personally.

Bad poster: "You're stupid!" or "Your idea is stupid!"
Good poster: "I don't agree with you."

(And backing up your disagreement with a judgment is also bad -- "I don't agree with you because you're stupid.")

Respect one another, or at least one another's rights to post. Report any post you think is a personal attack or spam or something else! We'll take it from there.

ALSO:

Obscenities/Profanity not permitted include "fuck", "shit" or variants, "dick" or variants, "asshole", "c" word (which I won't type), or other words for genitalia, and "bitch" (although this word has been used to describe Diana on occasion). Using symbols as letters (e.g. f*ck, sh!t) doesn't make the word more appropriate.

If you're not sure whether a word you wish to use is profane or obscene but it could be, ask bulldog or me via PM. Otherwise, One of us will delete or edit the post, and possibly have to take further action (which could include time off for you).

Please follow this. It just makes it a more pleasant environment for everyone.

Thank you!

Aegisbearer
